  3. Site of the original Peckham Rye. Runs along the railway between Lyndhurst Way and Lyndhurst Grove in Peckham.
  4. Yes, but it's hard to prove. Even vets have problems agreeing - only sure way is a dna test. There are stringent rules for having a pitbull (neutering, registering, etc.).
  5. I think a 2CV is one of the cheapest.
  6. The arrogance of golfing umbrellas!
  7. RAC Club
  8. I thought he wrote about planes.
  9. Mairi's Wedding Captain Stratton's Fancy (says the old, bold mate of Henry Morgan). The Smugglers' Song (watch the wall my darling, while the gentlemen go by) And that little ditty about a prostitute: A Rovin' (in Amsterdam there lived a maid...)
  10. There's a plaque for Barnes Wallis on Queen's Road, going towards New Cross. I was explaining to my then toddler who he was and she asked where the one for Gromit was.
  11. I'm confused by the title. Do you mean next to "The Elms" or have elms been cut down? Didn't think there were any left to fell.
  12. Pick a bale of cotton Jamaica Farewell Pollywollydoodle all the day Oh Susannah don't you cry for me Streets of Laredo There was one in Hebrew which escapes me at the moment. Just remembered: Shalom chaverim.
  13. I was humming "Zena, Zena, can't you hear the music playing in the market square" yesterday. That was one of the one's we learnt. 14. Hope it's not the walnut tree.
  15. It's worth chatting to your doctor nonp. If it is depression (which it bloody well sounds like), there is no shame. A short term course of anti-depressants, and counselling is really useful. In the meantime, counting your blessings each day, while trite, does remind you about what's important and helps the sanity.
  16. I was corrected by a biology teacher, P'Rose, one can't forget early humiliations.
  17. Urban Dictionary: A shiv is a weapon made out of an commonplace object often in prison, also perhaps the origin of which is as a acronym a Self Honed Implement of Violence (SHIV). Also used as a verb 'to shiv' as in my example. Could also use a shiv to dissect someone (see what I did?)
  18. Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk, Talk about things you'd like to do. You got to have a dream, If you don't have a dream How you gonna have a dream come true? Hammerstein
  19. Well the "Pocket Oxford Dictionary: Do you know your King's English" puts it at i (with a reversed circumflex on top) pronounced as in 'bit'. The past is a foreign country, and I am from there.
  20. D'accord.
  21. Are you dissing Les Briley? Sainted person, no?
  22. Jacks09, it should be pronounced 'diss' as in "dis[respect] me and I'll shiv you." 'sect' as in "Christadelphians are a dubious sect".
  23. I know I've referred to it before. I know it's petty. BUT, it's pissing me off so it deserves a whole thread of its own. Yesterday on "NCIS" (Ducky you should know better). Tonight on "Monroe". Too many times in recent months, so now I shall log the mismentions (new word: I like it) on here. Together we can change the world.
