  1. Just finished blubbing my way through Champion's Story the amazing tale of Bob Champion and Aldaniti winning the 1981 Grand National after such adversity. I read the last chapter simultaneously watching the race on YouTube which heightened the experience. This quote from Champion sums up the spirit of the book: "I rode this race for all the patients in hospital. And all the people who look after them. My only wish is that my winning shows them that there is always hope, and all battles can be won. I just hope it will encourage others to face their illness with fresh spirit." Wow.
  2. Has anyone else thought Azul might really be Uri Geller in lurk mode? ps - there's a good watch repair stall in the indoor market in Peckham (the one down the lower half of Rye Lane)
  3. Nerds go ever ever on
  4. Perfectly, Keef.
  5. Well shove that for a game of sardines. Who dropped one?
  6. I am "as rare as a wombats wingnut" according to that site.
  7. I'm not sure you're right ????. I was at college with a lass whose vast family fortune was made from a huge estate agency chain - they were well established by the 70s.
  8. I think the Peckham one is the most endearing - Rodney - after which a certain character in Only Fools & Horses is named.
  9. You're right Bon3yard, electronic music is balls. ;-)
  10. What's the street like? Brilliant. Just been struggling to remove my car battery and my neighbour came out (with correct tools) and helped me, and lent me his charger. Great place.
  11. Take a look at my girlfriend - Supertramp
  12. I have a second cousin with the same name and surname. She is married so it was her maiden name now but I remember being very miffed when I first discovered her as I thought I was unique (odd surname).
  13. If you've already fallen down that rocky road, I fear nothing I could suggest would redeem you.
  14. Don't tidy mlteenie. Lots of procrastinating tools at hand. You probably have a large pile of magazines that need throwing out. This of course cannot be done until you have reread them. Fix yourself a large mug of coffee and settle down.
  15. I'm all for hunt sympathisers. Tallyho.
  16. I'm sure Dulwichmum will know if there is a communal ED box. [shudders]
  17. Don't do it mlteenie - embrace the acoustic virtuosity.
  18. Congratulations - beautiful names.
  19. Tired of waiting for you - Kinks
  20. A-dees. If it were to be prounced Addies it would surely be spelt Addys. That's my opinion anyway and I'm sticking to it!
  21. Hard Headed Woman - Cat Stevens
  22. Already a thread on it: 3 of a kind
  23. I flew with a friend to the Scilly Isles in a Robin. Scared the life out of me, especially as St Mary's strip is so short the engine has to be cut (or whatever it is those Biggles types do) well out over the rocks. Every thermal is felt in a small plane.
