  1. You mullered the sainted, sexy Davide! Blow me up now - I'm not having any of it!
  2. I rather like this chap's ethos http://www.memorabletv.com/features06/images/Trumpton_windy_miller.jpg
  3. My caddy was inside the bin - have you looked?
  4. ... where the kids start singing and the band begins to play?
  5. Oops. Sorry, that was said in pure ignorance. So where does the garden/food waste go? And if it's not landfill, why does it matter if the kitchen bags are biodegrabable or not?
  6. To be fair to Uzzy, sometimes it does seem that Peckham is only known for Fools & Horses or Damilola Taylor according to the press; but those of us who live there know that's not the only story. Do we really care what others think? It leaves Peckham for us who know better. I'm cool with that.
  7. They trap the cold air and warm it up - you can't afford a shock at your age!
  8. Loved his films and The Persuaders.
  9. @ Fushcia - with the new pilot scheme, we no longer have to separate newspaper/plastic & metal/bottles. They all get thrown in together.
  10. Vote Fuschia for Mayor! Agree - large recycling bins would be useful, especially as we no longer have to separate stuff.
  11. I don't think it matters, lorna. All waste (garden and kitchen) will go to the same landfill site. The 'plastic' bags are biodegradable.
  12. Oh Pearson, what utter rot. However, should David Essex darken my doorstep, I won't turn him away.
  13. Yes that's right lorna - the bags are biodegradable and sit in the caddy in your kitchen - then the full bags are put into the large brown garden waste bins. I was confused by the extra small bin which is superfluous to my needs. I suppose they are given to people who do not have garden bins.
  14. Okay - I've read the leaflet properly now! I can use the large, brown garden bin for food. That means I have a small, brown food bin and some bags going spare (I've been given 150!)if anyone would like it. Caddies can apparently be ordered separately from the council (www.southwark.gov.uk/foodwaste).
  15. Just received my kitchen 'caddy', food bin and liners. Am slightly confused - I thought everything was going in the large brown garden bins, but it appears not - now have an extra wee bin to keep out the front. Am I missing something?
  16. Happy birthday. Cheque's in the post.
  17. Interesting, Louisiana. Though Peckham Rye Common is mentioned in the byelaws, as it is common ground can they be enforced? For example, if I wanted to graze a sheep there could I?
  18. This might be helpful for some Beat cold callers and junk mail - MSE
  19. Have to say (as pedestrian and car user) that is actually a rather good suggestion - when I cut across the Green towards LL, I always try and cross the road at that point because the roundabout crossing (just on that arm) is a bit of a nightmare. I'm never quite sure as a pedestrian, that I'll get across safely because drivers, quite naturally, are looking ahead to see when they can get out. For some reason, I never get that feeling on the other crossings at the roundabout, perhaps I'm just strange.
  20. I saw a pair of jays in Peckham Rye Park yesterday. They were having great fun chasing each other around on the ground in short hops Wonder if they're the same pair?
  21. *shudders*
  22. Has 'Mistress' left the English lexicon?
  23. Are you saying you swing both ways, Brendan?
  24. Eat your heart out - they demolished the beautiful Peckham Bus Garage with nary a hiccough.
