Well I think they may have got the picture when I asked for some avocado and then went wandering round the room looking for some dressing. It wasn't very busy, it was in the afternoon. Maybe they're reading this thread as I type!

Had they asked me how I wanted the salad, I should certainly have asked for crab and avocado (it being a crab and avocado salad), passed on the olives and the sun dried tomatoes (I love them, but not with crab) and suggested they mix the components of the rest of the salad up and provide some dressing :) But hey, each to their own, I will order something else next time :))

Prices at charity shops have got higher and higher and in some cases you can buy items new cheaper than from certain charity shops. They are certainly no longer a cheap option for people with very little money.

Wish I'd been asked what I wanted in my salad :)

I guess if they depend on volunteers and they don't have enough or someone doesn't turn up, not much they can do.

I gave up on the incompetence theory some time ago. Edited to add: But it's not just Somerfield. I bought three bottles of wine for a tenner in Iceland recently and got charged for four. The cashier expressed no surprise when I pointed this out (I've now started checking all my receipts in supermarkets, sad though it may be). Nor did the person in charge seem surprised when they refunded me my money. Another customer said "Good thing you checked your bill." Yeh.
