I can however think of two examples. One was Jacks, the cafe in Pellatt Road - long gone. The other is the newish crepe place in North Cross Road, which seems to be more closed than open and I can't imagine is going to last long, though I hope I'm proved wrong.

The pneumonia jab is not an annual one, apparently. If you are over 65 you just need one, which protects for life. I wouldn't have thought a surgery should offer it at the same time as a flu jab, in view of the fact that both of them could have side-effects, but then I'm not a medical professional so who knows. http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vaccinations/Pages/pneumococcal-vaccination.aspx

Same here, Loz. And I've just read this: Amongst other things, it says the current vaccines which target specific strains of flu each year basically don't work on people over 65. Just seen a bird of prey in my very small garden after hearing wings flapping. Not sure what it was, but it wasn't a Peregrine Falcon. Buzzard? It saw me through the window and flew off before I could get a photo. Only the second time I've ever seen one in the garden. The last one got a starling, and I've never seen a starling in the garden since. Hope the sparrows come back :(

It's certainly the fungus/toadstool season, and many of them are poisonous. They could well be growing on a compost heap. Could the vet do some sort of toxicology test, or would that be prohibitively expensive?

What is put on the compost heap? I'm wondering if it is plants which have been sprayed with weedkiller?
