I got it (by request) for Christmas, but haven't had a chance to have a good read of it yet. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Food-DIY-Everything-sausages-sourdough/dp/1905490976/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420224359&sr=8-1&keywords=diy+food

It's in "Lost and Found in East Dulwich"
  4. I vaguely remember a clock showing 4.37 at some stage last night. My house is currently a disaster zone. I have taken residence/refuge on the sofa. Perhaps permanently.

I knew nothing about the poor man's death (even that he had died) and via that thread I now know quite a bit about the circumstances. I'm glad it was removed. I hope this one does too.
  6. I surprised you've lasted this long. Must be the season of goodwill towards all trolls.

As I said, I think bus drivers deserve to be paid for doing what is essentially a hard job. But don't go on strike for 'safety reasons', when a pay-off is all you are seeking. Classic RMT bollox.

Next time you get a prescription filled, use the internet, use anything made of plastic, use a microwave, play a DVD, use a mobile phone, etc, etc, don't forget to curse all those academic barstewards that made all that possible.
  11. Parkdrive Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Alternatively those people have genuine concerns, > but let's not worry about that eh? If they were indeed genuine, they wouldn't allow their concerns to be so easily bought out. Yet again and again, transport unions strike for 'safety reasons', yet it is settled with a pay rise. Though I agree with Indiepanda, bus drivers are on nothing like what tube drivers are on. Tougher job, IMHO, as well. It's the reason why anyone can become a bus driver, but tube driving is a closed shop.
  12. The cynic in me says that all the 'safety demands' will be quietly shoved aside with an extra couple of quid in the pay packets. Until next year, when the same squalid process will repeat itself.

For some it is an animal rights issue, but for others it is a 'bloody toffs' issue. I'd say, amongst those in fierce opposition to fox hunting, it's a pretty even split. You can see this in the comments of the Guardian article Foxy linked to in his OP.

  18. Yep - that looks like it, Foxy. Reading a bit deeper (that'll be the geek in me) the trial grouped 10 users together, but it seems to have rolled out now without saying how many share a single IP. From the EDF experience, looks like the answer is 'lots'. So now you have a public IP address that NATs to an internal BT IP address for your router, that NATs to another internal IP on your home network. Complicated! It'd mess me around, as I have my NAS exposed to the internet via port forwarding, and this would make that impossible. Fortunately I'm on Virgin and they're not doing this yet. On the bright side, anyone using bittorrent with this is now a bit harder to trace.

  20. Even though it is complete saccharin and cheese, I think is just brilliant. OK, Carey misses just about every top note, but the classroom instruments are cool and the four 'backing singers' steal the show.

    Which TV?

Earlier in the year I bought a lovely Samsung 55" smart TV, which has inbuilt freesat viewer, iplayer, etc apps built in and records programs a-la SkyPlus. Got a good-ish deal as it was end-of-line. My review: smart TVs are pants. Classic jack of all trades, master of none. The freesat viewer and guide are flaky, the recording is hit and miss. iPlayer/netflix/etc apps work well. The screen is very, very good though. If I had my time (and money) again, I would find the best screen available for my money (Samsung or LG seem to be best here) and forget about any bells and whistles. Instead I'd get myself a good Humax PVR which has the iPlayer stuff as well ... which I'm probably going to do anyway.

  23. The terrific B3TA site featured a whole host of these a while ago. My favourite is definitely the Brazilian Institute for Oriental Studies. http://b3ta.com/features/phalliclogoawards/ Though this didn't cover the the sublime Office of Government Commerce logo. 24. I love how Jacky, who if not working there certainly has a close relationship with the business, suddenly posts a vague "looking for an iPhone" post somewhere else to try and avoid the 'I've just registered' look.
