  1. Here's a flounce for you, Brendan. Should look good at the crease and historically gave rise to overarm bowling! http://www.koshka-the-cat.com/queen/1873/queen4.jpg
  2. I have several swastikas on some old Rudyard Kipling books (that are set in India). It used to freak me too until I learned of its origin.
  3. If you don't want Annaj's and my offering, we'll flounce off and have our own tea party. What the hell is Mr Mac's bessie - the mind is truly boggling now.
  4. Need to rant. Got an access card at East Dulwich baths yesterday. Specified that I needed it for badminton at Waverley. Four staff members and two phone calls later, I was assured it was valid. Just rang Waverly to book court only to be told it wasn't. Can't afford to join there at the mo so can't book court. GRR. Extra rant: I signed up online yesterday only to be unable to book court because their website is incompetent. I am waiting to hear from my complaint email. Double GRR.
  5. Wheel that's alright then.
  6. Och, awhey with you SteveT.
  7. If the measure of a fan's support is that he sticks with a crap team for donkey's years, I beat you all hands down! (And me Grandda tried out for Millwall in the 30s). So ner.
  8. Blessed are the cheesemakers
  9. I had postal vote a couple of years ago. The ballot paper never turned up so I went to the polling station and was not allowed to vote because I should have received it through the post! Switched back pretty quickly, besides, I like to take my daughter along to the polling station - I think it's important to expose children to the procedure and it's always an excuse for a quick history lesson (Madam Pankhurst I salute you).
  10. This was posted in November: Dads and littluns playgroup every Friday Posted by: rsn 26 November, 2007 22:38 If you are a dad looking after your pre-school children on Friday mornings, Dads and Littluns is the place for you. We are an informal playgroup for dads and their babies and toddlers, open most of the year, even school holidays. Whether you look after your children full time or just have them some for the day, come by for a coffee. 10.30am -12.30pm The Clubhouse, Griffin Sports Ground, 12 Dulwich Village. Contact: [email protected] www.dadsandlittluns.co.uk
  11. I was walking a border collie off the lead in Peckham Rye when two unsupervised toddlers came running up to him screaming and chasing the dog and throwing gravel at him. He did what any self-respecting sheep dog would do to recalcitrant sheep and nipped one of the toddlers. That doesn't make him a dangerous dog but we do need to remember that even the best tempered dogs are instinctive creatures. It is ultimately the owner's responsibility, but I do think children should be coached not to approach dogs without permission [and I'm not suggesting that's what happened in this instance - just a timely reminder for future safety. On the same lines, children need to be reminded to stand completely still if they are frightened by a loose dog: running away and squealing (though completely understandable) again will provoke a chase instinct in a dog.]
  12. There has been filming on Adys Rd today in the swing park and a private house (?750 for a scene at the kitchen table - why, oh why didn't they pick my house?). Apparently it's for something on channel 4 about knife crime.
  13. If you take three score year and ten as your starting point, I reckon its 32-38. I'm currently enjoying old age and just wondering which cruise to take.
  14. You can buy this at chemist which should achieve same effect (welcome to my middle-aged world, Brendan) hangover cure
  15. Just use a solution of salt and sugar. Or better still, add salt and sugar to a Bloody Mary!
  16. What's that? A tot of whisky in the bottle and they're pickled?
  17. Is it my bias, or is the ref favouring Celtic somewhat?
  18. Here you go Jah http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/1895000/images/_1899228_milkbottles150.jpg
  19. Save a bit of wall for me - am making up a banner. "Just like a bod that's sitting by the water, we shall not be moved."
  20. I think its a great idea. I got my fireplace from a council run one in Peckham a couple of years ago. I think the council run them fairly often, it's just the advertising is a bit low key.
  21. Quite agree - my daughter has made two trips to A&E in the last six weeks and had an op to straighten her broken nose. The staff were absolutely brilliant in A&E and the theatre & ward. The only moan is reserved for waiting for drugs upon discharge - there has to be a better system - we waited 2.5 hours and then the pharmacy sent up the wrong ones. It makes Argos look good!
  22. Janie's got a gun - Aerosmith
  23. A Welsh welcome to the English second home owner will soon warm the place up!
  24. Well if you're giving it away, thanks.
