The London Mayor's building is covered in lights and events people with people watching the event live on a big screen.

See the other thread on this that Sean diverted us to. Some info there and also the unreliable TfL website.

Good call!

Indeed my squirrel proof seed, peanut, and fat ball feeders are all being attacked by the blue tits and it is a joy to behold. They have also worked out that SpaceyCat, sitting at the window watching them, is completely harmless.

Just walked across the park and back to the dentist. Snowing strongly all across it and the lake is frozen over. What's more, I fed a dog biscuit to a beautiful King Charles Cavalier Spaniel only to see that at the other end of the lead was one of the McGann brothers. Wow. Anyway, so the park is absolutely beautiful and the ducks and geese would welcome some spare bread!

Even bernard matthews got into the swing of it and died a bit too early. Still, lots of meat there! -
When you are feeling a bit low, what does it for you?

Motorcycle ride. Seriously does it for me. -
Indeed. It is sunny today and I feel happier than when it is cloudy and grey. Measure THAT!

Police Forum tonight - if you can not make it, PM me with your name and address and I shall give them the info for you, but I am not reporting it officially - you can do that on line. -
Plan to measure happiness. Let's save them money and they can read this thread here. Me? I am worried that I am eating in to my savings just to stand still. (Both me and MrPR are suffering this) But my life is pretty uncomplicated and I take life easy, being a motorcyclist gives me a good feeling, and I am grateful for what little I have. And I try to be happy. But I worry about life in my old age. Edited to change title and add link

nice and cosy bars/pubs/cafes to go on a daytime date-anywhere in London!
PeckhamRose replied to zeban's topic in The Lounge
I used to live in a flat by Builders Arms years ago and am delighted to read from this post above that it is still there. What a nice memory. Another idea for a cosy sofa pub is upstairs at the Chandos Trafalgar Square / Charing Cross Road, and also the pub at the south end of Charlotte Street a small pub with a similar cosy upstaira area. I must admit I am reading the above with interest. A walk along the river can never be a bad idea. There are some river boat bars too by Waterloo Bridge North end, and also one on the Battersea side of the Battersea and Chelsea Bridges. May I also recommend the book 1,000 things to do in London, because it's fab. -

Try emailing [email protected] The emails are logged and they have to reply. My example above shows this.

Amazing post. I have been emailing the council about the fact that they award lots of money for cleaner greener brighter lovelier right on ecological blah blah schemes, yet they themselves use petrol drive hand held engines to blow leaves from a to be before sweeping them in to plastic bags for later collection. On my estate they clear leaves quite regularly and noisily usually from eight in the morning. The reply I got was that it saved money instead of employing More People!

I have to ride up to the M1 quite regularly and at different times of day. Here are some variations. At Marble Arch go up the A41 (ie instead of Edgeware Road go up the little bit of Oxford Street you can do before having to turn left up Grosvenor Place/Road - parallel to Baker Street), then you go past Lords and Swiss Cottage and the A41 allows you then to join M1 later. Sometimes for a little detour - at Swiss Cottage I go straight up through Hampstead (up St John's Road I think it's called?) and up and around the top bit of the Heath, then do a left up The Bishops Avenue. Just for a laugh. A Lesson in How to be afraid for your wealth! Then at the top do a left and you're on the A1 which leads to M1. Going through the City in a car would be a pain but if you have a little time and you're going outside regular day time or evening times, it's worth it just to see the new buildings (well, and old ones!). Go over London Bridge and take the 11.00 o'clock turn (as distinct from the 9.00 oclock, 1.00 o'clock and 3 oclock) through the City via Princes Street and Moorgate. Go past Finsbury Square which should be on your right. At the Old Street Roundabout go straight over and then hang a right To The North. Then keep going through up through Holloway Road (dull, but wide) and Archway and you're on the A1 leading to M1. Actually that's my least fave route!

Will he be staying in hospital? Aren't hospitals against that sort of useage? Maybe he'll be moved to a home when there's space. But maybe a kindle / nintendo with lots of books and quizzes - with magnifying facility. And get him hooked up with Southwark Circle for about ?10 a year or something and then - and this sounds a bit weird but it might be fun - he could pay to have visitors and even if he doesn't know them they want to be there and they'll find something to talk about. Just an idea. But Southwark Circle is fabulous.

Awful, absolutely awful. I have a spare Ventolin if you need it and can deliver tomorrow should you not have a spare. -
May I recommend that ALL leaseholders of Southwark no matter estate or street property please become members of your Leaseholder Organisation. It is called LEASEHOLDERS ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHWARK 2000 (LAS 2000), PO Box 23394, London, SE16 2WA. They are run by Leaseholders for Leaseholders and do a LOT of in depth work for us all. They are about ?12 a year to join but you get a lot from it. Thank you. Didn't mean to highjack the thread but it is important!

How important is physical attraction in a relationship?
PeckhamRose replied to emc's topic in The Lounge
But then I guess they'd still want to shag her.
