Does anyone else suffer from insane, irrational jealousy?
PeckhamRose replied to ChavWivaLawDegree's topic in The Lounge
I suffered from jealousy in my teens and 20s because I was so insecure about my looks, and never understood why someone would want to go out with me, so when they did and then they started talking to more beautiful people I would get jealous thinking that why would they do that if they want to spend time with me. Of course what that behaviour did was push them into the direction of other people, and then when they left me I had proven myself right, ie. set myself up to be failed. All heavy stuff. But somehow I realised my problems without therapy or CBT or anything, I just realised it was stupid. Now I have someone who I am so secure about because HE is so secure, that when I got back from a long trip abroad which I was doing alone, he and my best friend went on holiday together with my blessing because I knew he loved me and that she was my best friend and they are mates. And all was fine. No, seriously. Sort of anti-jealous! CWALD (btw that is my fave nickname on this site) wrote: "If I didn't really give a sh!t about someone, I wouldn't waste my energy snooping cos I wouldn't care what they were up to." I write a diary every day, and my man and I feel the opposite. If you absolutely do love someone, you don't need to read the diary, because you know them and love them for what they are. Altogether now ..... -
So, mightyroar, in the topic entitled something like "What did you achieve today" you would just say, went shopping got kid from school went out to dinner hehheh Today typically was out on the motorcycle and I share many problems of road useage with most car drivers. Not a dispatch rider but had a lot of errands to do around town so did them all today. On the drive went around to Russell Square, then down to London Bridge, then back home via Tescos Old Kent Road. Avoided killing about fifteen stupid people who just wondered in the road in front of me usually texting, listening on iPods, or generally not paying attention. Avoided killing about seven stupid cyclists who undertook large vehicles at speed when I was turning right in front of them. Despite the apparent existence of (are you kidding?) an ECOLOGY officer in Southwark Council, wasted about 1 gallon of petrol because of the unnecessary one way systems and the inability to do something simple like turning right at the lights because oncoming traffic keeps coming over its own red light when you make the attempt (see other topics for examples of this at Peckham Rye (SE15 and SE22) junctions with East Dulwich Road). Had to deliver something to the Copleston Road area and then wasted another godknowshowmuch petrol by completely being unable to work out how the hell to get out of that area back to East Dulwich Road because of the one way systems and LACK OF SIGNS TELLING YOU HOW TO DO IT. Really pissed off that such areas like Copleston Road exist where you can not DRIVE OUT OF because a whole bunch of people like to make out they live in an enclosed gated type community. I PAY ROAD TAX I HAVE THE RIGHT TO RIDE AROUND ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE without having to ride miles out of my way when you lot suddenly decide it would be of so luverly if that road was ONE WAY or SHUT or CYCLISTS ONLY or whathaveyou. Despaired at the many faith schools I drove past - shared earlier poster's view who thinks the government should put money into educating our children and not indoctrinating them with unscientific umproven shite based on some drugged up whacky people including the bastard son of a woman living in the outer reaches of the Roman Empire some two thousand years ago the drunken drug fuelled ramblings of whom form the entire bases of POTUS's foreign policy. Realised the same poster thinks motorcyclists can not be moral, or something, and despaired at people who think all bikers are the same just because a few bikers are bad. In my mind then committed all and every single 4x4 driver on the planet, especially short women, to a hell I don't believe in, just for existing and being unable to reach or even find the indicator switch, or even see me in their rear view mirror even if they could reach up that far to look. Wondered why everytime I ride up to some idiot who is crossing the road just yards from traffic lights and chooses not to see me, I grin with enjoyment at the utter fear on the faces when I am so close to them and they STILL have not seen or heard me and I press the horn and they jump out their skin then SMILE AND WAVE as they run like fuck across the road. Rode in a bus lane, legally, because of being there at a particular time of day when it was ok to ride in a bus lane, then had to get out of it a bit further up the road because all of a sudden one is then not allowed to be in that bus lane at any time of day. Despaired at stupidity of it and at Ken for suppressing the evidence that showed that bikers being in bus lanes saves bikers lives but such report was suppressed because the cyclists would not like to hear it and everyone wants to please the cyclists. Nearly rode into a cyclist as I was carefully overtaking a line of traffic, when said cyclist bombed out between cars right in front of me without bothering to check that there might be vehicles or PEOPLE even in the way. Pissed off at my aim and vowed to do better next time. Got up Peckham Rye eventually but realised I was happy for having had a fun motorcycle ride through London which is just such a joy, so rode further for the hell of it wasting petrol, drove past Camberwell Cemetery or whatever that one is on Brenchley Gardens, saw someone crying outside it. Stopped the bike and talked with them about their loss. REALISED I HAVE NOTHING TO BE GRUMPY ABOUT. Came home and realised I had forgotten to get some dollars on my trip out. Went back out. Repeat above.....

