Gosh, what insight into the forum from someone who is relatively new. Been 'lurking' long then? Personally, I only bother to read ????, Marmora Man and Loz in the DR. Most others are boring and I cannot be ar5ed to read their splenetic ramblings 'backed up' by Wikipedia. OK gross generalisation and off topic, sorry Chair.

I was going to say that I blame those 'socialists' for letting the bankers have their way but let's face it, dear Tony and Gordon were far from that. They might as well have been lightening the regulations on banks along with Thatcher. Danny Alexander - shame on you. Why go into politics when he had such a peachy job as Press Officer for the Cairngorms National Park? -

Didn't our dear Education Minister suggest that parents or more specifically mothers run the schools today? Brilliant idea. Faced with the challenges of the third form of St. Trouble they might decide that perhaps teachers are worth every penny and deserve a decent pension. In fact, the sanctimonious Gove should put his money where his mouth is and try it for himself. -

Oh dear Jeremy, sorry I have to confess it wasn't my idea. It was from reading some of the more constructive posts on the other thread on this subject that seems to have, erm, been moved. -

I'd like to wish good luck to the lollipop demo tomorrow. Seems like they are going for easy targets though I do agree that people could volunteer on a rota for once a month if they feel spurned into action and want to put the children's safety first and foremost (whilst still campaigning for the retention of the service). and dulwichmum, don't take it personally that your thread was moved. Some kind person tried to reunite the forgetful residents of Crystal Palace Rd with their cutlery and plates following a Big Lunch event. That thread was moved to the Lounge and swiftly disappeared. Mind you, how many places have a free local forum to remind them they have left their bone handled Sheffield cutlery from Aunt Agatha at Eric and Maude's next door? :)) There's also been a thread or two about the ED servicemen and women who served in the Great War moved to the Lounge. Perhaps those threads didn't have clear titles to make it evident they should stay in this section or something...but anyway, this place seems a tad untidier since SeanMac (RIP) left *sob* Fair enough though, its a free resource. -
Too many to mention for me personally and I humbly apologise to anyone I offended on the other fashion thread. You're all fabulous, string vests and city living wellie-wearing afficionados alike.

I can only eat a banana under these specific conditions: - I really, really, really have to be in a 'banana' mood - I have to chop either end off the banana before I could consider eating it - then it has to be sliced. Cannot be eaten straight from the skin or whole. What a weirdo...I know.

Fair enough, perhaps I'm being unnecessarily harsh but the blokes I have seen wearing them tend to look like they are trying too hard to be on trend so its put me off. Maybe they had low slung skinny jeans as well... Never heard of Chameau, I thought Hunter's revival was earlier than that actually. I predict Barbour wellies for next year's must have rubber wear btw.

Ok let me add to that list: String vests on anyone. Bolero jackets on large busted women. Fleeces. No matter how 'high-tec' or expensive they are, you still look scruffy. Dungarees. What type of fashion was going on back in '97? Probably boot cut jeans, ankle boots and puffa jackets. I shall add those to my list (with the possible inclusion of 'Chameau (2011) worn by men. In the city. Whatever the weather' too).

Crisp white shirts....with black bra showing through underneath. Horrible. Culottes. They don't suit anyone. Tartan trousers. Gladiator sandals. Ugg boots. Crocs on adults. 'Christmas' jumpers. Sequinned jackets and trousers/accessories. Leather trousers. Hunter wellies worn in the city. (Pleased for Hunter's sales figures and its given me many a laugh so shouldn't really complain). Although of course, it doesn't really matter what you wear, you've either got it or you haven't. Best to be yourself.

Happy Birthday to the lovely Laddy Muck! Hope your day is fab x x :)-D

I agree. I suggest all you yoghurt and puy lentil/hand-rolled Palestinian cous cous loving cyclists do yourselves a favour and go purchase a ten-litre Range Rooney. Immediately.

Mockney - I always suspected there were super forum features like this. Don't worry, I won't mention it to anyone else. The secret is completely safe with me. PS I thought *Bob*s last post was a bit bollocsk.
