  2. hellokiran Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xxxxxxxx Care to share the joke?
  3. Horsebox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > All that Artois has destroyed your brain cells. > > SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DRINK! xxxxxx Hey Horsebox, it could have been the mercury in my physics lessons - see the flu jab thread :))
  4. Bumpkin Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- I > rang 3 times and eventually someone came out and > emptied just ours which I was quite cross about as > I told them specifically that none of the bins on > our street had been emptied in over a month and > were all full. xxxxxxx Yes, it's a nonsense, if someone complains of a missed collection, the council doesn't seem to bother that other people's in the street might also have been missed, even if they're told.
  5. My understanding of that graph is more a horizontal line at zero :)) Running to infinity on the Minutes axis. ETA: I have just realised that that is probably the point of it :-$
  6. I did a couple of years back. Can't remember the exact time, because we were at an event on the South Bank which carried on after the fireworks had finished. So far as I recall it was a bit of a nightmare. Had to walk to the Elephant to get a bus (because of road closures etc.) then had to walk from Camberwell. Didn't occur to me to get a train as you'd have to go to London Bridge first which is in the wrong direction.
  7. Soon we'll be able to have a street party in Lordship Lane, with all these tables :))
  8. Chener Books is (are?) very kindly donating some raffle prizes. If any other local businesses are reading this thread and would like to donate prizes (we will publicise you all on the forum and at the fundraiser day) please let me (or Monica) know - otherwise we may come and beg in person :) Does anybody fancy organising a (home made) cake stall?
  9. The fundraiser day will be Sunday 22 January at DHFC (next to Sainsbury's). Probably from 2 - 9pm (come and go as you like once you've paid, children welcome). ?5, children under 12 free, and there will be a raffle too :) We are just sorting the bands, and we will try to arrange for food to be available. For more info watch this space! ETA: Confirmed so far are Fran McGillivray & Mike Burke, and the John McLean Band, all excellent local musicians who you may have seen either at the Goose Green Fair (part of the Dulwich Festival) or the Crystal Palace Road Street Party. Two spots down, five to go! :)-D

  12. There was a spate of burglaries when I lived in Topsham, in Devon, over twenty years ago. They did a whole row of houses in one night, including mine. I was alone in the house and in bed at the time. I heard noises but luckily didn't go downstairs because I thought I was being paranoid. I didn't have much to take, but they took the TV and some money from a drawer. Other people had a lot more stolen. Anyway, my point is, burglaries have always happened, and not just in urban areas. It's horrible when it happens to you, but I'm not sure they are necessarily on the increase round here (unless somebody has the statistics to prove they are).
  13. Peckhamnearbe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Seems the lad killed was an innocent bystander - > it could have been anyone of us: > xxxxxxxx That's terrible. It was terrible already, but that's even worse.
  14. Do we know there has actually been an increase, or is it just that more people come onto the ED Forum to tell us about them?
  15. This Land Is Your Land - Woody Guthrie etc
  16. Thomas Micklewright Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sue, I don't care if there aren't cows in fields? > Don't kid yourself into thinking you are breeding > animals to give them a chance at "having life", > they are bred for us to kill and eat them. > Tom xxxxxxxx Eh? OK, fine, I look forward to a countryside with no animals in it. Not. I think you have missed my point.
  17. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > There always a fair few well oiled people in the > CPT whenever I go xxxxxxx Yeah, they were so bloody well oiled at our last Goose singaround, they totally ruined it for everybody and we have had to move to the Mag. (6)
  18. There's always been a pre-Christmas craft fair in the hall next to the Irish shop in Lordship Lane, does anyone know if that will be there this year?
  19. tallulah71 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You've obviously never been there for Sunday lunch > / or in the Summer! The food is excellent - as The > Palmerston but a fraction of the price. xxxxxxx I've never had any food approaching what I would call "excellent" at the Herne, in fact quite the opposite. And yes, I've been both for Sunday lunch and in the Summer. Apart from the fact that it has a kids' playground, which is good if you have small kids, I can't understand what anybody sees in the Herne, frankly.

  21. eater81 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >> > Emily's fish bar on North Cross Road is the best > in the area. The bendy 12 was > never as packed as that in the morning. xxxxxxx Was it also packed upstairs? Because I've often noticed that people jam up the downstairs on a double decker, particularly around the doors, when there are lots of empty seats upstairs.

Unless you like squelchy swirly carpets and the smell of piss wafting from the toilets whilst you're having a pint.