Oooh mikeb, a man in the know. Where should I invest the hundred or so pounds I am gonna save by not being fleeced for buying ridiculously expensive bread (see other topic!) I am walking past Foxtons later, I shall look in and smile at the staff and get a free cuppa out of them maybe as I pretend to be interested in ?300,000 ex council flats....!

1 Absolutely 2 Absolutely 3 Safeguards mean that your friends and relatives (in my case in THAT order) would have to be the ones to help me make the decision and give the doctors the say-so to go ahead. I think we should have to put on line on a dedicated website names and addresses (not visible to everyone of course) only visible to those need to see it at the time, of our friends and relatives we want to contact should such a time occur. To be updated yearly. Then the disc with all this info on can be left in someone's car and stolen and used and blah blah Hey - I have not thought this all through because I am supposed to be working but it seems like a good idea! I worked for a funeral directors and saw relatives and friends who had had to witness unnecessarily long painful deaths of their loved ones which made everything so much more unbearable.

PeckhamRose replied to Mark's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Did you report it to the police? It may be a waste of time as far as getting them back is concerned but if everyone reported stuff the police would have more reason to say to government WE NEED MORE TIME TO DEAL WITH CRIME AND STOP PISSING ABOUT ON PAPERWORK. ;) -
Hi (moving to the area, some questions)
PeckhamRose replied to thegolden's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi and welcome to the area. I live across the park from you - yes on the SE15 side of the park. The CLockHouse is my local and it's lovely inside AND out. Your nearest supermarkerts are: Co-op up Peckham Rye SE22 side as it becomes Forest Hill Road, little Tescos down the Peckham Rye SE22 side turn left at the lights, big Sainsburys in East Dulwich. Lots of little food shops of course round East Dulwich, Nunhead, and even Rye Lane. No, seriously. Meanwhile, I refer to the reply I gave several weeks ago to another newcomer, who talked about safety. I have edited it to suit... but I am not aware of your gender but shouldn't matter anyway... Welcome to the area. The perception of danger, and the fear of getting attacked and so on has little if anything to do with the realistic chance that you may be. Basically, if you look like a victim.... When walking always look like you know where you are going, do not talk on your mobile, and have your keys to hand, so that SHOULD you think someone is following you you may look like you're coming home soon, sort of thing. Be aware of who is around you. Think proactively. Many people including me use iPods but I am still aware of who is around me without being paranoid...! Make friends with your neighbours and offer them your mobile number so they may offer you yours in case of emergency. Be proactive. The area is lovely. And definitely enjoy the park. On a thread on this part of the forum I started a section about the Southwark Council safer neighbourhood teams and the phone numbers for them which include contacts with PCSOs, Community Wardens and the actual police themselves. Find it, and put those numbers on your mobile. Get to know your safer neighbourhood teams. Volunteer to be a streetleader (go on the Southwark Council Website and find the link, or email [email protected] to ask him about it. Streetleaders basically offer to look after the area they live in and report things that need fixing, whether it be graffiti, broken fences, dumped stuff, abandoned cars, etc etc. We have meetings to discuss stuff and also get to go on Ward Panel meetings with the police. it's about making the effort and by posting on here you have begun! Having said the above, welcome again, take part on here and in the real community. The next Ward Panel meeting of the police is at Harris Sports Academy or whatever that school is called at the South East corner of Peckham Rye SE15, on Thursday 13th March at 7.00pm. PeckhamRose -
Absolutely barking. As Harry Enfield said in that sketch he wrote, "I saw you coming". Ayres in Nunhead is now about ?1.54 for a lovely big loaf though it's not organic.

You mean you hope "they" toenail the bastards? Talking of "them", has anyone reported it to the Safer Neighbourhood team for your area?

