  1. Thanks Moos - that's a great link showing all the activities at Christ Church - lots for mums and babies!
  2. This article made me giggle... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/5877792/Precious-First-Born-Mothers-admit-they-really-do-favour-first-child.html
  3. i'm not entirely sure but i think i've heard mentioned that there is a breastfeeding group at the Bread of Life cafe at Christ Church, Barry Rd (opposite Dulwich Library). i'm sure someone else on here will know for sure.
  4. Can anyone recommend a good hypnotherapy cd please? xx
  5. Would these roadworks affect the no 12 route into town? I was hoping to get the 12 from town back to ED tomorrow afternoon. Any advice much appreciated x
  6. Hi Curly - yes I'll let you know. I know for sure that it works if you take it orally. It doesn't get rid of the eczema, but it does help control it - it makes your skin considerably less dry. The GP recommended that I take something like 6 of those big capsules a day!! Although I only ever took 2 a day.
  7. Oooh, will give that a go. I have plenty of evening prim oil capsules as used to take them everyday for my skin. A GP prescribed them to me years ago but I never really gave them a go. Then a couple of years ago a friend said I should take e.p.oil for something or other (can't remember what - good hair or something) and I suddenly noticed a big improvement in my skin. So i definitely think it does something, although like you Curly I was sceptical first. Thanks for the advice xxx
  8. Thanks for all the tips - any relief at all is worth it! I too have it around my mouth (as well as lots of other places). In the morning after waking, my mouth is so stiff and sore and if i open my mouth too wide without putting cream on, the skin all cracks and bleeds! Yucky and very painful. Oh well, at least there is the baby to look fowrad to at the end of it all!
  9. thanks very much for all the tips - its really appreciated. i went to healthmatters this morning and got some hope's relief. hanstands - thanks for the offer of trying yours first - you are a real sweetie x. i will also try to get some of the kukui oil - i much prefer the natural stuff because the creams from the gp really sting. plimsoul - good to hear what your sister's gp said - good to know if you get really desperate that there is something! ???? Mrs - i saw a couple of other creams in healthmatters so will give them a go if the hope's releif and kukua don't work. i too used to take a high dose of eveving prim oil pre-pregnancy which my skin misses!
  10. I'm just wondering if anyone who has suffered from this has any recommendations, particularly for a specialist? I suffer from eczema anyway, but the pregnancy has made it a lot worse due to not being able to use the usual steroid creams (apart from hydrocortisone sparingly when absolutely needed). However my skin is now red raw, not helped by the hot weather, cracked and bleeding and very painful. Its not been this bad in about 8 years! Just wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations before I go along to the GP. I know that any help they can give will be limited, but I am willing to try anything at this stage! Many thanks
  11. i now its not that nearby, but there's a fab vegetarian restaurant/cafe in forest hill opposite the library/swimming baths (dartmouth road i think). its called Provender (I think that's how its spelt!) admittedly i only pass through forest hill a couple times a year but its hard to resist that place. also read on this forum that there's a good veggie restaurant somewhere in crystal palace.
  12. Am a mum to be, but hopefully I can share some of my easy recipes with you which I know children usually like... Red lentils are very tasty and easy to make. Boil the lentils until cooked. Nice to leave it a little thick and not too runny. In another pan, fry some chopped onions and garlic. (Optional - add some chopped ginger and fry for another couple of minutes). Add some tinned or choppped fresh tomatoes and seasoning and cook for another 5 mins. Add to the cooked lentils. Delicious. Can also add some steamed veggies in it. Serve with pitta, rice or chunky bread. This same recipe can be used for chickpeas. Tinned chickpeas make it quicker (just add it to the cooked onion/tomato mix, and cook for a further 10 minutes). You can also boil some chopped up potatos and add these to the finished dish. By the way, if I am making a dish to be served with rice, I add veg to the rice and cook the veg that way - brocolli, peppers, cauliflower, peas, sweetcorn etc. Particularly good if you have left over veg which can be chopped and put into the freezer - then just chuck a handful into the next rice dish you make.
  13. water them once a week. new trees need lots of water until they establish themselves, so they need manual watering during the first year. i've never had a new plant 'drown', on the contrary they are always needing plenty of water at the start. but as KalKel says, a whole bucket is a bit much!
  14. Thanks Victor! Yes Landells Rd is very icy on the pavements. I was out in the snow on Monday and it was easy enough walking in a few inches of snow. Its the ice that's problematic! Thanks again :))
  15. Have the pavements on Lordhip Lane been gritted? I am thinking of venturing down to Somerfield, but won't bother if its too slippy and slidy! Many thanks.
  16. by the way, way back at the beginning of this thread i wanted to know why the sky wasn't dark last night? i still want to know! does anyone intelligent know the answer???
  17. dc - thanks for the smileys! we were by the coast at the weekend and decided to go to the beach while it was snowing. quite a few other people had the same idea. blooming cold but lots of fun! also a few kite-surfers in the sea even though it was snowing as the winds were up and there were great waves. soon after we scarpered back to london as didn't want to get snowed in!
  18. dc - how did you do that? magic!
  19. i live halfway between lordship lane and barry road, so either walk/bus to ED station or catch the no. 12 bus to Peckham Rye station. as a female, i can say that i have found both are absolutely fine, even late at night. the trains stay busy and yes most people get off at ED! only a couple of people get on/off at south bermondsey and queens rd. then quite a few also get off at p.rye. there's been a large upgrading of lighting in the ED area over the last year, making it feel much safer walking home - before the old lamps left the streets still very dark. i have no problem walking by myself or getting the no. 12 bus.
  20. :)) that made me laugh
  21. why is the sky not dark?
  22. Hi See link to council website about community council meetings. E-mail the contact stated and she will send you the agenda of each meeting in advance. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/YourCommunity/Dulwich/communitycouncil.html A number of the meetings are held at Christ Church, Barry Rd (at Lordship lane junction). Hope that helps.
  23. Someone should scoop it up and post it through his door - unwrapped of course. Maybe he will then get the message.
  24. Not heard anything, but I think I saw this weekend that there is a big extension being built out back. There is still plenty of space left after the extension and we were left wondering what they intend doing with that space. I can't really imagine the devloper putting gardens there unless they really can't get out of it - most developers try to get every inch of the land generating money. Parking would be good for the flats above the shops - but there looks to be much more space than a developer would want to devote to solely parking. If you know the address of the motor palce, ring up the council (0207 525 2000) and ask to be put through to the Planning Dept. They are always very helpful telling the public what applications have been put in.
