  1. Chick those photos are absolutely fabulous. Who do I have to buy drinks for in order to be allowed to go up to the top of the Crystal Palace Towers with you? I have my own hard hat - helmet! I LOVE heights! I see those photos were taken before the Shard made its mark, though. Absolutely lovely photos; thanks for sharing!

    Birds.

There is a pet shop in North Cross Road, and vets have some stuff too, but I tend to go to PetsRHardSmartAtHome near Wickes because often stuff just tends to be cheaper. But not always. You can not buy massive bags of peanuts in the supermarkets, and I think PetsAtHomeRus also do them loose, so you can scoop as many as you need. When ever I go through Kent I will try and go to garden centres as they often have big pet sections with such items in.
  3. Best Christmas tip ever: THE CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL TOMORROW AND THIS WEEKEND!!!!!

    Birds.

Last year I bought a tub of fifty fatballs which contains lots of seeds. Got it from PetsRSmartRUsRSomething next to Wickes in Blackheath. The blue tits are basically being kept alive with them I think! They queue up on the trees to fly over and get their breakfast every morning. A big tub worked out much cheaper and they will get through them if I have to stuff them myself. Won't put any in the turkey though.
  5. The Shard has now got lights up the sides of it looking like tall Christmas Trees. Just went past there. But I can't see them yet from 'our' side. Maybe they will put some up for our side tomorrow. I remember when the gherkin was going up, the whole thing was given green and yellow lights so it looked like a christmas tree that year. Meanwhile, I just rode past the Pinnacle and that's going to be coming into view shortly. Or rather tall-ly.
  6. Good old Mail Preference Service; I receive none of that junk! But neither yet have I received cheques I am owed! Nice post there though computedshorty!
  7. Hi So I was driving down to the SE15 Sorting Office today on Highshore Road and I saw Steve our postie delivering up the OPeckham Rye SE15 side. I welcomed him back. He said it was chaos down the sorting office; they had four days' worth of mail down there. And that he could only carry two days' worth today. I said, so is it worth me going down and collecting my other two days' worth, and he said yes, why not. So I did. Miserable counter staff from hell (female, 30s, and not the stocky white guy with all the tattoos - he's okay) - she told me she would have a go at Steve for telling me to come down. I said why? I am collecting my mail which I need for work, cheques, etc that he may not be able to deliver. I told her I was coming anyway and not to have a go at the poor s0d who is out in the cold delivering to us all. She looked and was able to give me some mail anyway! She said what would happen if everyone came down here to get their mail it would be chaos. I said, "Good!" because with her attitude she was rightly pissing me off. Anyway, so everyone go down the sorting office at Highshore Road if not all of your expected mail arrives today. And if I am still in When Steve delivers the mail I shall warn him of his telling off. She refused to give me her name. Why do we have such BAD service in this country yet individuals like Steve and others are working their damn socks off!
  8. Not my point. My point was that if they broke the previous rules (which protect them from tiredness?) they would be in trouble. Now it is okay to break the rules.
  9. That is all well and good and I agree it is very important to be safe for safety's sake and not because of fear of litigation. But the government ignores all that when it suits it, and says all of a sudden the rules for the hour limits for delivery lorries can be loosened!
  10. Is that the river running up Peckham Rye park, starting between the y and the e of Peckham Rye? What an amazing picture and thanks so much for posting it. Sorry I can not help with any of the questions though!
  11. Agree about Angus Deayton. Actually, I agree with all the above but Judi Dench is rather good as M.
  12. All the property ones except the original (I think) Grand Designs. Rosemary and Thyme One hundred best.... whatevers! How do they do it and The Gadget show are aimed at children. Tomorrow's World used to be so much more intelligently delivered! I do have a soft spot for Antiques Road Show, though.

    Hello..

Hi Simonet. Welcome to the forum. Here's one for you. How come it has taken more than five months and I still have not got my CRB check yet? (I'm not a criminal by the way!)
  14. Lucky you! Glad to hear it. Nothing here up the hill still.
  15. Not window cleaning: Teaching! He was thinking about becoming a teacher. Steve is a white guy with balding blonde hair about 30s and slim build average height. Same guy as the one you were thinking of? Anyway, he was working at the office for a few weeks prior to coming back to deliveries. And he was worried about it all starting again (his bad back)! But he is the best postie we ever had - never gets the wrong post! But no deliveries here yet today.
  16. Our lovely postie Steve has only just returned to work after months because he had bad back issues. This is not going to help him. Can't believe that the government would refuse them sick pay if they hurt themselves whilst delivering mail; I mean over and above (or below) what the Royal Mail allow. Still no post here! Expecting pay cheques, birthday cards for MrPR (last Thursday!) and work related information that can't be sent email! Thanks for posting the phone number though hpsaucey! Will try tomorrow when they are open.
  17. I have just posted a similar thread in WANTED! Coincidence. I think not. We are aware we have not received anything since Wednesday. The telephone number cuts me off and I can't get to Highshore Road sorting office.
  18. Jeremy Irons David Jason David Suchet I'll give Bill Nighy another couple of years on telly then he's out. But he just does Bill Nighy these days.
  19. Thanks for the helpful updates people. I won't ride a motorbike in snow, and as I can't always walk long distances the Co-op is a good bet, along with the shops up Cheltenham Road. I agree the situation is ridiculous in that Co-op. I made the point about the Margate one to show that it's not just this Forest Hill Road co-op that suffers from no deliveries. Sorry if I upset people. Christ on a bike! And as one who picks up every detail on posts, Sean, I am surprised you write a line like "Having realised it's about fresh food at that coop many people would have been surprised such a thing exists, and how would they know a shortage existed." Define many people. See? Let him who is innocent cast the first stone etc etc. I would have thought a lot of people knew the Co-op did fresh food. Just because you don't, doesn't mean everyone doesn't. As you were.
  20. A comedy?
  21. When governments treat us as stupid, when there are cameras everywhere making us feel over-watched, when we feel completely bombarded by signs saying Do Not Do That and Do Not Do This and even on the toilet doors in pubs and public conveniences telling you to flush the toilet, and when one writes helpful useful posts in here only to have some tw@ make daft and unhelpful comments, one is not surprised that people will behave in a juvenile fashion as a result. Since you asked! And welcome to this otherwise fabulous forum. Take what you want from it and ask not what your forum can do for you, but what you can do for your forum. And when you try to do good on it, be not surprised at the wankers who write shit in your thread ;) ;)
  22. Oh FFS Sean just for once please don't be such a pratt on what I intended as a helpful thread. Some people shop at that Co-op, a lot of people I know do, and I was merely pointing out that there had not been deliveries there, so that people might read that and know to go elsewhere for their food. I was not advocating panic buying, pablogrande, I was just trying to be helpful.
  23. A lot of people have read this post but can anyone tell me has there been a delivery? Save us trudging down the park! The hole in the wall had run out of money, too! Thanks!
  24. Yes.
  25. Just a heads up that Co-op Forst Hill Road seems to be running out of fresh food, so if you are on your way up the hill, buy from Tescos or Sainsburys further down toward Peckham or elsewhere. They said today's delivery had been cancelled as well as yesterdays. My parents live in a small estate in Margate which has a co-op in the middle of it, and they have not had any deliveries for 4 days, and the elderly folk who live on the snowed in estate can't get anywhere else to get their food. Great Britain, 2010. Amazin' eh! Anyway, just wanted to alert you all in case you were planning on getting your supplies on the way home. Is the big Co-op on Lordship Lane getting supplies? Edited for clarity of title.
