  1. Hiya My boyfriend and I are looking at going to Thailand for 2 weeks in June. Anyone got any hints or tips on where to go, what to visit, what to do etc? We don't even know where to start - google takes us to package holidays or expensive tours, we would like to do a a tour where we spend perhaps 4 days in Bangkok, a few days in the countryside and then a few days at the beach. Don't want to spend too much money. A friend has just been travelling and said don't bother booking anything in advance, you can just turn up and pay pennies for a decent hotel, but I am worried as we'll be travelling in June this won't be the case. Thanks :)
  2. Sorry to hear of your burglary, we had Victim Support round today fitting a bar to our door and a chain - they're stopping the scheme on 31st March so if you're wanting a visit from them make sure you book them in soon! Wonder if it's the same scum who did our house a few weeks back :(
  3. Zeban, was just offering my opinion, no need to attack me for it. No I am not naive enough to do it and I don't even own a brand new phone, was just using it as an examp as one way it may be helpful to post these things. Plus if muggings are happening in certain areas or people are able to give descriptions of the muggers or how they operate then surely it I best to warn your fellow humanbeings. zeban Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > 'Poverty and hardship do not make criminals, in my > view parents have a lot to do with this.'- I > absolutely completely agree with you lindylou. > > Me and all of my siblings grew up in poverty and > went without a lot and were brought up by my Mum > alone- there are 5 of us- 1 boy and 4 girls. 4. I personally think it is a good idea to post muggings etc on here - I'd rather know about them and take precautions than walk around blissfully ignorant chatting on my brand new phone that would make me a target to criminals. Also think in some cases it can help with police investigations - for example as a result of my post about my burglary the other day, someone has contacted me with some useful information which we have now passed on to the police.
  5. Hi ann, thanks for your post. Unfortunately I do have a hard drive but this was also taken :(
  6. Hi we were burgled today on worlingham road between 8 and 6. They entered the side gate and broke in the back kitchen window. If anyone saw anything please can they PM me? They took 4 laptops, cameras, jewellery, games stations amongst other things. Hopefully they wont come back as there's nothing left to steal.also if anyone sees any items like above being sold on gumtree ebay etc let me know...long shot I know but thats probably where they're destined for. Funny as our laptops are all really old and worth nothing. Oh well. thanks for reading this. oh and if the thieves are reading this, thanks very much, hope you rot in hell. My laptop contained all my photos from my entire life, my uni work, Plus other sentimental items.
  7. Hiya Know this probably isn't your area and I always seem to be moaning on this thread (sorry!!) but do you know who I can complain to regarding the rail replacement service that never turned up yesterday? According to the national rail site, there was replacement services to London Bridge at 16.27, 16.40 and 16.57. I turned up at 16.15, waited at the wrong stop (the sign on the bin really wasn't that helpful - 'sorry there's no trains running to london today'), a bus came along but it was for Victoria and the drover said the LB ones were on the opposite side of the road (at this point this was the first rail replacement service, hadn't seen any on the other side of the road). So off I trundled to the other side of the road, waiting for 45 mins for a bus that never appears whilst missing plenty of 40s and 176s. I ended up darting across the road to jump on a 176 as it was clear the rail replacement wasn't going to turn up. It would have been helpful for the sign on the bin to say which bus stop to wait at for which London destination, and how regular the busses were also. Thanks in advance and sorry again for constantly complaining!!
  8. Looking to drive to sainsburys later coming from lordship lane....or should i wait till tomorrow? what's driving like?
  9. We keep getting post for him...
  10. and what about the delayed 8.14, which when it pulled up at London Bridge, the doors on the front carriage didn't open leaving people stuck on the train as it started to leave on its return journey!!! then they have the cheek to increase all rail fares.... edited to add I am not getting at Barry and realise it isn't his fault/anything to do with him - just a bit of a rant as getting fed up with waiting in the cold
  11. Thanks, and how much is a Zones 1-2 going to cost?
  12. Hi everyone Does anyone know how much an annual season ticket from January will be from ED to LB? Trying to work out if it is worth buying it in December before the proposed price rises or not... Checked the southern site but you can't see prices for Jan. Thanks
  13. it wasn't this morning (9am), there was a sign out saying closed as staff couldn't get in
  14. Hi Goldilocks, I have been flashing my season ticket to bus drivers all week and no one has said anything so I would say yes, if you have the annual ticket then your ticket covers route changes and disruptions anyway I think. Don't know about tubes though as you have to put it through the machine to get through the barrier...
  15. yes but the question was answered in the 2nd post, though i see what you did there :) thanks alec and dulwich fox... :)
  16. there are no rules anywhere in the english language that says you cannot start a sentence with 'but'. i learnt that on a training course the other day :)

    Driving

Middle lane hoggers really really wind me up. Because of drift or whateever it is called, you can be sitting behind a car doing 70 but you still catch up with them because of the aerodynamics etc, so you have to overtake - or they could be nice and move in so you don't have to. question - if you should always be in the left most lane, technically is it illegal to undertake if it isn't possible to overtake due to a middle lane hogger?
  18. me and my friends may be up for it too - started playing over at brixton rec but their courts seem to be fully booked all the time now....
  19. i really don't see how ED would benefit from a tube station - you can get to LB in 12 mins on the train so what's the problem???
  20. Articulate is quite possibly the best game in the world. You should also get Pictionary and get a whiteboard, so much fun, and there's this other game that is like pictionary but you have to make the objects out of playdo, i think it might be called rapido?
  21. i have always wondered if there was a bar there, always seems to be loads of people milling about, how do you get in? is it members only and there's a special code, you say "one doner, no onions and 2 slices of tomato" to be let in?
  22. The uniforms consist of jumpers, poloshirts, workmens trousers and boots - the jumpers etc will have our logo on it. Doubt anyone would wear it as leisure wear but I was thinking the trousers and boots could be worn for people doing messy work/manual labour - I would imagine my bosses don't want random people wearing our logo'd shirts but the material could be recycled. I only ask as I heard John Lewis sent a load of their old uniforms to charity so wondered if anyone knew of charities that could make use of the clothing.
  23. hmm anyone?
  24. Hi My company have about 50 of our uniforms that we no longer require, we don't want to bin them as it is a waste but we can't really give it to new starters either. Does anyone know of any charities that will take them from us to be used for people less well off? Thanks
