The bottom part of the window frame has rotted and come away from the glass. I agree it's an accident waiting to happen but I have no idea who it should be reported to. Also, worryingly near kids coming to and from the school.

I was told a few weeks back that St Christopher's would take electrical goods if the flex (?) was removed. Obviously that would not be appropriate for some items. I then took a brass vintage table lamp in which would have to be rewired when bought as I had cut the flex off. I sincerely hope they have not binned it as I think it was worth quite a bit.

Who is giving them these "projects", do you know? (and do you know what they are?) Surely if there is somebody in charge it should be someone with a basic grasp of the need to keep on top of maintenance?!

I thought it was for sale by auction not that long ago? And when the sign came down, I presumed it had been sold?

Well yes, most places are green and lush due to all the rain we had earlier combined with the spells of hot weather. Unfortunately much of the greenness and lushness in the park borders is (or was when I started the thread) weeds. For those who aren't gardeners, the problem with weeds is not just that they can look very unsightly in what are supposed to be ornamental borders, but that they compete with the plants which are supposed to be there for space, nutrients and light. Also, they self seed all over the place and within a very short time what started off as a few weeds have taken over the whole of the space.

Crikey, once this is all sorted (good luck) maybe you should change your property management company .....

If you just want it as a deterrent, you could install a fake one (or two) yourself?

How rude. As I said, I am busy. There are lots of things I would like to do if I had the time. Why should I stop posting on here? It is a break from other things, and keeps me in touch with what is going on locally. Since I have lived here a long time I am presumably allowed an interest. You must have a lot of time on your hands if you could be bothered to look up the number of posts I have made just to have a go at me.

In case you want to go to the jam tonight, the Bowls Club is by the riding school on the South Circular. It is on the same side of the road as the old Harvester (disused pub on the corner). There is more info about the jam here: https://southwarksportsbowlsclub.co.uk/events/ ETA: I have just contacted Davide to let him know that much of the text on there is unreadable against the grey background, at least it is on my laptop :))

ETA: And I had no intention of complaining to the Friends, I just wondered if they could shed any light and/or put pressure on the people in the council responsible for the park upkeep. In any case, I don't think it should be down to volunteers to maintain a public space.

Whereas the women in the cases referred to by Lush were not. In fact they were in relationships with men who had taken on completely false identities. ETA: And whilst you could say those policemen should not have done it, it was what their job required. So the really dodgy coppers in their case were further up the chain - the ones who thought that getting a policeman to go as far as to father a child with a woman totally unaware of who their lover actually was was perfectly OK. Not that that excuses anything.

That sounds like bad news. Surely they must have a contract laying down standards to be met? Have they sacked staff from the previous maintenance company, to save money? It isn't just weeds, although they are currently all over most of the beds in the park, it is general lack of any care, eg grass paths in the sexby garden do not appear to have been mowed, and the pond in that garden is an absolute mess. It all reminds me of when parks departments were made to go out to tender, and lost their permanent staff. Places like The Rookery in Streatham went downhill really fast because - I imagine - councils went for the lowest tender, with predictable results.

So was it worth it? ( the recent festival on Peckham Rye)

:) The confusion has arisen because some people have answered a post without quoting the original, and another unrelated post has got in between. Easily done :)
-
I think two separate sightings have got confused in the thread! Some people are talking about a stag beetle sighting, others about a rose chafer.
