  1. Brilliant! Now explain why they went on to keep koi fish.
  2. Would not that have made you feel more uncomfortable? As if - if you can not afford to donate then you may feel guilty for accepting the appt. Nahhhh - this lot have made up their minds, jollybaby!
  3. Um, this should be in the business section since this is your first post and you're involved in the company somewhat maybe? Come on, fingers up.
  4. FFS you lot. You are so up your own ar&es sometimes - all I did was ask questions for a few people. I turn up at meetings. I care. Up yours!
  5. Who did go to this meeting?
  6. edited for errors
  7. http://www.protest-the-pope.org.uk/
  8. I can never work out how to paste direct in to the message without attaching it first!
  9. Why whinge on here? Or - if you do, email the link to the bus companies, the councillors, the Mayor, TfL, etc etc.
  10. I love him. He is important to the continuation of the freedom of speech. He just cracks me up and having met him briefly I was to discover just what a gentleman he could be.
  11. More people are going back to Ell Pees, too. And film photography. Mr PR who occasionally runs 'black and white film development and printing in the darkroom' courses at The Camera Club in Kennington, says more and more people are wanting to learn this skill. And I'll never stop loving real books!
  12. Let's look at the pope's visit as an opportunity to... (and it would be remiss of me to mention this) think about what the British Humanist Association - on behalf of conscientious atheists everywhere - are saying and doing.
  13. Hahahahahhaha very good!
  14. I think ignoring him would be the worst thing we can do. Just as we should not ignore any group / cult / religion / whose remit is to order other people around and make them do things that are dangerous / immoral / illegal / unfair / discriminatory / etc etc. I think it is a scandal that it is a state visit, ie. your taxes are paying for his visit. (I earned so little last year I don't get to pay taxes this year, so its your taxes!)
  15. "the kind of people it attracts" You Effing SNOB! Are you related to louisa?! Wetherspoon pubs are in all sorts of areas in the country; even in London. They are a microcosm of society - lawyers go to the Penderells Oak in Holborn (ok point made) and city workers are often to be seen at the Tower Bridge one and the Goodmans Field one. I wonder what sort of pub attracs YOUR sort of people. Please tell me, I'll stay away. I think you passed by the one at Peckham and stupidly decided all the people you saw in the doorway (some working class people? Or what SORT did you mean?) represent all the people who go to any sort of Wetherspoon pub? Fool. As for the really ignorant comment that you think it's only 50%, well you are living a nice comfortable sheltered life and you don't get out much, do you.
  16. Luckier.
  17. I used to work for the architects of JD Wetherspoons (to give it its correct title!) and they did spend a LOT of money doing up buildings, preserving buildings, making them useable again, albeit as pubs. The theatre (Cornet?) in Forest Hill on London Road for example; you may not like that it is a pub but at least the building has at least been looked after, and is still a public building. The staff used to (I don't know about now) be very well trained and there was a sense of pride but the company got very very big and quickly. They tend to do well in recessions, and are a bit Tesco-ey with the way they approach small breweries at beer festival time, buying in bulk for less money sort of thing, but business is business. I have to admit having visited a LOT of Wetherspoon pubs around London and beyond (Often on their opening nights) they vary according - of course - to the local clientele. Personally, I would never want to go into the Peckham one again but the one in Old Street (Casque Marque?) and Farringdon Road (Sir John something?) are lovely. If the Vale becomes a Wetherspoon pub I would be 'appy though it's still too far for me to walk there!
  18. Many of these signs say Please Drive [more] carefully, child in car, and many do not take the sticker off when driving without said infant in the car. Point is, why drive MORE carefully than one already is? The 'Child in > Car' / 'Baby on Board' signs are intended to alert > the emergency services of a potentially trapped > infant, in the event of a collision.
  19. We leave ours on 24/7, a BT HomeHub attached to the telly for BT Vision also. We turned it off in the past only to find we could not always reliably reconnect in the morning. Also, overnight, sometimes without us knowing, the thing is upgraded. BT Vision too. They're sneaky like that.
  20. There's a pub called the Actress? Never knew that!
  21. When we riding / driving behind a car that has a sticker in it "Child In Car", does it make any difference to the way we drive or ride? See my point?
  22. I would watch EastEnders if Rebecca Front was in it. She can do no wrong. I adore her.
  23. Is that Sue being a tired lesbian?
