  6. 😂
  7. OK thanks
  8. I've been with Plusnet for years (except for a brief sad experience with BT - and yes I know Plusnet is a subsidiary of them, but presumably their admin etc is separate). I've found Plusnet reliable, and their customer service has been good whenever I've needed them. My WiFi isn't that great, but I think they have brought out a better router, and in any case I'm not sure it's entirely the router's fault.

  10. Thanks all!
  11. "My" one wasn't yellow :)
  12. My buildings and contents insurance are coming up for renewal at the end of May. Since my front bay was rebuilt after subsidence, my premiums have rocketed, and the company (Zurich) were so appalling in just about every respect when dealing with the claim that I really don't want to stay with them. However I know I am going to have trouble getting anybody else to insure me, because of the previous subsidence. Somebody from Direct Line is phoning me tomorrow (they know about the subsidence), I presume to give me a quote (my car insurance is presently with them). Does anybody have any experience of getting quotes after subsidence repairs? Should I go to a broker? Online and on the phone, in the past as soon as subsidence is mentioned companies don't want to know. Also, my buildings and contents insurance are presently combined, and I'm wondering whether it would now be cheaper to look at separate quotes. I don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire and end up with a company that is worse, though I sincerely hope I never have to make another claim.
  13. This morning I was astounded to see a large brown butterfly fly past my kitchen window. I've no idea what it was, as I only got a glimpse of it, but it wasn't anything I recognised. First butterfly I've seen this year, as well.
  14. /forum/read.php?20,2080911,2083226#msg-2083226 This is very confusing, then ... 😶 Got your forum names muddled up again?

  17. Are people still seeing this happening? One of my lights is flickering at the moment, but I don't know if it is a fault with the bulb, the dinner switch or something else

I'm not even going to bother to reply to that 🙄
  19. First Direct have never had branches. I've been with them for decades, and it has never been a problem. Apart from paying in cash or cheques (cheques virtually obsolete now, surely) everything can be done on the phone or online, or by post with cheques. Cash (and cheques) can be paid in at HSBC branches, or else at Post Offices. I paid in cash yesterday at the Post Office. It took about five minutes. I have an HSBC account as well. I just do everything online. Why would any organisation continue to pay for physical buildings when there are cheaper alternatives, including for the rapidly diminishing number of people who can't or won't use modern technology?

This is a very complex issue. Who is this "we" you are talking about?
  21. 🤣
  22. In my experience, cars slow down when approaching that camera, then speed up again once they are clear of it. That only works if you know it's there, of course .... Not that I'm suggesting that is a good thing!
  23. Shoreham. Kent not sea. Nice not too arduous walks, bit hilly in places. Several pubs, one by far the best. I will try to Google it! ETA: Oh no, I think the nice one may have closed down, sorry. It was the one which positively welcomed dogs (not that I have a dog). But unfortunately I can't remember its name. It was the last one you came to, obviously depending which end of the street you started from! In which case, I'm sure somebody may have better ideas for places to go! We liked Shoreham because there's a station.

Once the driver has made all his/her calls, the engine can be switched off until the lorry is due to be loaded up again ?

No, the Facebook group is not related to this forum at all. Whoever set it up cheekily used the same name, presumably in the hope that people would think it was 🙄
