  1. My DAB has not picked it up despite the rescan. Hmm. Mind you, it was a cheap DAB radio from Asda and refused to allow me Radio 4 for the first month. Oh well, will try again later. Planet Rock does it for me till then.
  2. Saw ` them all from Dawson Heights. Fabulous. Great atmosphere too.
  3. Why can't a woman think more like a man?
  4. Listen, I have seen parking attendant scum more than once put tickets on limousines waiting outside a funeral directors while people are getting in (too upset to be hurried), on their way to a funeral. I have seen a woman with her clearly disabled child who was having a fit, trying to rush to her car in view of the parking attendant, but having to calm down and wait with her sick child, while the scum put a ticket on her car which had a time limit on it but she had a disabled kid and they don't do timetables. I have witnessed seeing a woman taking her very elderly mother back to the car only to see the car being towed away (even with a disabled badge in its window) because the car was in the bay for a minute over the three hours or however long they are given, and the woman said her mother had had a bad turn in the store so had been looked after by staff till she was well again to leave the store. As long as money is involved and you are fining not educating or advising, they are scum. Meanwhile, the fact that along a red route or bus route which is supposed to be free of traffic you get little parking bays jutting out (the one outside Greyhound pub comes to mind, as well as the ones on the east bound bit at Vauxhall by the Oval) which are very much in the way, and there to make money, it is clear where the priorities are. Apart from this I have no opinions on the matter. ;)
  5. It will be busy tonight. Lots of people congregate to see the views and fireworks across London. As long as you have a car/motorcycle and / or a good set of lungs to climb up and down the hill, you are going to have a great time. The views are so wonderful. Having said that maybe your own flat does not have a view! The north facing 'garden' does, though! And of course then you have Horniman Gardens also. A great place to live I would have thought. Just buy a BIG freezer to stock up on stuff when you are snowed in and can't walk or drive up and down the hills! Welcome to the area.
  6. I have said it before and I shall say it again; parking attendants are the scum of the earth.

    Q antiques

Well it made me laugh. Depends what 'it' is, of course.

Best wishes to you, but do write to the Primary Care Trust with a complaint and also to the Practice Secretary and then do a quick search on here to see just how many people have been complaining about that surgery. Then, if you are in the catchment, come over to Nunhead Surgery on Nunhead Grove.
  9. Not my original idea but someone on an invention show on telly said this; that every chinese takeaway throughout the land used the same numbers in their menus for the same dish so a number 44 in East Dulwich would be the same meal if you ordered a number 44 in Hull, Cornwall, Ramsgate or Rhayader.
  10. I got a really good one from a certain supermarket on Dog Kennel Hill. (wellllll they don't pay me to advertise them!)
  11. I didn't get any presents though.
  12. What website is that for cheap petrol in your area? Otherwise I shall check on here. I heard on Radio 4 a prog about whiskey that it costs about 40p to put the whiskey in the bottle, the rest is tax and reasonable profits for the company. The government taxes about 80% (I think?) for the petrol? Thanks for posting the cheaper places - don't forget that driving the extra miles to the cheaper petrol may not make economical sense!
  13. It is an interesting skill to describe buildings, people, directions and so on. As someone who travels all across all of London, and does not use satnav, I find it incredibly frustrating that many businesses and fascias do not have the number of the street on them. Sometimes entire streets of businesses do not have the numbers on theie fascias or doors! But that's off topic. Being a motorcyclist, when stopped I often find I am asked directions; many people thinks all bikers are couriers. I am not a courier but I do my best when describing how to get somewhere to someone. Remembering pubs on corners is one way of course (and delightfully mentioned as such in Bill Bryson's Notes On A Small Island), but also shops and lamp-posts and bus stops and trees and so on are a good way to try and get someone on their way. Where I live I have come across people on about four occasions in their cars, stuck in a cul de sac where there's nothing but our garages, having been told by their sat navs that they are in the middle of the park. And they didn't have the commong sense to see that they were driving in the opposite direction from the park!
  14. Very good!
  15. Hugs to giggirl. I utterly agree with your postings. I have not bought any presents. Seriously. Neither am I expecting any. I buy things for people when I know they need it. Mr PR bought me a fabulous hat at the recent Ivy House craft fayre day a weekend ago. MrPR needs slippers. He ain't getting any now that's for damn sure. I never ever ever send Christmas cards either. Yet people still send them to me. Curious! I'm not grumpy, or miserable, indeed I am looking forward to doing The Meal, but as for all the stuff, not interested. Mind you, if we had kids - nahhhhh ! Midwinter Greetings everyone!
  16. The Queen will die on the opening day of the Olympics. Oh wait, that's for the year after next. This year, it will emerge Katie Middleton will be expecting twins before she is married. Chelsea Registry Office are on alert....
  17. Still the bigger bits would have shrivelled and headed south first. Just like in real life in fact.
  18. The opening post was 22 December. So what did you do yesterday in the end?!
  19. He is most definitely a Something. Thank you nunhead bodger. You star. MrPR sends best wishes too!
  20. You're having no more than six. And with your back to the balcony door. DJKillaQueen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I hate to admit it, but I do love my brussels and > could eat oodles of them.....the consequences of > which I won't discuss :))
  21. Go see a nail expert who will stick false acrylic nails on your stubs and make them look nice but natural. Then go back every two weeks to get the infills done. Then slowly the false ones get taken off and your own have grown underneath and you will be proud. Will take about 3 months. At this point they will be weak but keep going so that they can keep them strong and well manicured for you. While the false nails are on you will need some diversionary tactics - after all you have been biting your nails as a habit for years probably. Try taking up something like knitting. No, seriously. (Someone is starting a class on this site!) I know the above will be expensive, but this is exactly what I did, and apart from a few blips it worked for me beautifully. Note: not all manicure specialists (including the Beauty Place on Forest Hill Road) do false nails. Don't go somewhere cheap. It's a horrid habit and I was terribly upset to be owned by this habit for so many years. So I hope you find something to help you. I hate seeing people with bitten nails and know how important it is to break the habit.
  22. You all have a long way to go to beat Bodger's snowlady in his front garden which was posted on here last year. But I can't find the photo now! It was of a naked snowlady with a beautiful gown. Am loving looking at your photos though and agree the one with black dog is great!
  23. No info but just had to say I LOVE your nickname. Wonder if 484s are still going up there.
  24. Oh nice call WomanOfDulwich. That might have been it.
