And never saw one when we did the Riverview walk earlier in the year, either :(
  2. Wouldn't it be preferable to inform the banks concerned? It's unlikely the person who has lost the cards reads the forum, but it's very likely they have cancelled the cards with all the hassle that entails until they are replaced ....

  4. We had lunch there during their soft opening. All very acceptable, and a nice wine was recommended to match our two quite different main courses, but we couldn't afford to eat (or drink) there often at their normal prices. I'm sure it will do well though, as it will attract people less skint than us :) The service was friendly, and we liked what they had done to the room where ToastEd used to have the big vats (?) of wine.
  5. At Grove (and probably elsewhere) you can apply for just half a full size plot, or maybe even smaller. Explosion? Thunder?

Not thunder then! Nygel and I both heard through double glazing, a series of what sounded like explosions. Very glad if it isn't, but would like to know what it was.
  7. Anyone know what's going on?
  8. Thanks for letting us know. Hope you are feeling less shaken today. Horrible thing to happen, but great that people helped.
  9. :)) :)) :))
  10. I also had a young woman walk in front of my car yesterday while looking at her phone. I think it was in Crystal Palace Road. She just stepped into the road engrossed in her phone without looking in either direction for cars or bikes coming, and evidently didn't even hear the car.

  12. It's here! It's in! It's standing for four hours before I can turn it on! Hooray! Thanks everybody for your help, they did have a bit of trouble, it was a really really tight fit past the stairs, but hey all good.
  13. That's very sad. She must have jumped. I can't see how anybody could accidentally fall from there. Assuming we are talking about the bridge at this end of the woods? But it surely isn't hard to get down to the area below the bridge to reach her?
  14. :)) :)) :)) There's a thought! I don't think I want the great and good of East Dulwich to see inside my tip of a house though :)) :)) :))
  15. Their pizzas were indeed excellent. There is another thread here, not sure why there are two: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,1882194
  16. A Dulwich Arts Centre would be brilliant. What a great idea. ETA: Thanks so much for the information.

It is a nightmare trying to turn out of my road when something has parked at the corner. I thought this was illegal, anyway? Decades ago I was fined for parking too near a corner.
  18. :)) :)) :)) Yes! The cardboard thing has been done and all looks good. The freezer is arriving on Thursday, hooray!! Fingers crossed!!! ETA: Now I've discovered my microwave roof is rusty (I thought it was manky food :)) ) plus my dishwasher only deigns to wash the dishes intermittently. And I've just remembered I threw out my toaster which I got decades ago for a fiver, so I need a new toaster too. Kitchen appliances, eh. First World problems, etc.
  19. There is a white canvas bag hanging on the roadworks barrier outside Hisar. It has some things in eg what looks like an umbrella. Have not investigated closely. Assume someone dropped it and someone else hung it there.

However those of M&S say on the pack "From hens that are free to roam on grassy pasture amongst trees." End of debate :))
  21. Blah Blah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > All I have pointed to is that people exaggerate > when they feel disproportionately outraged. You think he "exaggerated" when he said he saw somebody encouraging two children to ride through a red light? And you think his outrage at that was "disproportionate"? ETA: What would your response have been if one or both of the children had been hit by a car?

It must be a total money pit! When it reopened after the refurb, they were giving away vouchers in the High Street. There were people there presumably from the Co-Op Head Office. We were told that there were "lots of new lines." We walked all round the store and couldn't see any. And now it seems to be even worse than it was before. I would happily shop at the Co-Op (and still do occasionally) if only they would up their game. I can't see how they are managing to stay open.
