  1. Narnia, i would guess the 'owner' is probably busy doing more fulfilling things. A bit unfair to bash them - 'can't be bothered/ poor reflection' As regards you other point re the relevance of the thread. I guess we just have to agree to disagree.
  2. ^ I'm with you Aila & Atticus. Loads of separate threads on break-ins/ theft/ dogs/ parks/ same pubs.... didn't see any harm in your thread at all. Meddling Admin! Could have lead to a whole discussion of TV's in pubs etc.
  3. If it a profession competition, what about the military/army? the RLNI (as already mentioned)? They literally risk they're lives everyday, with shit conditions & equipment. I don't see them whinging about sleep & shift patterns. And lets not forget that any new buildings fire detection systems are a far cry from those available 10/20 years ago. Automated sprinkler systems, early warning detection systems etc etc... Building are way more protected than they were 10/20 years ago. Sorry if i missed something
  4. You're right, they have nothing to offer. Try ANY place other than those two, you should be ok.
  5. "I have a huge respect for Firefighters in London and around the country, and any profession where they put their lives on the line every time they go to work" Good point and I also share that respect. But to add some perspective to this, the RNLI are an entirely charitable emergency service. They are also on call 24/7. They don't get paid at all and share the risks on their lives every day. Just saying...
  6. ^ no magnets, but does the same job ;-)
  7. I think the answer you're look for is a 'push-release catch'? http://www.selbyhardware.com/images/m1img4.gif

And yes for sure it's a long day (not sure how it's 'unsafe') and again we all rarely see our families. This is a ridiculous excuse. Move out of London if you don't like it! For for an awful lot us this is the norm already...
  9. Haha, the worst culprits are the staff! pisses me right off when they block the isle stocking up. And by far the worst store for this is Sainsbury by the Plough. Flipping Sunday mornings everyone stocking up racks out up on ladders and not one person on the tills. Grrrrrr
  10. DJKQ - Yes, tube drivers earn ridiculous amount of money relative to a lot of professions IMO and that before the pensions/ job security etc that goes with the job! Pisses me right off when these unions get going and start complaining about x/y&z irrelevant issues...
  11. Moflo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > NONE of us want to strike, // we have been bullied and harassed into this by our boss...... So anyone out there who are saying we're 'selfish', 'sack them all', their being unprofessional' etc etc. . Do you want the fire brigade to protect you and your families and for us to be there when you really need us, or cross your fingers and hope that the station that has had one fire engine taken away, isnt on another shout and you need to wait for the closest station to get to you. . hmmmm, 3 mins of smoke inhalation and the brain is dead. . think about it. What do you want from a service that YOU pay for???? XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Not sure i like the tone of your last paragraph either. Comes across as bullying/ scare tactics to gain my vote?
  12. I'm sorry, the use of Scab labour will not be putting us at risk as you say. It is the Firefighters who will be putting us at risk. The Scabs will simply be doing there best to cover whilst you carry on this action. In simple terms i like many others in this country don't have the luxury of being able to strike in my place of work. If i don't like cuts to my salary etc i have the choice to quit or be grateful that i at least have a job... These are difficult time for everyone and yes i and many other have had to take quite a large salary cuts over recent years. Nor do i get the luxury of overtime, yet often work through the night to meet deadlines. I could go on of course... suffice to say i disagree with this action and you will not be receiving my support. It really wasn't that long ago that you took similar action? Please don't miss-understand me by thinking i dislike firefighters. I have huge respect for the work they do. I simply have no respect for the sort of action they are proposing.
  13. Ann, I'm not being funny but i often see people take their tops to use the exercise machines. You sure he wasn't simply 'adjusting' himself as men sometimes feel the need to do?
  14. Sorry, you've lost me again. (i am generally being slow tonight, nothing personal) What works well with children?
  15. Nothing really... If i want something i get it, no messing! And you??

I mean if it were like 8 or 9 people there is no way I'd do myself in for that!! Anything over ten is cool though. ;-)
  17. ^Sorry dude, i'm lost. what's going on here... I though this was about Christmas?

  25. Sorry to pull you up on this Ratty, but your 'cuss' makes no sense at all.. 'ratty - acting like a @#$%& since 1970' I've already picked admin on this earlier, but we all know there are only four characters in any decent cuss.
