I would phone the scan place up (after a reasonable time) if I were you, just to be on the safe side. A letter from a hospital recently took well over a week to get to me - my GP (in Herne Hill, so not the same delivery office) had received a copy long before I did. Luckily it wasn't related to a forthcoming appointment but the report on one which I'd already had.
  3. Thanks Kiera. That is ridiculous. There was no indication at all before the decision to close the office was taken that the problem was only at Christmas, otherwise obviously other options could have been suggested. Sledgehammers and nuts spring to mind. How is he suggesting that our post will be "back to normal in a couple of weeks"? Did he say what measures they are putting in place to do that, and what does he consider "normal", I wonder? As regards SE21, that is horrifying. I hope the person responsible for the thefts has not just been sacked, but that the police are involved? Royal Mail used to have their own Investigation Department, and it investigated things like several thefts from the same office (I am gobsmacked that this wasn't identified. Surely the information must have been relayed to the manager - however it seems that he wasn't exactly doing his job either). Offices used to have watching galleries for the use of investigation staff in following up suspicions (though obviously the thefts may not have occurred actually in the office). I am cynically supposing that following privatisation the Investigation Department has been disbanded to "save money"? If not, it does not seem to be doing its job properly. ETA: Sorry, Burbage's post intervened whilst I was typing this!
  4. Use them as bin bags or to store stuff in my chest freezer. Reuse them as bags. Though I usually use more permanent bags. ETA: I'm pretty sure you can't put them in the normal recycling. Some supermarkets used to collect them to recycle - I think Sainsbury's did - but I don't know if they still do.
  5. So can anybody report back from the meeting?

Why would you take something which you are sending out of the area to the delivery office? Normally the delivery offices only deal with items coming into their area, to be delivered there (hence their name!) In my experience, items being returned to their sender via Royal Mail are taken to a Post Office? Has the system been changed?

I was hoping to go to this, but now can't go either. Feedback would be brilliant.

James, council libraries don't ration brown garden bags, and haven't done for some time.

James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The obvious position would be for as many a > possible to object unless the scheme includes Post > Office Delivery Office for people to collect > parcels, etc that Royal Mail failed to > successfully deliver. Surely these are separate issues? The work being carried out in the delivery office was moved from Silvester Road because the office wasn't fit for purpose. This was due to the increase in the number of parcels and packets having to be dealt with there. An East Dulwich delivery office which is actually fit for purpose doesn't have to be on the same site as the old one! It just needs to be in a convenient place in East Dulwich, and not in a Peckham office which apparently can't handle the workload either!
  11. Bach, Beethoven, Mozart. La Traviata. I know that my redeemer liveth (from The Messiah) Dido's Lament (When I am laid in earth) (from Dido and Aeneas) Where e'er you walk (Handel) Second movement of the Pathetique.
  12. Meeting about this on Wednesday, in case anybody has not seen the other thread: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1979904
  13. Did you mean 29 November?
  14. I have come home today to a pile of post after none all week. They had all been posted on different dates. One was an important letter requiring time critical action by me which was posted first class eight days ago.
  15. Mine was/is so bad they are doing it without monitoring. They took soil samples to about three (possibly more, I can't remember) metres down and sent them off for analysis. I'm very glad I was insured. Depending on how far the bay returns to its previous position after GeoBear have done their stuff, the whole thing may have to be rebuilt. Then it will all need redecorating inside and outside. ETA: Also, do not assume you are on clay. GeoBear initially assumed my bay was on clay and that the subsidence was due to roots from a nearby street tree. After they had drilled down and analysed the soil, they found it was on made up soil and something else, shale I think (I don't have their report to hand) and they didn't find clay till several metres down. If the cause of the subsidence isn't properly identified and addressed, you may well have further problems. It's not necessarily a case of just repairing cracks.
  16. Can your solicitor not send a copy on guaranteed tracked and signed for next day delivery? I don't know what they call it now. Royal Mail Special Delivery I think. Surely Royal Mail can't f*** that up? ETA: I'm wondering why s/he didn't do that in the first place given its importance and the fact it is time critical? You can get Saturday delivery for an additional charge (supposedly).

  20. And also that complaints to Royal Mail customer services, with the response that this will be "forwarded to the delivery office manager to be resolved within 48 hours" or words to that effect, are completely ineffective, since the relevant manager seems unwilling or unable to act on them. In my case this was a requested redelivery of a tracked item which never arrived on the requested day, inaccurate/incomplete information on the tracking page, and being told by customer services that it would be re-redelivered on the following Monday (which it wasn't).

You can set it to avoid routes where the congestion charge would kick in. On the other hand, a familiar route may be less stressful even if the way Google maps took you might be quicker depending on traffic conditions at the time you were travelling.
  22. To set her mind absolutely at rest, she could change her current email password anyway?

What would be the point of posting it on here? Have I missed something?
