There is currently a sign outside the Grove saying it is a pub lease to let, or words to that effect?

Good luck with sorting it out, anyway. Things like that are always upsetting.

Normally when companies mess up they send an immediate email out as soon as they realise, explaining and apologising!

As pointed out on the other thread you started about this, the seller warned you of imperfections beforehand, so it really was up to you to check you were happy with the items before handing over your money. Had they said the items were in perfect condition, that would have been different. Sorry if that comes over as rude, and I'm sorry if you aren't happy with your purchase, but it isn't as if the faults could not have been seen beforehand.

New vacuum cleaner - Sebo, Miele or Dyson? Upright or cylinder?
Sue replied to devsdev's topic in The Family Room Discussion
jimbo1964 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > We've had a basic Miele for 10 years. Brilliant > hoover. Wouldn't touch Dyson crap with a barge > pole. Junk. Which and other reviews don't seem to think the Dyson cordless hoovers are junk! I agree Miele are good -I have had one in the past - but to the best of my knowledge they don't make cordless models. -

New vacuum cleaner - Sebo, Miele or Dyson? Upright or cylinder?
Sue replied to devsdev's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The latest Dyson cordless V10 is very expensive (relative to other cleaners) but has great reviews. I have been watching YouTube videos of it (sad I know) as I am thinking of biting the bullet and buying one. There are three versions of it, which seem to differ only in their colour (purple, gold or red) and the accessories they come with - which may be important to you depending on what you want to use the cleaner for, eg there is a dedicated head for hard floors. The stick part also comes off so you can use it as a hand-held cordless for cars etc, though I guess most of them must do that. ETA: I'd be a bit wary of clicking on the link in the post above, this person has only just joined the forum and made two posts, both about vacuum cleaners ..... profuse apologies if the two posts are from a genuine poster. -
Spate of break ins in and around Crystal Palace Road

I don't understand the lack of police interest/action in either of them. Is it that the police are too busy pursuing more "important" crimes to bother with mere thefts, even when it seems there would be a good chance of catching the thieves? Is there some new policy to ignore thefts, due to the Tories' slashing of the number of police? Or what? Because it (obviously) seems to me that the thieves have no incentive whatsoever not to continue with their thieving if they know that the police won't investigate it even with CCTV evidence and even with evidence of where the stolen goods are being sold. Just another indication of the disintegration of society and the world, I suppose. Sorry to be negative. -

And copied to the CEO's office: [email protected] Maybe they'll get fed up with complaints from SE22 and do something about it. -

Surely they should have emailed their customers, explained there had been a glitch which had now been sorted, and apologised?!

So do I, but cynically I suspect it all stems from the present NHS underfunding/understaffing whilst the effing Tories prepare to privatise the NHS. Not that that excuses any individual/systemic failings in the sorry saga above.

Robert Poste's Child Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- (If James Barber was still in > office he'd have picked it up already I should > think - come back James...) Much as I think James was an excellent councillor, I think it's a bit unfair to expect councillors to pick up on every issue raised on the forum unless it's specifically brought to their attention!

185 bus (I have found it to be exceptionally poor)
Sue replied to EDNate's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If I'm going anywhere by public transport, I consult Google Maps as to which is the quickest route at the time I'm travelling. When I remember. If I don't remember and have a long and tedious journey, I curse myself all the way there for not remembering :)) -
Worst local transport journeys
Sue replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's London. There's traffic :) and constant roadworks :) I avoid any bus going down the Strand or anywhere on the South Circular during the rush hour, if possible. -
Definitely complain. That surely can't be hospital policy, so something has gone wrong, and somebody along the line should have realised that something was going wrong. A complaint to PALS will be investigated, and at the very least may prevent this happening to anybody else.

185 bus (I have found it to be exceptionally poor)
Sue replied to EDNate's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
EDNate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > singalto Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Denmark Hill to Victoria is quick. > > > That's not the entire journey You asked for other people's experience, and a lot of people above have given helpful suggestions. If none of those suggestions are acceptable to you, it's hard to see what you can do other than to move again - somewhere which is more convenient to you for your transport requirements ..... When my workplace relocated, I used to sometimes have a nearly two hour journey back from work in the rush hour. It was annoying, but it's part and parcel of living in London. ETA: When I moved to East Dulwich, it was because it was relatively easy to get from here to where I was then working. I deliberately didn't move to a part of East Dulwich which would not have been so easy, being either a long walk or a bus ride from the station. You have to weigh up pros and cons. I assume you chose the house/flat and area where you are now living for a reason. -
185 bus (I have found it to be exceptionally poor)
Sue replied to EDNate's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't really have a problem with the 185. If I'm doing something time critical I use the Bus Countdown app (or Google maps, sometimes more reliable) to see when there is one due before I leave home. You could always get a 176 or 40 to Camberwell Green, if one comes first, then change there and get the first bus up to Vauxhall, though it's a bit of a pain as you have to walk round the corner. I just looked on Google Maps and it's reckoning around 40 minutes from my house (North Cross Road area) to Green Park tube at the moment by public transport. Obviously it will depend on the time you are travelling and how heavy the trafffic is. -
JohnL Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I tap - but it's embarrassing when every 15 times > you get "declined" because they want you to enter > your pin. > > Beginning to go cash again. But why is that embarrassing? It's done for security reasons (in case someone steals your card and then makes a load of contactless payments). Shop assistants and other shoppers know this, surely? And anyway, if a contactless payment is declined, it will go through once you have put your PIN in. It must happen to everybody!

TfL plan to reroute Bus 40 away from London Bridge
Sue replied to Bic Basher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
jrpfinch Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > This essentially leaves buses for the elderly, > disabled, ill, parents with small children and > drinkers. Just to say, one of the reasons there are so many recommendations on here for Nico is that (at least in my experience) he asks people to put them on here, and I suspect that they then feel they have to. Call me cynical, but I'd rather use a busy and efficient plumber who doesn't need to do that (yes I have one).