Fined ?75 for dropping a cigar butt - fair?
PeckhamRose replied to seanmlow's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Whaddya mean you want signs and prior warning? Yeah the world has gone crazy - WE NEED MORE SIGNS telling us what we morally know to be true anyway. Since when do we need warning and signs that it is WRONG to drop litter, cross a red light, drive badly, text when crossing the road and not looking, etc etc? When did you stop using common sense and start needing law makers to TELL you something is wrong and to tell you that you would be fined? What saddens me is that people claim they did not know they could be fined, because that's like saying "I knew it was wrong, but I did not know there was a law because there were no signs and prior warnings everywhere and if I did know I did not think I would get caught so assumed I could get away with it." And YES, what makes you think that people throwing mattresses out and dropping MCDonald's litter are not being fined? Do you follow the Community Wardens around all day every day on their shifts? I tell you what, go talk to them, and/or go to your local Police Ward Panel meeting and meet them and the Safer Neighbourhood Team meeting folk police and ask them what they do. I dare you. Find out. Stop whinging on here. Take responsibility. Grrrrrrr! christian952 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Some people may be responding to this post saying > that these cig buts are litter...however, with any > change in legislation, it is no good just fining > people without any prior warning, this needs to be > publicised first with signs and a public > information campaign. Fined ?75 for dropping a cigar butt - fair?
PeckhamRose replied to seanmlow's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thank you. I don't do it every time I see it happening! But when I see someone and I am on the bike and am confident of my "out", I do it. and writing the words here can't do justice to the very very nice unthreatening positively delightful way I choose to approach the littering scum on the street, always within hearing distance of possible witnesses! -
Shopping list. To Do list. Birthday card list.

This, and all the other reports and topics regarding being hassled / bullied / mugged and/or worse on this forum should also be sent to the Safer Neighbourhood Team. Can we have their details at the stickied top of each forum page please Administrator? For now, go into the Southwark Council website and follow the links. Elsewhere on this site some folk have posted the phone numbers. (Sorry, working, not time to search for it now myself.) I go to the Nunhead and peckham Rye Ward Panel meetings and there's one in a week or two, but do go to the Dulwich one mentioned above. It's a great resource and you can look at the Community Wardens some of you despise so much in the eye and hear them talk about what they do, too! scotslass Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Don't know what SNT is? Ooooh I got 122 for USA, and very low score for Europe... Hmm Well as I am just going to tour round USA at least I know I won't get lost. It's the new European countries that got me a low score in the Europe one. That is a dangerous website, I could stop doing lots of work for this! Now for the UK one.

Look around the forum for such other topics and discussions. There are quite a few. I am sorry if this has happened to you / your kids. (Edited for spelling...)

I only got 27 but at least I can spell "appear". Is there one for the US states? I'm better on US states, me.

Youth Offenders move in by Goose Green Park!
PeckhamRose replied to Alicia's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Michael Palaeologus Wrote: "I think I might start up a knife sharpening business on the Green. Should do well." You'll never match with a knife, the sharpness of your wit. Personally, I don't mind if the story is true. At least we have a focus when it all goes wrong. Hope your life in the "country" (where IS that, exactly?) is fabulous, Alicia. But when you find you have neighbours that don't pass your stringent tests, guess what, you're stuck with them. In London and other bigs towns we can concentrate on getting on with all the other neighbours! -
Yup, what lozzyloz says. Tho I do see quite a few landlords with nice expensive cars in their driveways these days. But for the most part in quite a lot of the pubs I see, they're struggling, and like most other businesses and services, the chains are winning.

Fined ?75 for dropping a cigar butt - fair?
PeckhamRose replied to seanmlow's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well I also pick up the litter which is specially smug-making when I say to people who may be near me, " Would anyone like to help me pick up this litter?" and sometimes some do and sometimes some don't, but either way I pick it up. Halo drops when I also add I am a motorcyclist. I mean, blinder999 wrote about me on the roadbumps thread "And bikers on the moral highground wtf???" so I must be bad bad bad bad. It's frightening isn't it: bikers doing good things. I know a couple who are even blood donors. Some are advanced motorists and none of them throw litter out their car windows because they don't have any! But to be a litterbug is even worse than being a motorcyclist, in my opinion. Southwark Council reckon if you see someone driving their car and you get a good description of them and their car and the registration number, that if you see them throwing litter out of their car when on Southwark roads you can report them and they WILL write to the owners (who have probably just reported the car as stolen, of course!) and fine them. Me, I can't be arsed. I just follow them and throw the litter back in their open windows. Much more fun. Specially if the cigar(ette) still has a lit end. -
