No idea what it's like as I have never bought any, but there is a stall selling fresh pasta in North Cross Road on Saturdays. ETA: No idea if it's there every week, but I think it is.

Penguin68 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- My brown bin sends out a scout to consolidate waste and put it > into the road for the lorry following to collect - Crikey, a smart brown bin, blooming modern technology :)) Thanks Penguin68 and nxjen, I'll see if the bags are still there tomorrow and if they are I'll contact the council. It's a bit annoying as I had carefully lifted them over the wall to put them by the bins, and they're sopping wet, as well.

I will do provided I'm sure it actually is a missed collection .....

It was my blue bin collection day today, and the bin people have emptied my blue bin and my small brown bin, but have left three brown council paper bags of garden waste (weeds mostly) which I had left on the pavement with my bins. Just wondering whether anybody else has also had this? Are the brown bags collected separately? I always thought they were collected with the rest of the recycling.

It works both ways. I know people who moved because of the people who moved in next to them :) ETA: Also, different people have different expectations and tolerance levels for noise, and different kinds of noise, frequent or one off.

Curry Club - Thursday 7 March 2019 - venue TBC
Sue replied to Michael Palaeologus's topic in The Lounge
The last time we went to the Curry Cabin (and at one time it was our local Indian restaurant of choice) the reason given for a meal that let's say was not up to their previous standards was that the chef was drunk :)) It was all a bit Fawlty Towers :)) -
I also live in a Victorian terrace and yes, as I'm sure with any adjoining houses, I can hear sounds from both sides and no doubt they can hear me. Also, sounds travel in weird ways.

I use Plusnet, but I'm shortly coming to the end of my current contract and will be comparing different options. It's OK, their customer service has been good when I've needed it, with helpful advice. WiFi is patchy but I don't think that's Plusnet's fault, and moving the router a very small distance greatly improved things in a bad corner of my living room.

There is already a thread on here about this.

I lost a brooch last night somewhere between The Ivy House and the North Cross Road area. I went via the 484 and then walked up Crystal Palace Road. It is a wooden painted cat. It isn't worth anything but I was fond of it. If you happen to have picked it up, I'd love it back. Small reward for its safe return!

I thought it was Moxons who were opening the restaurant, have I misunderstood?

Can't remember if it was because of the postcode or because of a subsidence claim (except it wasn't called subsidence by the insurance company at the time, plus it was caused by faulty drains and was completely sorted) in the dim and distant past. ETA: Oh sorry, I have just realised this is about contents insurance. Though I have a joint buildings/contents policy.

Yep. Same up Sydenham Hill. It's the tailgating I find really intimidating. DbBoy, what do you mean? It's perfectly possible to travel at 20mph. That's a different issue to whether that's a reasonable speed limit on particular roads, which I would agree in some cases it isn't.

It isn't a council park, is it? That's probably why?

Renata Hamvas Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Council officers So I'm sorry to be thick, but how often is a council officer likely to be around when a driver is parked with his (or her, but it usually seems to be his) engine running?

My street is quiet! The builders have gone from the roof opposite! The people repairing the water pipes in the road a few houses down have gone! The shouting and swearing has stopped! The road is not blocked by gigantic lorries! I don't have to have my Pzizz app on Focus to try and concentrate on what I'm doing! I'm so happy :))

Still nothing on Facebook or Twitter that I can see, but I guess they have more important things to do at the moment :) -

Just > being kind to myself has helped, lots of vitamin > c, eating well and plenty of red wine! I don't think anybody is suggesting it is flu? Flu generally makes you extremely ill and bedridden and totally incapable of doing anything. It's not what I call a cold, either, although it has some of the same symptoms and yes, probably they are both viruses. What I call a cold starts with a sore throat, progresses to a runny nose, you feel a bit shit for a day or so if it's a bad cold, if you're unlucky you get a cough, but it's over in a relatively short time. It doesn't involve very sore eyes (oh and very dry lips are another of my symptoms), and it doesn't keep coming and going. As regards antibiotics, my daughter was on the verge of being admitted to hospital on Friday night because she self-diagnosed her chest infection as a virus and insisted that antibiotics would not work. When she eventually phoned 111 for advice, she was told to go to the emergency GP, who told her that her heart rate was high, which was a sign that the infection was going out of control, and put her on antibiotics immediately. She was told to come back a few hours later and that if the situation hadn't improved she would have to be admitted. At 10pm she was told that luckily (and to my astonishment because she had only taken one dose) the antibiotics had kicked in and she hasn't had to be admitted. My point in all this is not for a minute to suggest that everybody should rush off to their GP at the first sign of illness, but to suggest that to self-diagnose yourself with a virus and assume that therefore it cannot be treated is not a great idea if you are clearly rather ill :)
