Southwark adult social services did a brilliant job of finding a place for my special needs daughter and funding it. They have kept small libraries open. No library deserts.

Friern Road was access-only last night, closed at the Etherow Road junction. The water from the burst pipe had stopped flowing and there was a big hole in the road instead. The sign said they hoped to be finished by Sept 22nd but would finish before if they could 🙂

There's also a leak running down Friern Road "like a mountain stream" at 9am this morning.

Krystals Pharmacy in Nunhead is doing flu and Covid jabs from Monday. Just turn up if eligible, they say. Being over 65 means eligible. My GP (Nunhead Grove) has also offered me a flu jab by appointment

you can certainly switch from VM. Apparently they are under investigation from Ofcom for making it hard to cancel their packages. They are good at bidding themselves down so I should give it a try

we went directly to the insurance company who taped a wire equivalent of the slide across the cracks. They said it had been moving but was stable (the wire did not break). They told us to take down the trees at our own expense, redecorated and (at the next renewal) halved the price of the insurance.

are all these non-happening checks related to Our Future Health questionnaires? Mine was. The question was something like "have you smoked and given up?." I had -- about 45 years ago. I was rung up by someone who established that I smoked for 3 years at Uni and this was long ago. She told me I would be rung by a nurse last Friday who would establish whether I needed an MRI. No one rang. seems reasonable to me

Took BT about a month to install our new cable but it was a bumpy ride. At one point I was told installation would be December 23rd. It was actually the following Friday. Staff from Openreach were very helpful though a bit exhausted by the chaos. The BT connection (£29.99 for two years) is fine. I'm in Nunhead. -

the Law Society run Find a Solicitor https://solicitors.lawsociety.org.uk/ and on the same page a quick guide to common legal issues. The judge should be willing to delay the hearing if you ask, while you find a solicitor. Show evidence that you have been looking for one. Be sure to turn up to represent yourself and tell the judge what you want.

Mine keeps stopping but so far has restarted. I'm in Nunhead. It's always flaky at the weekends. Make sure you get a deduction for the period it's not working.

The right to use the highway belongs to the King and all parking is obstruction of other people's right of way. This is the whole basis of parking charges. The kerb side does not belong to the person who gets there first. All parking is obstruction, we have just got so used to it we feel entitled to do it. He should have a community psychiatric nurse keeping an eye on him in the community and making sure he takes his medication. The police (immediately) are the first port of call. Try the Neighbourhood Watch.
