Grayson Perry is a great artist AND he happens to enjoy dressing as a woman/girl sometimes. Presumably the various aspects of the personality of any artist will inform their art, whether it's cross dressing or anything else. Louis Killen, who you won't have heard of, is a fantastic singer who only very recently has publicly come out - in his seventies - as having an alter ego, Louisa Killen. He has - extremely bravely in my opinion in view of comments of people like yourself - appeared on stage in women's clothes. Are you suggesting that if he had done this at an earlier age it would somehow have given him an advantage in getting bookings/record contracts? I think not. His image was of a bearded, masculine, deep-voiced guy who sang songs about mining, the sea and stuff. Cross-dressing is hardly going to turn crap art into great art. And there are always going to be some people who think some art is crap. I think much of what Damien Hirst has done is crap, but that doesn't seem to have held him back :))

Thanks for this, I will go to his show, I saw the first episode of the television series and I thought it was brilliant. Loved what he did and looking forward to the other two. ETA: Parkdrive, your post is just pathetic. Are you one of those people who think everybody should be just the same as you? Thank Christ they aren't.

That's medium sized in numbers, not in height or girth, obviously, which for us is around 100 people. So a multi-use space would be great. But there was a thread on here a while back suggesting an Arts Centre type place which could incorporate a space suitable for music gigs/cinema/art exhibitions etc, and cold water was thrown at it from all directions as I recall (though my memory is crap so I may be recalling wrongly). Sue (Half of The Goose Is Out!) ETA: We'd be very happy to discuss possibilities with the OP or indeed with anyone else re a new local multi-use space, but we'd have no capital to put into it. We also need somewhere licensed to sell alcohol.

Been on the ale, Flappers? :))

Mugging by Peckham Rye/Barry Road, Friday Night

Sorry to hear this too, and really very sorry that nobody came to help. Did anybody even call the police? You must be very shaken up, hope you're both OK. -

I didn't see all of it but from what I did see I thought the music was pretty mediocre and the choice of artists/songs very odd. The royal family looked quite ill at ease at the end mingling with the musicians I thought.

Have you tried googling for reviews of it? -

What you almost certainly saw was a grey squirrel with reddish fur, as sometimes happens. Sorry to disappoint you :) See the East Dulwich Nature Watch thread :)

Grey squirrels sometimes appear to be red. There is about a zillionth to one chance of the one you saw having been a true red squirrel of the tufty-eared variety.

2 x large grey round planters nicked fron front garden
Sue replied to cazzyr's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I had all my window boxes nicked a couple of years back, and now chain the replacements down :-S I was in as well when it happened. Was in the back garden, heard a scraping noise and thought nothing of it. The police said a load of people had had theirs stolen around the same time. It was just before Mother's Day. Bastards. -

We're certainly not in it for the money :)):)):)) ETA: And "folk" covers a very wide range of music - there's quite a bit of stuff described as "folk" that I don't like either.

And if anyone fancies seeing a band who play sixteen different instruments between them, come and see Crownstreet Upstairs at the Mag on Friday 8 June. OK you might think it's not your thing, but on the other hand you might be pleasantly surprised .... But - it's LIVE MUSIC IN EAST DULWICH which The Goose Is Out! has been putting on on a regular basis for over four years ..... :)) :)-D

mattydj Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ED is far too boring for live music. xxxxxxxxxx We had a sell-out gig at DHFC on Friday night with well over 200 people there, of all ages, to see Martin Simpson. Too boring for live music? Not. ETA: But it wasn't the kind of music mentioned in the OP, which was why I haven't posted before. ETA: One of the emails we received afterwards (wouldn't normally do this but but a bit peeved that people seem to think there's nothing decent happening locally with live music :)): "Just wanted to let you know that me and my friends had an utterly utterly BRILLIANT night on Friday. You know when you enjoyed it so much you feel quite exhausted after? Thanks so much for running these nights they are an absolute institution. It was so great to have performers of all ages too. I can't wait for the next one."
