  1. Thanks everyone. I am very grateful to you all for your advice and help.
  2. It's a matter of getting there though. I don't think they can afford a mobility scooter but shall do some research. I would like to thank all of you who have contributed to this. And those of you who PMd me. Sean - you also PMd me with a nice apology but then wrote a half hearted thing in here as well! Had you just left it to the PM I'd have retracted my post. Ho hum! Thanks everyone. I am asking the DVLA if they demand a check on the eyesight of the over 70s to get the (eye)ball rolling. This is going to be dreadful.
  3. My Cousin Vinny Joe Pesci's BEST.
  4. No place for your moralising, Sean, and you have no idea about my unhappy childhood, so leave it out. Thank you. "and there isn't much you can do about it other than worry, just as they have spent worrying about you (at various stages)" To everyone else thank you so kindly for your advice, and to the nice PMs I had, also.
  5. That's actually quite funny. In a sick sort of way. Sadly my Dad does retain a great memory and I can't do it to him.
  6. My elderly parents live in a small bungalow in a culdesac on a very small estate which is served by a small row of shops including a Co-op. My Mum is pretty much housebound now, not being able to walk much. She used to love driving but hasn't driven for years and never will again. Dad has breathing problems so can't even walk to the Co-op anymore. He has a car and he now has to drive the car round the corner (the equivalent distance of say the car park back of Iceland to the East Dulwich Roundabout, except there's hardly any traffic at all). It's the only way he can get the shopping. He doesn't understand being on line much and their old computer has not been used in years. You know where I am going with this. His sight is now so bad that if he has to go further than the Co-op Mum has to go with him to help him see what's coming from the left or right. He only ever drives during the day times and when it is brightest so he can see better. I saw that documentary the other day about this very subject. They are too far away for me to help. We have never been that close but I do care. They are independent and intend to remain so. What the ph&*& do I do? He simply should not be driving the car. Without it, they are stuffed.
  7. My Dad's chip machine makes the best chips I have ever tasted. So it can be done but we have no room for more kitchen machinery what with the bread machine and the coffee machine. But we did once buy two generous cuts of sirloin from the butchers on Evelina Road Nunhead and came home and cooked them to perfection, eating them with so-so chips from the oven! That was when we had money, like!
  8. Never owned a car Never read Proust Never seen Henry IV parts one or two Never learned a foreign language
  9. Will PM you with their written reply.

  15. I hot bath with your favourite bath oil / salts / bubbles. 1 large cocktail glass with the rim soaked in lime and dipped all around in cracked sea salt. 40ml Triple Sec 60ml Best quality tequila (worm optional - it may jump in the bath then you're in trouble) 2 to 3 tablespoons of lime juice depending on taste and size of cocktail glass. Ice shavings or - to prevent dilution of above ingredients - put glass and ingredients in fridge for an hour before mixing. Mix the three ingredients above with or without ice. Pour contents into cold cocktail glass with the rim dipped in lime juice and seasalt. Add stuff if you have to - cherries or - anything you want to if there's room. Carefully take cocktail to bath room. Have bath drink cocktail doze for an hour or so till you realise it's only 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon. Back to bread making today....!
  16. I think this is all fabulous. So ironic that the council use ungreen petrol filled machines which their staff use to blow leaves form place a to place b. I questioned them about this; they replied it was cheaper than hiring lots of human leaf sweepers. So that's okay then. But good for you and this whole project.
  17. You lot are fab. I looked out my window and across and down the road a little a MASSIVE filming light shining. I look on here, and get all the info.
  18. My pillion seat awaits.
  19. Can't remember details but wasn't there a post a while ago about the idea of sending all such unwanted mail to the BNP who had a Freepost postal address which was very similar to one that everyone knew about and loved. Hmmm my memory's not what - what was I saying?
  20. Moon Lam Hong on Cheltenham Road is a rather good Chinese and we have been going there on and off 27 years. MrPR likes chicken in batter with Sweet and sour and reckons they do a reasonable job of it. If that helps!
  21. Read a Harry Potter novel Seen a Harry Potter film Read Gone with the Wind Seen Gone with the Wind
  22. PeckhamGateCrasher's witty reply to something in some post or other. Damn, what was it. Where was it. Anyway, that would be my favourite this week. (Sorry, got a cold and head is full of goo)
  23. Congratulations! Is it a mooster or a moosette?

    Driving

She probably thinks talking on her mobile while hogging the middle lane is perfectly acceptable too. We see these arrogant idiots all the time. If you are so sure you are doing the right thing waynetta then go on an Institute of Advanced Driving test and see if you pass.
