  1. Ahhhhhhhh - lovely news. ED Forum seems to be mad on moggies! I'm sure you will miss him but at least he will be nearby. A happy ending, which we always love!
  2. Hi Mavis. He sounds lovely. I hope you find a good home for him. Maybe a picture would help someone fall in love with him. Good luck x
  3. Great work Louisa and PP!
  4. Today I said hello to a bin man (or whatever the correct term is - refuse collector??) and he seemed to appreciate it. I also smiled at lots of people and got lots of smiles back. It is quite easy to say 'Morning' to people while walking the residential streets and people don't really take this the wrong way. Its much easier to say hello in a park so people could try that first if they are a bit hesitant about trying it out. I often stop to pat people's dogs (as I am a bit of an animal lover) and I often get chatting to people. :))
  5. I hope the greenery comes back! A few trees can't take up that much room.
  6. The poor puss. :'( I will keep my eyes peeled.
  7. Just found the card I have of this. Artist is Clare Skilbeck. No contact details, but the picture framers shoud know. She also did one of Brockwell Park. I liked the South London one she did for Living South. Let us know if you get the contact details and if there's a website.
  8. Yes I support this too.
  9. They were selling the Dulwich Village map (framed) a couple of months back at the picture framers on Northcross Rd. Is this shop still there?
  10. Or just go platform 5/6 at London Bridge and get the train to Waterloo East/Charing Cross - these trains go about every 3 minutes and take 5-10 mins.
  11. 3 looks stronger than 1 and 2
  12. Hello! Ok, this evening I said hello to a lady in her front garden as I walked by (and she said hello back) and hello to an elderly man I walked past on the street (and he also said hello). I also said hello to a pussycat I passed on the way home. The cat's neighbour was walking past at the same time and he introduced me to the cat! So I got talking to the man (who was very nice) and I introduced myself and he told me his name and we had a very pleasant chat. :))
  13. Greetings is fantastic. The couple who run it are very, very friendly.
  14. Great idea. I often smile at people. I often also talk to strangers about their nice garden or I stop to pat their dog and people are generally very friendly.
  15. Yes happy to look at them. I recall from the posts above that people wanted something easy to fold up (particularly girls wanting something they can fit in their handbag) and also something strong.
  16. The pizzas at Mon Petit Chou are fab! I picked one up on the way home the other night and it was very authentic and the service was great (but then the service is always great at MPC).

Are you maybe thinking about that guy who was being watched by the police even though he hadn't done anything wrong and he didn't have a clue about why they were spying on him? He gave us a bit of a running commentary one day which was rather funny.
  18. Mumra - poor you! I hope he hurt him/herself when he fell off your window sill. :X That does sound very scary and as if they were trying to break in.
  19. Well done Mockney Piers too! They should have put your name in the article too!
  20. I've seen the article too. Well done Dulwichmum!!:))
  21. We could have a magic roundabout with various local characters, eg Enid etc! This is a fun thread! :)) It could be nice to have something representing the fact that geese used to be kept there, maybe the woman looking after her geese (I read that this is why its called Goose Green - is this true?) If a sculpture goes up there, it would be good to have something representing the local area rather than just a random piece of art.
  22. AnotherPaul - that is funny!
  23. I like the idea of some sort of statue or art on the roundabout. Should have a local connection - eg Enid Blyton or William Blake with angels. I also like the Bellenden bollards - nice to have something different.
  24. At the Goose Green Fair, I spoke to a man from Dulwich Park Friends and I said I would post something about them on the forum. A particular point of interest is that they hold volunteer days once a month for people interested in helping out (I recall that there was a bluebell planting day in the spring). The website is www.dulwichparkfriends.org.uk and this is what they say about themselves on their introductory page: "Dulwich Park Friends is a registered charity which was set up eight years ago. We currently have 300 family memberships. Our role is to liase with the council and to encourage them to look after the park in the interests of the visitors to the park. If you think the park is being well managed, and you don't want this to decline, you should join the friends to give us more authority with the council. If you think the park could be better managed, and you want to take an active part in promoting it, you should join the friends and work with us to improve it. The committee meets once a month and has meetings with the council officers regularly to discuss a whole range of topics. Our core duty is to agree improvements with the council and then fundraise in support of them. The more members we have, the more our voice is heard." If you would like more information , please visit the website. :)
  25. I talked to the Friends of Dulwich Park and they said that the college gate is opened early by contractors arriving (usually 7/7.30am). That is the gate that is most likely to be open early. They have plans to try and get the Court Lane gate opened earlier by a couple of the residents living next to the park, but they are still working on this.
