  1. I think the nearest one previously was at Crystal Palace, so this will be much more convenient! I'm hoping they will have a shredder which takes a load of sheets of paper at once!
  2. That's very good news, but where in the Leisure Centre are they going to put it?
  3. Will it still be solely for children's clothes, toys etc?
  4. Kalamity Kel described it in the post that you have quoted ........
  5. I don't mind getting the ball rolling, but there would have to be more organisers than just me 🤣 I've got more than enough to do already. Also as I often don't recognise faces or remember names, I wouldn't be an ideal person (though in the old days, we had labels with our forum names on, if memory serves) Sorry admin, I've gone well off topic.
  6. Great idea! Yes, I think the SE22 curry club died a death. The restaurants were all much of a muchness at the time anyway, apart from Ganapati. Nyge and I were also recently discussing whether people would be interested if we restarted the Forum Drinks. They used to be fun, but I think the main organiser moved out of the area, as did some others, and nobody else was very keen on taking it on. Unless they are still happening covertly 🤣 If memory serves they were monthly, and in a different pub each time. It was good to be able to meet people in real life who post on the forum. I might start a separate thread at some point to see if anyone would be interested.
  7. Really?! No wonder they still had so many left when we passed! What were they? How much did they want for them?! That seems an extremely strange way of enticing people into a new shop!
  8. I saw my GP at The Gardens on Wednesday, had blood tests yesterday at Tessa Jowell (not the surgery, the blood testing place) and had a text from my GP surgery this afternoon with the results. Your experience sounds appalling.
  9. Yes, The Gardens is excellent and often recommended on here!
  10. I don't suppose it will take up the whole of the park! The one in Peckham Rye Park doesn't affect anyone's enjoyment of for example the Sexby garden, the lake/pond, the Japanese garden or the nature garden, so far as I know. Or were you joking?
  11. We like Radha Krishna Bavan, a South Indian restaurant near Tooting Broadway station, but sadly they don't deliver to SE22. They have really good lunch deals and the food has been excellent without fail so far, plus too much to eat (doggy bags willingly provided by the lovely staff!) Probably wouldn't make a special journey to go there, but go there quite often for lunch when visiting my niece, who lives in Tooting. Can't remember if they do dosas, though
  12. What I couldn't understand was on the day H&B opened (or at least the Saturday after it) they had two people standing outside with trays of something round their necks, as if they were selling ice cream at the interval in a 1950s cinema. These things appeared to be free samples of something (can't remember what. Magnesium tablets? From the labels on the little jars?) There was nothing to say they were free, nothing to say what they might be useful for, and no apparent attempt to engage passers by, or even to hand them out to passers by. What was the point?! It had the opposite effect on me, as they looked so bored and fed up We did have a wander round the shop, but the only thing they had which I might have bought ( a particular kind of milled seed which Health Matters don't stock) I can get cheaper in Waitrose !!! ETA: I only buy their nuts when they are on offer (and freeze them) 🤣
  13. Yes, given the clear (and predictable) failure of Brexit, all the negative effects, and the overwhelming proportion of people agreeing that it has failed, I really can't understand why Labour have gone down the "making it work" road. But then I have no idea of what reversing some or all of it might involve. Also, Reform don't mention Brexit much, do they? If at all. They push other aspects of what they say they stand for. So the people inclined to vote for them have probably completely forgotten they were ever associated with Brexit.
  14. Maybe they would just leave them turned. In a world gone suddenly mad, it makes many individuals feel better to think they have made some protest, however small, even if they know that it makes no difference at all in the great scheme of things. Surely that's better than just blind (sorry I can't think of a better word) acceptance of whatever dreadful things are going on, or turning a blind (sorry again) eye. History shows us where that has led in the past. And in the case of the Tesla sellers and non purchasers, it has actually significantly affected things, albeit not the political things which matter.
  15. If anyone is interested, there are a number of 2 for 1 and other H&B offers online at the moment (including for nuts, not 2 for 1 for nuts though) plus an additional 22% off if you use the H&B app and spend over £40. Some of the offers are available without the app. You can pick up in Lordship Lane which is easier than waiting in for a delivery. No idea if the offers are also available in store, but you wouldn't get the extra 22% discount then. Only on till midnight tonight, sorry, I have only just seen the offer, because I was looking for nuts. Oh, and I did buy some things from Health Matters earlier today!
  16. I passed Malabar Feast earlier today, and it said "Under New Management" . Apart from the soggy dosas, which I don't think should be on the delivery menu, I really hope they don't change the rest of the menu, or the chef/s, because it is our go to (bad choice of words) delivery place of choice, and absolutely everything else we have had there has been delicious.
  17. Is that the right link, Ianr ? If so, I don't understand?
  18. I was in Forest Hill Road today, just past the Rye, and noticed there is a dentist next to the Herne (pub) that has NHS signs outside. I've never had any problems getting NHS dental treatment in East Dulwich, and I get regular check ups. I've been to three different dental practices here over the years, all with NHS treatment. I think the difficulties are in other parts of the country. Malumbu has a good explanation above. I didn't hear the Radio 4 programme, but I'm guessing that a radio programme is not going to have time to say where you CAN easily get NHS treatment, and is bound to focus on the negatives and the horror stories, otherwise it would be very boring! ETA: Re children's teeth, I think the major issue is not lack of dentists, it is children being given sugary food, drinks and confectionery which rots their teeth. The education of parents needs to be about this, not just about tooth brushing. And in some cases the poor diet may also be due to lack of money for healthy food. Though of course the lack of dentists doesn't help, if the tooth rotting can't be rectified by fillings or extraction.
  19. Don't know, sorry. Do you use Gmail? I think that gives you the option to do both. But I'm a bit confused about the references to your phone. Have you tried googling the content of the emails, to see what comes up and if other people have had the same thing? Is the attached (in red) the options you are getting? Blocking would stop the emails coming to you from that sender again. So you wouldn't need to go down the "unsubscribe" route if you don't want to click on unsubscribe. Reporting spam would let gmail know there's a wider problem, presumably, but I don't know what they would do then. If you are getting inundated with the same emails, doesn't sound legit to me. I would at least go for the blocking option!
  20. Mark them as spam? Then they should in future go straight into your spam folder, if not stopped at source (don't know what the correct term is).
  21. Really? I can't bear to watch 😂 I haven't got much time for either of them, for different reasons, though my view of Starmer had gone up a bit lately. Mind you it was starting from a very low level.
  22. In the move? Are you still in it? 🤣🤣🤣
  23. What I can't get my head around is why anyone would vote for Trump in the first place. OTOH .. Boris Johnson. Nigel Farage. Kemi Badenoch (ok, different kind of vote, but WHY?) Alice???
