It does neither parties any favours - peds hate cyclist/cyclists hate peds... And i am insulted by the 'privelege' quote considering how little thought appears to have been given to this matter. I know it's an absurd analogy but what if the thinking was applied to a ped v car situation?? What an utter waste of money, they have simply created a category 1 hazzard well done chaps

  4. Sharp intake of breath :) But yes! you are so right..
  5. Interesting. You do have a point. OK, I need to do some work now.... flouncing
  6. Sean - Ok, but ultimately i think things have changed. Just an observation, but interestingly I would guess broadcasting was fairly PC in the early days (50s) Then in my view became fairly liberal (non pc) during the 70s/early80s But I think this decade is seeing an albeit slight return to more sensorship /PCness for more contemporary reasons of course. I have no hard facts to back this up of course :)

At least if you mean because of PCness ------------------------------------------------------ I mean that because of PCness, Monty Python just wouldn't be allowed to be aired. In fact i recall that in Ireland it wasn't allowed first time round? (life of Brian)
  9. PC brigade? If it made you chortle then what's wrong with it. Surely we can all determine the difference between offensiveness & humor. It's also on TV, so if it does offend then change channel. Simples. Monty Python wouldn't stand a chance these days.... which is a gross shame. In fact its wrong IMO

  11. And just as another pointer Uzzy. There has already been a thread about this very subject on this very forum: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,507583,page=1
  12. Fu*ck me... I thought we had freedom of speech or something like that? I can't stand all this repping and censorship. Some folk need to 'man-up'
  13. Go on son, you tell her...
  14. 'business luncheon' ^that made me laugh....old school lunch for the win
  15. ^ Please don't tell me that comment's from experience
  16. ^ I don't buy into the post either. But hardly a friendly or warranted reply from an 'old-time' poster.
  17. A self invented award?? hehehe
  18. "He explained that the lane is designed to be a 'privilege' for cyclists rather than a right of way" Hence the confusion form both side of the fence! Quite frankly i avoid Rye Lane completely as it's just too dangerous. Traffic/Pedestrians and road surface. I usually reach ED via Bellenden Rd or round the one way system/back lanes up to the Rye.
  19. '& I've not been glassed yet ' Just as well ;) http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3494/3998222310_6da0957e03_o.jpg

  21. Your wee one will love it! I've gone 3yrs in a row now. Bizarre thing is, the kids love the crappy insignificant bits and the candyfloss. Ask them about some death defying acrobatics and you get silence?! Ha, well.... Yes i have seen that before. Hilarious!!
  22. .(repeat post fail)
  23. ^ I did!!! Cost me ?37 frigging quid for one adult and two kids... Not counting candy floss/ glow stick etc etc Kids loved it though :)

  25. Uzzy, I think i've made more than enough points on this thread already for you to understand my thoughts on the matter. Good luck with your project.
