  1. Also, I've noticed for a while that there's graffiti on the lovely mural by the playground - does anyone know how long its been like that and if the council are going to repair it? If no one knows, I'll ask one of the local councillors.
  2. Thanks Monica - I've sent you an email too. Wow, everything is moving so fast!
  3. Hi there I've spoken to 2 other primary schools who were very enthusiatic and who definitely wanted to be involved (I am waiting to hear back from one other school). Bellenden Belle and myself are contacting 3 primary schools each and I know that one of her schools has also said yes. B Belle and myself looked at the list of primaries and as there are six schools we thought this would be a manageable number to be involved if we coordinated it properly. Whilst my initial thoughts were that having just a couple of schools involved would be better in practical terms, having spoken to the schools they all sound very enthusiastic about the idea and what a good opportunity it is for the children to gain more environmental awareness - so I think it would be a shame not to involve all six primaries in ED because it would be a lost learning opportunity for those children. :) What do others think?

  5. B Belle has PM'ed me and we are going to contact the primaries between us. I have put together a basic Word document with the proposal and about the Cleaner Greener Scheme in case the schools want something in writing. Can I just say how lovely it is to read a thread like this and to see how community-spirited people can be. Well done everyone and thanks to the EDForum for bringing everyone together! :))
  6. Great idea! I would be happy to ring around some local primary schools and see if they would be interested in participating in a competition. Its the sort of thing schools should love as it raises environmental issues for the children in a fun way. Is it something that it would be easier to restrict to one school (for practicality) - if so, Clare can put it to her school before I ask any others. What do you think? Happy to go with the general consensus.
  7. Yes he does look like an absolute darling. And he obviously loves posing for pictures! :))
  8. Like the idea of a toy shop. Remmeber a great one I used to go to when I was little - it was so amazing to go in and be surrounded by so many toys and they used to run great competitions and the like.
  9. Agreed. There's no point money being spent on these things by TfL and then being put to use!
  10. It was nice to finally meet some EDFers! Thanks Mark for organising. Also thanks for letting the WI hijack your marquee to sell cakes. I mentioned to quite a few cake buyers how the WI idea started on the forum and they said they would take a look at this website. The cake stall was lots of fun - I felt like the Clingfilm Queen after wrapping up so many cakes to protect them from the rain! Great to get to know some of the WI girls better and we had a good laugh. It was a good day all round.

Hi there. At the moment, we are saying first Wednesday of the month, upstairs at the Magdala. So after 6th June, next meeting should be 4th July. Keep an eye for updates on http://groups.google.co.uk/group/edwi. Hope to see you at one of the meetings. :)
  12. Congratulations to both of you!!!! :)):)):))
  13. Hi. Just got home to find Cath's cupcakes which look scrumptious! Mr Ko wanted to nick one to sample it, but I told him he would have to buy one tomorrow. I will bring the cupcakes and my 2 cakes to the fair before 11 tomorrow.
  14. Hey there. I am going down to the coast tomorrow, leaving 7am ( !) If you can get to mine by then, that's great - I'll send you a private message with my address. If you can't make that, and if no one else sees your message and suggests an alternative, you could just leave them in in my front garden (in a tub and a carrier bag as it is supposed to rain tomorrow!) Have fun in Somerset!!
  15. Light hearted banter? Not me! Goodness, this is serious stuff. If anyone refuses to buy one of our cakes, I'll have my handbag ready to clobber them with... ;-) Now which handbag shall I take with me...
  16. Hi Cupcake - that's great! Yes, bring them along before the 11am start on Sunday. Thanks x Cupcake Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hello - I am up for making a couple of lemon > drizzle cakes - I assume I just drop them at the > stall on the day?
  17. Hi All, sorry but I won't be able to make this. :( Hopefully see some of you at the fair at the weekend. Happy drinking!
  18. I heard from a local councillor that...(now this is what I think the councillor said so don't shoot me if I get a couple of details wrong!!!...) A local resident applied for the money to do something about the roundabout and lamppost (spelling?). The resident applied under the council's Cleaner/Greener/Safer bids. I think the money was awarded for a new lamppost, but then the person thought that maybe a tree would be better. Some think that the money should be used for the purpose it was awarded (lamppost), rather than the resident deciding to change it to a tree. Not sure what has happened since. Not sure if all the ?8000 is for the lamppost (how much do they cost??) or also for other things. Apologies to that resident if I have got any details wrong. I think its great that someone has taken the initiative on this.
  19. Bawdy-Nan - well done you for getting involved in the nursery fundraiser. (tu) I may even drop by and buy a yummy cake! I understand that there has been a number of conversations with the people higher up in the WI about setting up and the cake bake has been discussed with them. We only met for the first time last week and there is a lot to do re admin, so the cake bake will just be a small affair which we first thought about last week. Having met the absolutely lovely 'Annt', I am 100% sure that the quip about 'giving them a run for their money' was just light-hearted banter following on from previous threads on the WI!! :)) No one should desire to compete with a charity or something that is being done for the good of a community. I hope we all manage to sell our cakes and if any are left unsold, I am sure we can find a good cause to donate them to (old people's home etc who would appreciate the thought). By the way Scruffy Mummy - thanks for the tips. :)

    The Plough Pub

It gets so many people passing by at the weekend - lots of families out walking to Dulwich Park and the library. It would be great to see the place tidied up and serving good food.
  21. Good work Elizabeth! Yes I can make Wednesdays too - great that the day has changed so that Snowboarder can now make it too :)
  22. Tillie - I'm like you - I keep switching on the TV hoping that there will be some good news. Its so terrible.
  23. Oh dear. :'( Poor Bellenden Belle and poor Green & Blue. Bellenden Belle offered an olive branch and said that she didn't mean for anyone to shun the place, she likes the place, she enjoyed her food and drink, it was reasonably priced and the service was 'splendid'. Bellenden Belle - you certainly haven't deserved some of the comments you have received. Please come back! Green & Blue - poor you. A thread was started and whatever were the rights or wrongs of that thread (I'm not going to offer my opinion because that's not going to help anyone at this stage), I think many will agree that the G&B gang have done a fantastic job with the shop/bar and that you have become a real part of the ED community. (tu):))
