Have you tried changing the wireless channel, Sue? One of your neighbours might have a new router that's interfering with your signal.
  2. We got Sherlock Holmes onto the case. He said it was emmental-ary.

Plus the added knock on effects on the economy, pension pots, etc, etc. 'Decrease' can be just as bad as 'increase', sometime worse.
  4. Yep, maxxi, they're all really called 'Kate' in real life.
  5. He he. That should have a big warning... "may contain nuts".
  6. I'm confused - I thought *Bob* was a she?. Never quite figured out Huguenot, either.
  7. Is it a "boy's club" though? I didn't know you were female, AM. How many other posters are there that everyone just assumes are male out there? It could actually be a girl's club for all we know!
  8. Sounds like a brilliant idea - have you considered doing this in conjunction with the excellent Men's Shed movement? My dad used to go to this in Australia and is such a great idea. It has now come to the UK - http://www.menssheds.org.uk/ so maybe they could help you get it up and running.

  10. So long as it's not used as a cash cow and actually achieves something. Just a database would be fairly pointless. Also, it seems strangely limited by your description. Why only those landlords/that area?

  12. So after flouncing out a while ago, Blah Blah suddenly reappears as if by magic on a thread by a 'new poster' with a similar MO. Couldn't be more obvious if they tried.
  13. Yeah, yeah... or should I say: blah, blah. For potential new users: the poster crops up every now and again with a new name, tries (weakly) to stir up trouble and then flounces off. Please don't let this recurring troll dissuade you from posting here. It is really quite a nice place.

I don't deny Tesco's service is rather excellent (especially if you have a problem with their online service), I've always found John Lewis's service to be wonderful, also. Even to the point I would actually pay more for stuff (especially white-goods) bought online, as I know it will arrive on time, as ordered and be expertly installed. But I generally don't have to pay more as they usually price match.

You're right, RPC. I replaced the word 'women' with 'men' and found the whole concept of a 'Men's Hour' on radio 4 to be an entirely stupid and outdated one.
  17. If you were a scout for an organised burglary ring, would you: a) write something on the house in chalk, leaving your burglary chums to scour the neighbourhood looking for your markings, as in some kind of bizarre tea-leaf treasure hunt. or b) note down the address?

Originally, the pubs paid a much lower lease so the higher rate paid for the beer was like a risk share between the pubco and the pub. It would be interesting to see if tied pubs are still paying much lower rentals than free houses. If anything, this new rule should make that clear as the pub will now have a choice.
  19. Stereo Kicks? No. Just no.
  20. Well, I feel like a right tit now.
  21. Come again?

  23. Turn the air conditioner on first, then.
  24. I use this... http://www.dban.org/. Either that or take the hard disk out and hit it many times with a hammer.
