Usually if the CPS don't prosecute it's because they don't think there's a high enough chance of a case succeeding, eg not enough evidence, I thought?

  14. OK I've had several glasses of red, but I just want to say, if people didn't eat meat, then there would be very few cows, sheep, pigs or hens in the countryside, if any. At least they have a life, even if a fairly short one. And I personally think battery farming is a load more cruel than animals getting their throats slit. I used to live on an organic farm. Strange as it may seem, the farmers really cared for their animals, and their welfare, even though they were going off to be slaughtered at the end of the day. I was a vegetarian once. Now I'm not. But I would never knowingly eat animals who had spent their lives in a cruel environment.

I've often got a train from ED at weekends. ETA: What happened to that very helpful guy (Barry someone?) who was in charge of the trains round here and used to have a thread on the forum? I'm sure he would sort it out, should it need sorting out.

Rosie Posy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > As an aside the three guys busking, that was a > nice touch, you should go back!! xxxxxxxx Yes, they were great weren't they, a pleasant surprise :) I hope they'll be back too :) First time I've ever heard The Irish Rover in North Cross Road .....
  20. jimmyay Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm certain that there's no engineering on this > line. xxxxxxxx How do you know? If you can demonstrate that there isn't, then a strong case can be made to bring the weekend service back. But I suspect that actually there are works carried out. I agree it's a ******* nuisance, but I'd rather they did engineering works than people were killed due to the lack of them. And unfortunately the weekend is the obvious time to do them.

TheArtfulDogger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > (* the mums and buggies who insist that they > should take the wheelchair spaces despite the fact > their is not enough room to swing a ticket > inspector ! - however NOT all mums are that bad, > just a handful) xxxxxxxxx I think this is unfair. If there aren't any wheelchair users on the bus, why shouldn't mums (and dads - who care for children too) take the spaces? And if you've ever tried to fold a buggy up and then get two kids plus shopping (or whatever) onto a bus, and then try to get it all off and unfold it at the other end, you would know why parents tend to take the whole thing on. I have struggled with a double buggy plus my granddaughters on and off buses in Oxford, and I have only ever found both drivers and fellow passengers to be helpful and polite. Just glad I have never had to do it round here :-S Parents don't deliberately make things awkward for other passengers. They just sometimes have no choice as to how and when they make particular journeys. ETA: And it makes a very stressful experience worse if you have to let bus after bus go by because you can't get the buggy on.

After struggling for some time, I gave up. All that happened was I got a slightly squashed can which frankly took up almost the same space as if I hadn't bothered. Perhaps you could give us some tips as you are such an expert, Horsebox?

Don't get me wrong, I'm very pleased with it, but I was somewhat taken aback to find out later that I could have got an identical one cheaper at the V&A (I think, might have been Tate Modern) shop :-S
