I think it's absurd. He's arguably the busiest chap in the kingdom yet he still makes time to handwrite letters of condolence - a rather touching measure of the man (albeit we politically poles apart).
-
Sorry, t_in_sox - it was way past my bedtime!
-
I think that's somewhat unfair to Brendan, t_in_sox. I may not always agree with him, but he's a very genuine chap and something heartfelt should not be derided. (Unless it's on the cricket thread where it's mandatory.)

Very handsome!

Brendan, unless you're going in for Miss World, it doesn't really need saying.

Calm down, farder. -
No it won't. Where will I get the strawberry laces which I festoon my tree with? Not to mention the bag of gold coins.

I do hope they will have the illustration they use on this forum. -
In the church I attended this morning, there were testimonies from two young lads in The Rifles who'd just come back from Afghanistan. They were very moving and one of the men broke down when he described how his friend was blown up just a couple of days ago. Not ashamed to say I blubbed. A while later, after he'd recovered himself, he came back to say that the chaps really appreciate receiving shoe boxes with things like deodorant, shampoo, chocs, etc in. He will let me have the address (free post I think) and I'll post it up here when I get it.

Not at all. I've reduced the TV to M (medium) which is the lowest it will go, basically equivalent to a free view box. Upped the broadband to Large (it's what I use most) - I think it's 10 megadoodas. Telephone is Medium which is free weekend calls so I try to keep mid-week calls to a minimum (other options are available but this is what works out cheapest). I give the mobile to my daughter. That is ?10/month (but part of the bundle) and paid separately to Virgin Mobile. They have SIM only offers open until the end of November, so I've just changed that to 200 free minutes and unlimited texts - she has no excuse not to be in touch now! Hope that helps

Virgin Media I've just renegotiated my Virgin package - it was a luxury I couldn't justify at the mo. I was paying ?38/month for TV/ Broadband/Mobile/Phone. On their website they are offering new customers the same package for ?28/month. The first person I spoke to couldn't help but they patched me through to the Customer Service Dept. I had to wait about 20 minutes (so use the freephone number 0800 9522227 or dial free on 150) but the lovely chap I spoke to rejiggled a few things and reduced it to ?26.50/month. Result!

I have read the thread, and I'm not saying he isn't wrong. What I do know of Hugenot however, is that he would consider the above and admit to a mistake if he feels one has been made. I just don't see that because he hasn't come back to this thread in a nanosecond, he needs to be jumped on even more. -

Lay off the chap. Just cos he hasn't answered to your timetable, doesn't mean he won't. And I know he doesn't need me to stand up for him, but this is all coming across as petulant schoolboys. -

I think doing good/bad stem's from man's interpretation of what is a simple doctrine of grace and faith. I think all churches have ballsed up along the way which is why I think a bit of clarity does no harm. I can't imagine Jesus coming back and announcing himself in church. Probably straight down to Tooting Common for him!

Morning Hugenot. I think you have wilfully misinterpreted my admonishment. I know full well that Hugenots suffered religious persecution - that was my point.

Declan, I'm quite sure you don't want a discourse from me on the Hypostatic Union and the Communicatio Idiomatum. Others have covered it in far better style. I was merely pulling you on your 'doing good gets you into heaven' stance. I'm going to make a huge assumption that your user name suggests a Roman Catholic upbringing (very presumptious of me I know). No RC church that I've ever been to would posit that as a serious dogma. Hence my arrogant interjection. Right - where's that biro?
