Strange bottles full of orange liquid
bloonoo replied to tarafitness's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We just sniffed. The first bottle smelt like off apple juice. The second bottle smelt like stale wee. We didn't sniff the third due to the smell of the second. -

if that's the case then I hate to think where the number 2s are going... -
Strange bottles full of orange liquid

This thread is making me giggle, I have walked past it for a few weeks and meant to start a thread on here but kept forgetting. Dared my flatmate today to open one but he bottled it (pun intended). They seem to have whitish creamy residue in the bottom, flatmate's theory is that it's leftover orange squash made up for a sports team. -
hiya they usually have a turn on/turn off function on one of the F keys, so see if pressing the FN key or the Alt key and one of the F buttons works, on my laptop it is F9 hope this helps

Fortnightly blue bin collection not enough?
bloonoo replied to Mrs TP's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
the bags for the brown caddy aren't that good - i started to put 2 bags in at a time otherwise it splits when you take it out, and it usually splits anyway when i put the plastic bag around the bin lip. -

No trains East Dulwich to London 12-13/11/11
bloonoo replied to Anders's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've never even seen a replacement bus! Actually I lie - one time I saw it when it was 10 mins earlier than the scheduled time on the National Rail site so I just had to watch it go off in the distance as I was walking to the stop. Have given up waiting for the replacement service and get the 40 now. -
E.D.Station controlled parking zone
bloonoo replied to joobjoob's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
that's ridiculous, so say for example if you're hosting your child's birthday party and you have 10 guests who all drive to the party that will last 3 hours, you'd have to pay ?16 (or ?32 if its your second book) to allow them to park? i wonder if anyone who works at the council lives in permitted areas and whether they get discount/special allowances, surely no one would agree with them. -
How does it encourage more waste? People aren't going to think 'oh, my bin is larger now so I will purchase more stuff to throw away the packaging' or am I missing something here?? I don't have a problem with the bins at all - i think it's great we can finally 'recycle' food waste, great we no longer have to separate glass, plastic, cans, and paper, and I think it should encourage more people to recycle because they don't need to sort items any more, plus tetrapaks can now be recycled. I really don't see how the colours of the bins should affect the positivity the council are trying to do to make the environment better and there's much more in life to moan about. Anyway I won't comment any more on this thread as I, in turn, am moaning, so I will go and busy myself with my other problems!!

Everyone complaining about the colour of bins or how frequently they're collected or the size of the bin needs to go and live in africa or somewhere and realise there's far more to life than the colour of their bin???? Be grateful we even have bins...

Jeez what is wrong with some people?? well said ellie78. i live on worlingham and like it - quiet road, though you do get people speeding down it sometimes. parking can be a bit of a pain and i have had to park in adjacent roads before but doesn't happen too often - usually when spaces aren't taken up by skips then there's enough space. good location too - you can walk to the station in 10 mins, peckham in 20 minutes, you're minutes from peckham rye park and lordship lane. i don't know about everyone else's houses but mine is very old - there's no straight corners, everything is wonky, no insulation, so freezing in the winter and cold in the summer, but as we rent there's not much that we can do about it. the road seems to be a mix of old and newer houses so depends on what one you're looking at. anyway good luck with your house hunting!

Haven't heard any but last night looking out the window i noticed every few minutes a low jumbo going over our house - not noticed it before so didn't know if it was new or just me being unobvservant

Argh the skips drive me insane, we have 3 down our (short) road currently, none of them with covers on so the rubbish gets blown all across the street. lovely! -
i really don't understand why they bother stealing laptops though - we had all 4 of ours taken, which were worth probably about ?100 in total as they were all so old! who on earth will buy a 6 year old laptop covered in scratches with a broken cd rom drive....when we were burgled they also stole my sunglasses, which look expensive but actually came free with a magazine 3 years ago - haha, love to see what they do with those.
-
Sorry to hear about the burglary, we were done a few months ago and it is a horrible thing to have happen. James, where can you get free property marking kits from?

I am with TMobile and every now and then, when I call someone or I receive a call, it sounds like the other person is a robot or underwater, but they can hear me fine. Doesn't seem to matter what Network they're on so I assume must be an issue with my phone, lasts a few hours then starts working normally again- very frustrating!
-
Interesting, do you go between 12-1pm in the adult lane swim? I have been at 8ish before but it is still busy, and don't really want to go any later than that. Has anyone tried the pool at 6.30 - not that I really want to get up that early but for the sake of getting my ?19s worth I might have to!
-
On an aside note, does anyone know the best time to go when it is emptiest/or full of people who are training? I stopped going as each time I went, I ended up getting stuck behind people doing leisurely breast stroke who would have gone faster if they were walking in the pool...

"We are thinking about moving to Dulwich"
bloonoo replied to mdarren7's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Echoing above with Gumtree - when we were looking to move to ED I advertised a 'wanted' for a 4 bed house - got all sorts of people mailing me about 1 bed flats etc, including one person who said she had a 4 bed flat overlooking Peckham Rye for a very cheap amount, the photos made it look like a show home and in the photo of the garden you could see a mountain in the distance.....somehow I don't think the photos belonged to her flat!!! Also avoid Tobeal Estates based in New Cross (think that's what they were called) , the guy was very aggressive and showed us round a flat that had squatters in it! -
Thanks guys, sounds like I am more of a Samui side person!!! Off to get the lonely planet guide from the library now :)

Thanks for the tips Zeban and Huguenot - didn't realise about the monsoon season. Just had a look on the net and thought about staying in Bangkok for a few days, going from Bangkok to Chiang Mai by train, staying there a few days, then heading to Krabi or Phuket (just for the beaches/beauty/relaxing etc) - with the rainy season will this still be worth it or would you recommend Samui - are the sights just as nice? I personally don't mind not diving but my boyfriend would like to. What about tourist season - will things be shut down because it isn't high season? Only ask as been to Greece and Lanzarote at the end of the tourist season before and they were literally shutting the island down in front of our eyes which wasn't that nice, nothing to do and we didn't feel that welcome lol!
