  1. 1905. From Edith's Streets: "Austin?s Court now occupies the site of Austin's at Peckham Rye. This was one of the largest antique and second-hand dealers in Europe. It was started by George Austin who in 1876 had opened Oxford Farm Dairy and also advertised Household Removals and Warehousing. In 1905 they took on the site at Peckham Rye. His son George Edward Austin and his four sons built up the business in the 1930s. It was later run by his great grandson with his sister Valene. L it closed in 1994."
  2. I think the rule of thumb is that if they have a company number rather than a charity number - don't give. The 'company' name appears to be registered to a flat in Crystal Palace.
  3. Don't let them in, they're like vampires - once you've invited them in, they can do what they like. As already said - show the some ID, failing that, refuse them entry and tell them to call the police if needs be.
  4. Have seen them running past and all seems to be normal - a couple of men were seen working on the signals this morning.
  5. Yep, can see signals from my window, lights been stuck on red since the strike - eerily quiet on the line tonight!
  6. Little'uns slept through it, thank goodness - but it's fried our stereo!
  7. That seriously scared the b'jeebuz out of me! Made the tele spike too. Seems to be moving away now.
  8. There's also a Bookstart at the Albrighton on a Thurs morning 10-11.30, ideal for all ages under 5.

  10. With the shortcut, it's about 10 mins walk from you. With regards to waiting lists, we are 13th on the list for Dog Kennel Hill and are only 300 metres away. If you give Bessemer Grange a call they will be happy for you to go and have a look around.
  11. Where abouts do you live? If you email [email protected] they will let you know where you are on the waiting lists for your chosen schools.
  12. No they won't, you can request one here http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200278/bags_bins_and_boxes/416/waste_bins_and_bags/1 :)
  13. Bookstart at the Albrighton 10-11.30. Really great fun for all ages up to 5, lots of little babies there too. I have the booklet here somewhere, will post what else is on on a Thursday when I find it!
  14. I got ours from JoJo Maman Bebe, not sure what colours they have though.
  15. I emailed Southwark today to get an update on our waiting list position as yesterday was the closing date for accepting places... we have gone down 2 places on the list!
  16. It does have a pump. Rae was at my daughters birth and is amazing, best of luck Pilsbury x

I have a friend called Sam.
  19. I used it 6 months ago! I have nothing to compare it too unfortunately but I did find it comfortable, it is hard sided but has padding on the rim which is covered by the liner, It is very roomy, and the bottom has a padded layer, I do have a picture but will have to search hubbies PC for it!

  21. Don't know Jessop at all I'm afraid, but as above drop admissions an email to ask where you are on the other school waiting lists, in the mean time I would give the school a call and ask if you can go and have a look around.
  22. Wow I got a reply in 5 minutes, seems like the person answering the emails is more on the ball than those answering the phone today! We're in a good waiting list position I think!
  23. Thank you for that Sharls, will give them a try. If anyone is interested, Bessemer Grange are having an open morning this Thursday between 9.30 and 10.30.
  24. No, It's a community school, Dog Kennel Hill!
