  1. not a member of facebook unfortunately. however re what the administrator said - its a wider community issue that future parents will be interested in (i.e. people who aren't already parents and therefore probably don't come into the family room to read about baby baths and night feeds!) think it was a bit harsh to move your thread.
  2. Thanks for all the replies. Do the moulded ones fit into the smaller baby baths? I have a back injury so will need to use a baby bath on top of a table/stand to avoid pressure on my back. Many thanks once again x
  3. Hi there I have got a plastic baby bath which I intend to use on top of a table. Could anyone recommend please what type of baby support I could use in it so that I can have both hands free to bathe baby? Is one of those fabric chairs best? There's so many things out there and its a bit confusing to know what to get! Any advice much appreciated. Many thanks in advance x
  4. thanks for the tip x
  5. i wonder if its a funding issue? so many delays often indicate that the council is stalling spending the money??
  6. it can't be easy when he's so young but i have heard that the allergy unit at kings is good. someone else has posted about a nut allergy in the last couple of days and that had quite a few helpful replies. xxx
  7. thanks - i thought it might be that but wasn't sure!
  8. poor you and poor baby. how horrible to have to go to casualty. it must have been scary for you - big hugs xxx i was also allergic to cows milk as baby and grew out of it. drank goats milk instead. as a child at nursery i had to miss out on the breaktime bottle of milk and have a glass of water instead! have they told you if baby might begin to tolerate these things at a later age? the one consolation you may have is that nurseries and schools are more clued up on allergies these days i think as allergies seem more common. let us know how it goes xxx
  9. ncx rd one is nhs and was easy when i registered last year. i was with another ED dentist previously and again nhs registration was fine. i see mr daly now on ncx rd and he's lovely - puts you at ease and doesn't rush - prefers to do a thorough job.
  10. thanks fuschia - that's really clear and helpful! in my day we just pitched up to whatever was the nearest nursery and school and got on with it... the kids in playgroup went up to nursery with me and then we all started primary together. i remember the biggest effort my mum made was to get in the car and drive to the 2 nearest 2ndary schools to see which was nearest to us!!
  11. thanks smiler. it does seem good for nipping around the shops. i would hate to get a pram and then end up not going out much because it placed too much strain on my back. i wear a back support and have physio every week but i still have to be very careful not to overdo it - very frustrating!
  12. i've read the info i can find on this and various threads on here, but still don't understand it! started to think about it because a parent told me to put down our names for private schools as soon as poss - although i was hoping for a free local nursery!! i'm thinking about preschool at the age of 3-4 (rather than daycare/creche). when i was young, we used to go to morning playgroup at about 3 and morning nursery at about 3/4-ish. both were with kids of a similar age. could anyone who understands this please tell me: are daycare nurseries (with kids of all ages, including babies) different to the 3+ nurseries i am thinking of? and do all parents get a free local nursery place at the age of 3 - or is that wishful thinking? do you end up having to pay and have to have your name on a waiting list? any advice would be very much appreciated. xxx
  13. yes darrell road has east dulwich community centre which has reasonable rates. google them for website. 2 halls so can have one for kids (lots of room to run around) and other smaller hall for adults. also has small kitchen. playground out back if weather is okay. on another recent thread someone talks about there also being a scout hut nearby for hire.
  14. thanks clare. do you mean sleeping in it when you are out and about? thanks again
  15. hi there following another thread on prams, i have narrowed down my choice to the Bee or M&P Pilko or Switch. I just wanted to see what Bee owners think of it? its such a big and expensive decision, although i may end up buying one 2nd hand. i need something light due to a back injury and the Bee is small, light and very easy to fold, so it appeals. my main concern - have you found it big enough for baby? does baby grow out of it quickly? it is rather small! any feedback would be much appreciated many thanks xxx

  18. yes i loved anne of green gables too and read all the book in the series. i watched the adpation of the first book on tv, available on dvd : https://www.lovefilm.com/search/results.html?search_keywords=anne+of+green+gables then i got the book out and ended up reading the whole series.
  19. oh yes judy blume! also paula danziger ('can you sue your parents for malpractice?' plus lots of other popular books by her). not really that literary necessarily, but how about books that tie in with tv series she likes or books films are based on. bookpeople has some ideas too... http://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogSearchResultView?storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=100&pageSize=10&beginIndex=0&searchScope=SimpleSearch&resultType=2&resultCatEntryType=1&catgrpSchemaType=2&vipStatus=&fromPage=basicSearch&layout=oneColumn&pageNumber=&pageSizeOption=10&format=&sortOption=DEFAULT&ageRange=&onlySets=&categoryName=Children%27s+Fiction&categoryPath=%2F48107%2F59615&categoryId=48107&luceneSearchType=CATEGORY&searchTerm=

  21. hi there i'd be interested in replies to this too, although i am looking at formulas from new born (looks like i won't be able to breastfeed because of medication i need to be on!) any advice would be welcome. x
  22. that's a really scary question!!
  23. Happyman - do you have the same chef??? The Coriander did the best curry on Lordship Lane, so hopefully that won't change. We were regulars. Sunday buffet was nice and hot (some other Lordship Lane curry houses have only *lukewarm* buffets because they insist to having it next to the front door so it goes cold quickly). Sunday buffet also had fab starters, prepared fresh - yum. Service was a bit slow sometimes even when Coriander wasn't busy, so hopefully the new place will be better. Look forward to trying it out.
  24. well done to you both! what lovely news! :)):)):))
  25. i once went to eurodisney with a 5 year old and she loved it. it was many years ago now and we also took her older siblings and they all had a great time. she didn't seem to get too tired, but then she wanted to keep up with the older siblings. easy to get the train from central paris i seem to recall. lots of shows put on as well as the usual rides. also was the nightime parade whihc we waited to see before we headed back to our hotel in central paris.
