  1. And as MrB says, not many people will admit to voting UKIP so I think they are going to do a lot better than expected.
  2. If someone is lucky enough to receive my vote, it's because I believe in them and want them to win. I wouldn't be ashamed to admit it whoever it is. I'd want everyone to know, regardless if they agree or not. We are allowed to have different opinions. So if I was voting for the p***k that's there at the moment , I would own up......but I'm not.
  3. Otta, I can't sit through a 2 hour film without getting peckish, thirsty and needing the loo! So if there are ad breaks, that's good. And DVD's or Netflix, you can simply stop them which makes the cinema so inconvenient because there isn't a pause button. And I sometimes look on here and there are times when I just have to post immediately. Urges can't wait and that's the beauty of the pause button!
  4. Come on *Bob*, surely you don't go out dressed in your pyjamas? Dressing up means changing out of your holey jeans, slobbish baggy top or dressing gown & slippers. And you even have to comb your hair! Or you can chill out indoors with Film4/Netflix.
  5. P.s. Afterwards, instead of waiting at a bus stop in the freezing cold, you can switch off TV and go to sleep. Bliss. Are they not called pictures anymore Foxy? It just shows how long it's been since I last went!
  6. Because MrB, for so many years going to the pictures was a luxury and waiting for the film to appear on TV was the normal thing to do. I remember taking the children years ago for special treats but having to sit through animated type things that didn't interest me was torture (even though I pretended they were great!) In the past 10 years, I've only been twice and never really enjoyed the experience even though the films were OK. Not only is it cheaper to watch TV, but far more comfortable. You don't have to dress up, you get advert breaks so you can make cups of tea, raid the fridge or go to the loo and you are not being disturbed by other peoples noise! I'm certainly not against new cinemas opening, just can't understand the excitement. And I will see all the films eventually. I'm very patient!
  7. It amazes me that so many people can't wait to go to the pictures.
  8. What Sue said. He was concerned enough about the cat to post on here. The majority of people would just ignore it because it's none of their business. But he cared enough to try and do something about it.
  9. I doubt that Charlie is a Shikoku (rare breed here), so more likely a Shih Tzu if black and white.
  10. Have you had a good day then? If so, you'll be overtaking me because mine's been rubbish. I did predict a Spurs draw though so I'm glad they didn't win :)
  11. It's good to know Quids that Millwall on the brink of relegation has had such an impact on you that you felt the need to come back here and tell the world. ;-)
  12. MrBen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I for one don't mind having you around Louisa - > even if those old topics you refer to were getting > done to death by you and boring many. But if > you're going to flounce then for god's sake do it > properly.... > > Coming back after just 2 days doesn't really > count! So what would've been better? If she'd done a proper 'flounce' and not returned at all? You say you don't mind having her around so why question a change of decision? You should be celebrating instead. One less missing person.
  13. I just think ANY decent pub where you can get a nice meal will be a good addition to the area.
  14. I'm glad she's staying in The Lounge. We appreciate her here :)
  15. It's good that it's not the Bellenden area (again). The Nigel Rd end of Peckham has recently had a makeover with two new cafes, a bar/restaurant, an organic shop etc. Now it's the turn of Queens Rd. Up by the station there are also new shops including a Blackbird bakery & South American restaurant/takeaway. It has smartened up the area and a really nice pub will make such a difference. It's just what that part of Peckham needs.
  16. Living within a short walking distance of a Tesco or Sainsbury's superstore +99%
  17. It doesn't matter where it is as long as there are toilets. A sunny afternoon in the park needs a picnic. A picnic needs wine and you need the loo!
  18. Banished. Thurs nights final episode. I won't say what happened as it's a bit soon for spoilers. Wow. So moving and so emotional. The best drama I've seen in ages.
  19. ED Picturehouse - Two Door Cinema Club Pesticide Spraying - The Killers Cheltenham - Nickelback
  20. I stopped watching all the soaps years ago. I've no idea how many gay stories there are but most of the storylines are ridiculous so it makes no difference. Look at the amount of deaths that feature in soaps. It's hardly 'real life', just done to draw the viewers in. And a murder every few weeks, shown before the watershed. I think it's a bit silly complaining about something as silly as soaps when nonsense is to be expected. Just watch something else instead.
  21. The Budget - Hurts Missing - The Wanted
  22. General Election 2015 - Simple Minds
  23. I used to live in a top floor Southwark council flat and they told me when I moved in (over 10 years ago) that we weren't allowed wooden floors and HAD to have carpets. I would've thought they'd be stricter now. And as LadyD says, you are normally allowed to rent out a room in council property, but you can't sublet and live somewhere else.
  24. Yes Loz. I still look at it from time to time. I wouldn't know how to work it otherwise. ETA I wouldn't know how to work anything without reading the instructions!
