  7. Bessemer are now a 3 form entry rather than a temporary bulge. I would have said GG and St Johns too.
  8. Yes, Sainsburys not open until 11 I'm afraid!
  9. I've sussed who our 'Local Teacher' is too, very disappointed, thought he was a profesional. I'll not be able to look him in the eye again when I pass him outside the school with his cup of tea and cigarette.
  10. The story goes that Southdown was demolished due to subsidence. The yellow notices have definitely only gone up recently although it was on the website before. My small issue is that the the old Gatebeck site has been used as a car park since it was demolished, does this mean all of the cars + the cars from the new build will be forced out onto Pytchley Road? My larger issue is as mentioned before, the loss of 'The Cage' on Pytchley Road, it is a very popular play space with all ages from the estate and surrounding areas, especially in the summer months and lighter evenings, It's a large estate full of families with no gardens and extremely important in my opinion.
  11. Have a very Happy Cjristmas too Junad :-)
  12. Manufacturer recommended age: 1 month - 12 years Really?!
  13. Who said he was with someone? Perhaps he was waiting for a call? He should be able to put his phone on the table if he s wishes without some git thinking they have the right to help themselves.
  14. Haha! It all makes sense then, I did say to my husband that due to the stabbing there was a lot more traffic on our road and what looked like a Community Support Officer escorting someone in a Father Christmas hat - Sorry!
  15. Aaah were you wearing a red and white hat? I saw the 2 of you passing my house if so :-)
  16. So did I, hence the 'again.' How many times do we get to become the new nappy valley?
  17. Sounds like a scam to me, well done for not parting with any money!
  18. ...again! http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/yummy-mummies-move-east-to-dulwich-as-high-rents-spark-clapham-exodus-8281468.html
  19. Great picture! The lava rink was actually closer to Camberwell Grove. Opposite what is now McNeil Road there is a council estate, the location is now a grassed are on the estate with 2 air shafts for the railway tunnel. Sadly nothing is left of the rink. From Ediths Streets: Lava Rink. An early specially built roller-skating rink opened in 1876 in a large iron building on the east side opposite Denmark Hill station. It was called the Lava Rink because the floor was made of lava from Vesuvius. The first English game of roller hockey was played here in 1885. In the 1914-1918 war, the rink became a military depot. It was burnt down in the 1920s.
  20. Own brand nappies and wipes for us, Sainsbury's or Asda. The price of branded nappies and wipes is ridiculous imo! I'm not really surprised the brands are struggling when supermarket's own are easily as good at a fraction of the price.
  21. I must admit to finding it quite sad that parents feel the local schools are so bad they have to send their children on 1hr+ commutes. My older children and their friends are all at local secondary schools and all doing brilliantly and are more than happy. The schools that aren't doing so well will only get better with the support of local families.
  22. Do you mean the online reservation service? If so, I use this everytime I use Argos. They base the reservation on current stock levels so will only tell you what is in stock at the time of the order, so it should slways be in that store if they say it is, it's always worked for me, they will reserve until the end of the next day. If it's not the reservation service that you mean, I apologise!
  23. Sounds about right these days, gone are the days one could get a cab from Safeways in Peckham to Honor Oak for ?3.
  24. I don't I'm afraid John, sorry. There have been workman in and out of there doing some work recently, I can't recall how long the signs have been up. If you give the school a call the headteacher or even caretakers may be able to help, the current head is very approachable.
