  1. Oh my dear lady, please do not take offence. I adore you. My family has a long history of inclusiveness of actresses and performers, who always made our dinner events far more enjoyable. And you are absolutely correct: when is 'new money' not 'new' anymore anyway? So when would you be available for an evening dinner event?
  2. WARNING: watching this video will take time from your life that you will never get back. But it does explain a lot. Oh my, one should not be so insensitive.
  3. She has the seal of approval from The Telegraph, no less! I must pay closer attention beyond the Business pages.
  4. How have I missed this gem? Hysterical upon reading her reply to our new, enlightened poster, I noted her link to a website full of delightful musings. Marvellous! Dear lady, I simply must have you around for dinner. My guest would be mesmerised by your anecdotes - we love nothing more than new money, as most of us have nothing left but worn pedigree to guarantee our credit. What a delightful half hour you have provided this old soul!
  5. Pro Southwark said: The website is not mine. I merely champion its cause. It has full support from the SE5 Forum and the Camberwell Blog often highlights the cause. Perhaps they are more serious minded people. Oh dear. One owes the whole of East Dulwich an apology. It seems there is a connection with my corner of hell to this group. Mr/Ms Pro, I would not wear endorsement by such websites as a badge of honour.
  6. Oh my. I am destined for a bedsit in the Aylesbury.
  7. Who is this group of enlightened people? Are they located in East Dulwich? Marvelous. You all get all the luck.
  8. I fear the barb about too many bedrooms is aimed at me. PROBiotic, are you right now parked on Camberwell Grove in a dodgy model Ford? I do have an alarm.
  9. Alan?
  10. I feel as if I should take offence but the truth is I've no idea what you are on about.
  11. Hear hear! Comparing her to Pol Pot or any other 'despot' is like calling Britain a 'police state'. Such misguided souls would struggle for words if/when it happens/happened.
  12. Let us all agree to be kind to our Alan. He's facing unemployment, crying newborns and cramped quarters. And now no Silver Buckle for the odd escape. I feel genuine compassion.
  13. At least you are taken care of Alan, so not to worry. All the best in getting back into employment. I must admit I did chuckle on seeing Rim World. I didn't want to mind, but it just happened. I avoid Walworth route at all costs.
  14. Isn't it hilarious when grown men make boyish gay jokes? How delightful to have intelligent humour. Do continue.
  15. Bob I fear you are right. And the boom boom cars to boot. My summer garden parties were once the talk of the Society calendar. The Camberwell Society that is. I cannot recall anyone not leaving, but my mind isn't what it once was, so you could be right. I just thought most of us were now house bound or dead.
  16. Alan I do worry about you dear boy. Since the housing slump, your attitude toward wealth seems to have changed drastically. Have you suffered a job loss? Is all okay over on the estate? I do worry.
  17. I'm afraid pubs are not my cup of tea, so to speak. It is difficult for me to get out at all and when I do, it is not to pubs. I can offer you an afternoon drink in the front drawing room or, given our lovely weather, the garden. It is much quieter and better quality than anything local. There is the Doves, which I've never visited but seems to get a lot of positive press. The young man behind it is constantly raising his and his pub's profile. T
  18. Well it's all very confusing, isn't it? Sign up, down, private sale, change agents, etc. I do not know the gentleman, though I did know the family who lived there for many years and sold on long ago.
  19. Agreed. My neighbour is selling. Now if one could have this in Cleaver Square, it would be heaven. Or perhaps at least Hampstead.
  20. No dear Bob. Twice the price and actually much smaller than the Grove. If I had MP expenses maybe.
  21. Dear Alan has returned. We did miss you. Our once beautiful cinemas have all dissappeared, dear boy. You are correct. Shame. However I guess at least bingo halls have kept the buildings from destruction, which gives us a chance to revive them again.
  22. Walworth?! Now I know you are winding one up. As South London goes, and we're talking urban (as opposed to our suburban enclaves), The Prince of Wales in Cleaver Square is good for a drink and boules, if desired. Otherwise, travel north or out to suburbia (Lordship Lane springs to mind).
  23. Oh I am sorry. I must follow the rules, of course. I guess my heart sinks when I see the architectural gems that are the finest in the area (they certainly beat East Dulwich) covered and coated in muck and garbage. Underneath it all is a proud past now drowned out by such horrible noise.
  24. Oh it is difficult for one to say, as I, like you, tend to migrate toward East Dulwich on those rare occassions when I am able to venture out. I do apologise for assumming you don't give custom to dear Camberwell regularly. Foolish of me. Why don't we reverse the question and give you platform for telling us all the wonderful places you frequent here? We do have a new French bistro, apparently. Quite good I'm told.
  25. Good riddance to bad rubbish. One down, too many to count still to go.
