Sainsbury's aren't doing very well financially, are they? It reminds me of when Homebase had some other company taking space in their stores (?Laura Ashley?) They folded quite soon after that.

Excellent. Somewhere a bit nearer than Peckham to go and moan (again) about the crap greenhouse they sold me :)) To be fair, they've changed it once, possibly twice, I can't remember .....

I do sympathise. I was with AOL for a long time as my internet provider, in pre broadband days, mainly because it was what someone suggested I use back in the day and it always seemed too much of a hassle to change because I too thought I would have to jump through hoops to change my email. I was really horrified to discover that my AOL email addresses had nothing whatsoever to do with AOL being my internet provider. They had always led me to believe that it had. I changed from AOL to Plusnet (though I'm with BT at the moment for broadband, though once my contract runs out I shan't be) and changed my AOL email to gmail. Oh, and I still have my two old AOL email addresses, which I occasionally check just in case (as gmail has long stopped forwarding any mail which goes there), so I imagine you can do the same with BT email addresses, though - oviously - check! And also check whether you can move away from BT as your broadband provider but still use your existing BT email addresses, which I suspect you probably can (but they won't tell you that unless pushed, because they want to keep you as a broadband customer).

Excellent! That place has been an eyesore for years!

That's good news! Thanks for letting us know!

PeckhamRose Wrote: ---------------------------------------------- 2. Lots > of people and businesses have our email address. > It would be a nightmare to change! PeckhamRose, I found it really easy to change to a Gmail address. Not from a BT address admittedly, but surely the process is the same? They sort everything for you, then forward the mail from your old address for a month (I think it was, may have been longer). It's all free. I had no problems at all. You can have more than one gmail address if you need to, for different purposes. If you Google I'm sure you can find out all about it! They import all the contacts from your old email system, and all the emails. ETA: Surely you don't have to have a BT address just because you have BT broadband? I've presently got BT broadband (never again) but I've never had a BT email address.

I would pay not to have to go to it :)) :)) :))

Haven't been there for decades, and judging by the comments above don't think I will now. Do they still have that circular staircase, or have I imagined that?

23rd March - ?Put It To The People March? - central London
Sue replied to IlonaM's topic in The Lounge
Thanks for posting this, I hadn't heard of it before but will hopefully be going. -
Last week apparently nowhere in East Dulwich was sent the middle bits of the Guardian (nor, apparently, the Telegraph). I haven't had any problems any other weeks. There were lots at the newsagents between M and S and the cinema yesterday, all complete (Guardian, anyway). It appears to have been a cock up at the distributor last week, not any fault of the Guardian itself.

I was just editing my post above when I had to answer the door, and I hadn't seen your post when I posted the edit. What regions/islands do you think have a Thai/Indonesian/Malaysian crossover in their cuisine? ETA: I can't be bothered googling but I'm sure you can find something :)) ETA: In any case, I thought you had now decided that calling the restaurant Lombok had nothing to do with its cuisine? Though why in that case you would choose that name, who knows?

:)) Come to think of it I've been to Malaysia as well. Don't remember the food there being anything like Thai food, either. There is an area of Sumatra, whose name I can't remember offhand, where the food was very hot, but still not in a Thai way.

Could anyone recommend a slightly friendly Hermes drop off
Sue replied to jt2's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Jellybeanz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > newsagent on Lordship Lane (V7?) particularly rude > and unhelpful. I tend to drop near work instead! I've had problems with that place. I won't use it for anything any more, they were so unhelpful. However, I may be wrong, but I don't think they are a Hermes drop off point. I don't think there are any locally, which was why I used the Post Office. -
I have been to both Indonesia and Thailand, and in my experience there was no crossover of food whatsoever.

A thing that annoys me is when a person prays for rescue in some terrible disaster, and are then rescued,it's supposedly because they prayed. What about all the other people who presumably were praying, but didn't get rescued? ETA: I agree the Sally Army do a lot of good work. And a lot of hymn tunes are brilliant!

Where can you hand in lost property now we have no police station?
Sue replied to HRB2's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Given the pressure on police resources in London, I think it's reasonable that police stations are no longer set up as Lost Property offices. Obviously it's important to you if you've lost something (or find something) but it's hardly a priority in the great scheme of things. Back in the day, my Mum locked herself (and me) out of our first floor South London flat. She went to the police station and a policeman came and climbed up (I presume he brought a ladder with him, can't remember), let himself in a window, came downstairs and let us in the front door. Times have changed :) And as for transport, I once left a hand crocheted shawl (of great sentimental value as it was a present long ago from a relative) on top of a bus on New Year's Eve. As soon as I got off the bus I realised (I was cold). I knew exactly where it was. The bus was still at the bus stop letting on passengers. The driver wouldn't let me back on to retrieve it. Obviously it never turned up when I enquired to TfL, and a subsequent complaint resulted in a letter (or email) telling me it was my responsibility to look after my property. GRRRRRRRR. -

It's crazy!! To be fair, entry to most of the Horniman is free, so like many museums and galleries they probably depend on making money from food, drinks and gifts.

Printer Ink Cartridge Scam Why Ink keeps running out
Sue replied to DulwichFox's topic in The Lounge
I always use this place for excellent compatible cartridges https://www.stinkyinkshop.co.uk/?tsrc=stinky-ink&tsrc=stinky-ink&gclid=CjwKCAiAwJTjBRBhEiwA56V7qyXFdzVsrnQG4OwzSchyj9SU7_1QAVGv7nl03aqleyYHhnsYQh_m_RoCYmEQAvD_BwE ETA: But as far as I can tell, the cartridges are in fact empty when the printer says they are. It's an Epson. -
There are a number of things I find odd about Christianity, but the main ones are that the Bible is selective in what someone in the past has chosen to include in it, has been translated (or mistranslated) from language to language over the years, and much of it appears to be based on hearsay or mishearing in the first place. The blessed are the cheesemakers thing. I once lodged briefly with some fervent Christians. They genuinely believed that people brought up in a place where they had no opportunity of hearing about Christianity were going to hell. They also couldn't reconcile "Thou shalt not kill" with the fact that one of them had fought in the war (if memory serves). My ex used to ask Jehovah's Witnesses in for a cup of tea and ask them questions they couldn't answer. They never came again (not the same ones, anyway :)) )
