  1. I am about to donate, but I'm worried about what I have read about the donated money not getting through to the people who need it. Can anybody tell me if that has been sorted out now? I don't know where the problem lay. And was it money via a particular website, or all of it?

I can't > bear the thought There's only three wooden ones, they are mainly plastic. I'd obviously prefer to get rid of the whole lot at once, but if nobody answers the ad I've placed in the For Sale section, i'll get back to you if you still want the three.
  3. Thanks, but I don't think dry cleaners would want them, they aren't wire, they are wooden and plastic. Maybe I'll put an ad on here, I just don't want to bin them really, seems a waste.
  4. OK, ta. Hospice shop/s?
  5. Don't want to cart a load up there and find they won't take them. Thanks.
  6. I have birds nesting in some climbers which my neighbours would like me to cut back as they are shading their garden. The mother bird is still flying in and out with food. I can't see exactly where the nest is. I don't want to do anything until the babies have fledged, but how will I know when that is? I'm also worried there may be other nests in there, which obviously I don't want to disturb either. Any advice welcome!

  8. Started before 7.45 this morning. Admittedly I have the window open this weather, which doesn't help.
  9. I have put up with screeching and screaming children (in another road, not mine) for years and I have had enough too. They are out in the garden really early and wake me up through double glazed acoustic glass. Sometimes with loud adults too, presumably parents. I am really glad someone else has raised this as I'm really not sure what if anything I can do about it :( I have had to change the room where I had my office as my heart sank every afternoon when presumably school or nursery was over and they came home to screech :( ETA I know they are disturbing other neighbours in their road as well. I am a mother and grandmother, and I know kids scream and screech, but before 8am on a Sunday morning as happened once is just bloody antisocial. Do the parents not notice when they open the kitchen doors and let the kids out that the rest of the neighbourhood is really quiet?

A general election now will be affected by students being on vacation, which is likely to affect the Labour vote.
  11. Apparently fireworks somewhere near Old Street according to friend on Facebook. Glad someone has found something to celebrate this week :(
  12. So is that the end, then?
  13. What are banging noises in North Cross Road area (and possibly wider)? Doesn't sound like thunder. Fireworks?
  14. I think the petition obviously comes from a caring place, but waiving fees for one particular case, however emotive and deserving, would create a precedent. How would JustGiving be able to decide what causes should have their fees waived in the future, if asked?
  15. Yes there did but now I think you can just use the loos in the library. Though last time I did that, I came out to find what appeared to be a coach load of female tourists queuing :))

  17. O.M.G. A rat has just run along my garden fence and up the climbers to the roof. I imagine looking for bird nests. I hold you responsible for chasing it away from your house, Foxy :( Perhaps the exorbitant amount of money you paid to the pest controllers could extend to this one :)) If it's the same one, it appears to have got a new lease of life :)). Must be that expensive poison :))
  18. There was a spate of this some years back. On that occasion it was just before Mother's Day. My window boxes are now secured to the window frame with chains. They could still be removed, but less likely.

I don't think that's true. I heard him speak just after (literally just after) he had been put under pressure all afternoon by Labour MPs who wanted him to stand down as leader. He was totally inspiring. That was months and months ago. The only reason anybody would think otherwise was because of biased media coverage. I doubt very much any consultancy has been involved. He didn't need it.

Ordinary rat poison works fine. How on earth can they justify charging ?180? How long were they there for?

I have no idea what may be the nature of Diane's illness, but sometimes when I've been unwell in the past (physically, but also including being off work with stress) I couldn't do anything much at all, let alone anything requiring thought. I agree she shouldn't have been put in that position if she was ill, but we have no idea of the background.
  23. I'm sorry about your bad experience, but when you say wearing clothes of a colour relating to a political party, what do you mean? Theresa May has been wearing red a lot lately, but I guess she wasn't trying to get people to vote Labour!
  24. Rats are everywhere in London. It's just that we don't usually see them.
