  3. Definitely agree with a good feeding cushion. A rocker for baby, we have this one http://www.tinytotsdirect.com/baby-gifts/Fisher-Price-Linkadoos-Infant-to-Toddler-Rocker.html which is the best I have had (4 babies, numerous chairs, rockers, bouncers, swings!) Some sort of bath seat to support baby in in the bath so you can have a hand free. And you really can't have enough sleep-suits and bodysuits in newborn and 0-3 months!
  4. I suffer very badly with hayfever too, though later in the year so must be allergic to something different. My GP prescribed me nasal spray and eyedrops whilst pregnant, the nasal spray really did the job, will be getting a prescription soon as will be breastfeeding throughout my bad months, take advantage of free prescriptions and stock up now!
  5. Wow I've never seen an owl in the wild, glad it was a happy ending and very well done to the schoolboy who cared enough to alert you to it!

  8. Same here, we should be OK though as have a sibling place but that hasn't stopped him driving me crazy about it! Best of luck!
  9. Yep, just checked the allocations webpage and it says 5pm tomorrow for e-applications, postal will go out first class tomorrow.
  10. No, definitely the ED estate. Most if not all of the blocks had laundry rooms at the top. They may well have sold off other flats aswell, but that would only be speculation on my part.
  11. Hi James, Just wondering, is there a reason that Badminton House on the East Dulwich Estate hasn't been refurbished when every other block has? I don't live there, just pure curiosity! Thanks.
  12. Oh and it's the East Dulwich Estate on Dog Kennel Hill for clarification.
  13. In this case the flats were never council 'flats.'They used to be laundry rooms in the attic space of each of the blocks which have been refurbished and as Jeremy has stated are being sold to fund the refurbishment of the rest of the estate.
  14. Very much agree with the comments about feeling out of the loop once they start secondary school. My son is in year 8 at Charter and I am more than happy with the communication I have had with the school, aside from the usual texts and letters, he was having a problem with another boy in his class which was causing him some upset, I called the school in the morning and explained the situation to someone in the office, they then passed a message to the behaviour officer, who spoke my son during the school day, I then got a call from his tutor after school to tell me what they were doing to rectify the problem. By the next day all was sorted and my son is now his happy self again. I'm sorry you are having difficulties, perhaps give the school a call when they go back and ask for the tutor to call you back as soon as they can, if you don't have any luck I would probably then ask to speak to the head of year. Good luck.
  15. To clarify - We are talking about the ED-Peckham Rye line? The bend to the rear of Quorn Road/Ivanhoe/Copleston? This is a passenger line - I have lived here long enough to have noticed what trains are going passed my windows every few minutes, how often have you seen goods trains running through ED station? You haven't! The Denmark Hill-Peckham Rye-Nunhead etc line is a goods line, that'll be the one that passes Warwick Gardens. The occasional maintenance train goes by on this line, mostly at night, referred to by us as the 'spy train' due to the fact that it seems to have a flood light on it, this does not have any trucks/carriages (thereby not a goods train as it is not carrying any goods.) These trains don't tend to screech, just make a low 'rumble.' The screechers are deffo passenger trains, though I'm not sure what differentiates them from the quiet ones as they all look the same to the un-trained eye. As a PP said not sure if there has been an improvement as our windows have been mostly closed, hope so though, some of them were so bad they could drown out conversations! Spring on it's way though, so it won't be long before we're woken by the sounds of angle grinders on the lines at 3 in the morning!
  16. I take it you mean the odd maintenance train? Because there are no goods trains on this line.
  17. All the trains on this line are passenger.
  18. With regards to secondary schools, I'd say you're pretty much guaranteed a place in Charter or Kingsdale which are both great schools (Charter from personal experience.)

  20. I do often wonder about the history of mine and my mums homes, I would love to know the original layout of our Victorian terrace, it's been messed with beyond all recognition over the years and it's a pretty unique shape. little things make me wonder about previous residents - the old coal hole and fireplaces, the big butler sink in the basement. The flat I grew up in is in Honor Oak near the ED boarder and a Victorian conversion in a huge building. We were told it used to be a school but I think* I found it to have been designed to be apartments from day one, ignorant of me I know but I didn't even know 'flats' were built in Victorian times. *I say 'think' as I tried to find it in the 1901 census a few years back but it appears not to have been numbered then but named so I can't be sure it was the right building.

  22. Does it get super busy in the half term Fuscia?
  23. I would too if it weren't such a mare to get to on public transport, and so pricey!
  24. That notice has been up for a few weeks at least.
