  1. The King is dead. Long live the King!
  2. Cricket anyone?
  3. I must admit to a slight wobble this morning when I walked across Goose Green: there were two pairs of shoes just abandoned.
  4. I'm back from work. I'm ready for my Rapture, Mr de Mille.
  5. I love Hastings. I learned to ride there. It used to be full of wonderful old second hand book shops; the pier had old penny slot machines and I won a towel at the Bingo. Winkles were second to none. Cliffs were great for scrambling over, and until it went nudist, Fairlight Cove was worth the struggle to get there. If it's gone Guardian, I shall mourn it.
  6. I can't join in - I'm currently reading "Little House on the Prarie".
  7. I can roll my rrrs - how much more do you want?
  8. How sweet that they embrace the beautiful paisley pattern - perhaps they should have paid attention in history lessons.
  9. maaxi, I think you need the thread on Surrey Docks Farm. I can't do The Rapture this Saturday, I'm working.
  10. I've lent things, even to strangers on the Forum - never had any probs. Equally, I've borrowed things (eg travel cot) and been v. grateful. It's a shame that you've been burned, but don't be put off. It's what makes the virtual virtous and engenders community. [did I really write that wanky sentence?]
  11. There is a superb window display at Mind at the mo (elephant in the room). Thanks for the tip H - I need a good cook book.
  12. I'm still concerned that crossing ED Grove will be a problem, unless there is a delay on traffic turning right, which will give pedestrians a chance to get across safely. Actually that doesn't make sense, unless the traffic lights for the new crossing are put on the north side of the yellow box but I doubt that will happen.
  13. RyeSmile (great name btw) - if you go on the Southwark Council website they have a section which will tell you how to apply. Think the actual office is in East Street (off Walworth Road).
  14. Here's one for Katy T: some lovely marsh buttercups by the boggy bit on the Rye.
  15. Bad luck Quids. Still, we can have a few bets next season.
  16. I hear they are very effective at hiding the bald patch. Go for it.
  17. Well thanks, that's very gracious of you, but many a slip ...
  18. Good start. Not sure if that settles the nerves or makes them worse. Edited - in the time it took me to find this thread and type the above, another two have been scored. I guess I'll go for settled nerves and a smug face.
  19. Quality will out, Alan. Here's a right gudewilly waught for Walter Smith.
  20. I know this is wrong, very wrong, but I actually liked the Jedward effort. Also liked Iceland and Austria.
  21. It's probably the lesser spotted flapjackdavius.
  22. Excuse me, do you have a light, please?
  23. I managed about half a chapter of this before I threw it away in disgust. Bad grammar gets my attention but doesn't usually bother me. However, in a book that purports to be about correct grammar and fragrantly disregards the rules, it is nothing short of hypocrisy.
  24. Oh dear, your mention of Ronco has just catapulted me back to the seventies and the purple satin hotpants with cross-over bib that I proudly wore. BTW - nothing wrong with tank tops - darling Donny wore one.
