  1. MM I have met you and respect you. My cynicism is born out of the fact that some very good friends of mine are suffering greatly as a result of cuts already in place - mental health 'care' for starters. And the fact that nobody who is well off wants to lose anything but their voices are always heard and the bottom big percentage of the population are having - as always - to support the top few percent, either through taxes, and prescriptions charges in my case (unable to afford them all yet not eligible for free prescriptions even though I earned so little I don't have to pay tax next year) or being in work but being paid very poorly whilst big business managers are paid correspondingly too much. The Blair government - of all the governments there could have been - who arrived with so much positivity and hope - let us all down. And a lot of people are suffering. So many people with talents and abilities and most importantly experience, find themselves unable to contribute to society to the betterment of us all. Of course we must not look to government to save us, but we do not need to be made to suffer more when we have done what we could and had it taken away from us. There are a lot of people worse off than me and I try and remind myself of that every day as I take the five out of six different medications I can afford to take(!) but I know that my voice is never heard. I do my best. When I received a letter from my MP after the election thanking me for returning her to office, I wrote to her with my own concerns which were not just for me but for others too. But she is not in government now, and I doubt any of the likes of us will have our concerns heard. If I genuinely felt we were all going to have to suffer equally then fine, but those already suffering and living below poverty levels (I'm not there yet) know that there are many people who fear facing cuts of a few thou in their salaries, but it will just mean they will have to cut back to two holidays a year. There are I believe 17 millionaires in the current new front benches.
  2. My beloved Clockhouse has four damn screens up, even Locale are showing it FFS. So which pub is NOT and I'll go there.
  3. Yeah, my arse. And have they given us an email address? Pahhh!
  4. I rode the bike home last night and there was a fox outside my garage. He walked away licking his lips to about three garages along whilst I put my bike inside. Kept my helmet and armoured jacket on, just in case. He was looking pretty hungry. Then I realised he was actually salivating over my beautiful bike. I threw him a kitten, just to keep him happy.
  5. *looks up sybaritic* Ohhhhhhhhhh!
  6. Yep, stuck to me seat here, too.
  7. The No To Bike Parking Tax guys have set this questionnaire for their legal team. If you're a biker or scooter rider and you use Westminster bike parks please fill this in. Ta!
  8. And then anyway they eff off to USA. Good for them.

  10. But he DID take them to see a flat in East Dulwich!
  11. So what's it actually like being fifty three?

  13. Why is this in two forum sections? Check out what's on and see my answers for Sunday in the other one! Here's just one of them!
  14. OK this weekend I shall be going to the Choumert Square open day fete thing the Horniman fete thing and the Regent Street Spain theme day - the whole of Regent Street is closed and there are stalls and ferris wheels and all sorts of fun. All those three things all happen Sunday. Tomorrow, I shall be wearing ... very little, and sunbathing! Hope you find something to do, we live in LONDON ferchrissakes, how can one ever be bored here?!!

  19. Nah, he called it Peckham Rye. Is Copleston Peckham Rye?
  20. and also mentioned in the regular East Dulwich section of this forum.
  21. I am watching this and I hope the park appeals to them for that oh so important sense of space. A PARK dammit! Ooooooh and now they're saying Peckham Rye is full of artists and stuff. Note they say Peckham Rye and not just Peckham. That one three-letter additional word can add thousands to the value, y'know!
  22. Like the 'problem' with drugs or teenage pregnancies, and so on, it is and always will be a class issue. The rich will always be able to afford their problem habits, safe private abortions, and their stays in Priory or wherever. It is only when problems arise in the news as something that the tax payer has to finance do we get annoyed and the govt start talking taxes. To answer the question, a little bit of both b and c.
  23. I think she's a very young female. A young male wouldn't bother writing stuff like that, and would not be so eloquent. *goes back to the bread machine collected off someone from here selling it for ?20, sits on balcony with flowers, plants and watering can all bought from people on here for very little money, listens to personal DAB radio (planet rock, natch) I bought off here for just a tenner the other day, puts wine in fridge, given to me unexpectedly in exchange for something I gave away recently, and makes intention never to do the * thing again.*
  24. Great post there Huggers. Just like Mickey Flanagan says about living in East Dulwich, "there are people in just the next postcode who are still eating white bread". Such kids can already see life on the other side of the tracks: they watch Desperate Housewives don't they? What's wrong wiv'em. And the posh lot watch EastEnders, don't they? Sorted.
