  1. I do often wonder about the history of mine and my mums homes, I would love to know the original layout of our Victorian terrace, it's been messed with beyond all recognition over the years and it's a pretty unique shape. little things make me wonder about previous residents - the old coal hole and fireplaces, the big butler sink in the basement. The flat I grew up in is in Honor Oak near the ED boarder and a Victorian conversion in a huge building. We were told it used to be a school but I think* I found it to have been designed to be apartments from day one, ignorant of me I know but I didn't even know 'flats' were built in Victorian times. *I say 'think' as I tried to find it in the 1901 census a few years back but it appears not to have been numbered then but named so I can't be sure it was the right building.

  3. Does it get super busy in the half term Fuscia?
  4. I would too if it weren't such a mare to get to on public transport, and so pricey!
  5. That notice has been up for a few weeks at least.

Absolutely tragic, no-one has the right to take a life. Condolences to Daniels family.
  7. Have you tried contacting the school directly? They should be able to let you know where you stand. If the current year one classes are at maximum capacity, unfortunately they wouldn't be able to offer a place unless someone leaves. Have you thought of applying to other local schools? Where abouts are you?
  8. Anyone have any recommendations for a good, reasonably priced local hairdressers for a 12 year old boy, he currently has long hair and would like it cut and styled, he still wants to keep some length so maybe not your run of the mill barbers as in our experience they just want to chop it all off and this is not what he wants. (12 year olds eh?!) We used to go to GM's when he was younger but they have quoted ?25 - is it just me or is this a lot of money for a childs cut?
  9. Sounds like a plan Sanity Girl, not been there before but have been meaning to try it as a change to the Pulse! Thanks for that too Pebbles, may have to give that one a go. Know what you mean about softplay being a break Toad!
  10. Will be watching this thread with interest as have a nearly 4 year old girl and 14 week old baby to amuse - we tend to go to softplay at the Pulse or local parks but it would be good to find some new things to do - I find most of the groups are aimed at toddlers.
  11. Just checked the website and it looks like it is showing this week - that's my Thursday sorted then!
  12. Ooh i really hope so - will deffo be there if they are!
  13. I am desperate to see Harry Potter - everyone else in the house has seen it except me and 'Wee Vik' (14 weeks) really hope they show it!
  14. Brilliant, thanks for that.
  15. I just used plain coloured tights, navy blue, white etc.

  19. Would deffo be up for this, was looking online the other day to see if there was anywhere I could go with my 6 week old to see Harry Potter, nothing came up though!
  20. Dog Kennel Hill is this Friday the 3rd 3.30-5.30.
  21. There's a house on Ivanhoe Road that's had it's tree up since the beginning of November :-|
  22. There was a thread on this but I can't find it either. It is still the Salvation Army training college, it's not being converted into anything nor has it been taken over. Here's the planning apps: http://planningonline.southwarksites.com/planningonline2/AcolNetCGI.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPSESSION= (Type William Booth into the address search.)
  23. We're in the top part of a Victorian house, had my little girl 3 weeks ago at home in the pool + 5 people with no probs at all. We were paranoid too, esp as our house is not in the greatest nick, but all was lovely! I've never heard of a pool dropping through a ceiling but completely understand your worry!
  24. I'm going to stick myself in the firing line I think and say whatever happened to 'live and let live?' It's only the window frames, he's hardy painted obscenities on the front of his house, I would be more peeved to live next to the house on Danby Street that has a sign saying 'No F***ing junk mail please' or a house that had rubbish piled up outside, this is a well kept house that the owner has decided he would like to brighten up. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if it were on my road!
