  1. computedshorty that was a brilliant post. I know you live near me and I hope we meet one day. SteveT for all your rather odd postings before now, I now realise and understand more what makes you tick. I am alive today. I have written a diary every day since 1st January 1970 yes 1970, and never look back at it, but every day is important and I try not waste them but I know sometimes I do. I have always been aware of death since I have a bad illness and now also do humanist funerals, so I try really hard not to be too miserable, but I do fear for my future as I get old and my lungs let me down more and more, and also because I have never earned or had much money and don't want to end up incapable and useless and scared. The best years of my life are - well, today. Every day! I know that sounds trite but when you live with an illness that kills 2000 people a year and another illness that's linked, you want to try and make the most! Being a motorcyclist really does make me feel good about life though. If I ever have to give that up I shall go downhill medically and psychologically speaking in top gear!
  2. Wow! Yay! By the way, is it Datatagged?
  3. I am so sorry to read this. MrPR had a rare bike nicked a few years ago from Rotherhithe - and after he got the appalling compensation from CaroleNashWasteOfSpace - it was found, when some eagle eyed member of TheLondonBikers.com reported seeing a garage door open (near Rotherhithe) which had a heap of bikes in it. Police made enquiries and found a heap of bikes. Of course by this time MrPR's recovered bike was now owned by CaroleNash. Good luck. Will be aware.
  4. A little bit unfair, since I am sure there were more than one pair of those glasses ever made, and it might be reasonable that another pair are seen in this vicinity. So then you'll all stare at the wearer and make them feel uncomfy for no reason. And by the way I was at the Ivy House...
  5. The books tasted lovely with a bit of salt on them.
  6. I also have not paid these. I refuse to even say who was driving the vehicle (motorcycle in my case). They do not have the powers they want you to think they have. Look up ConsumerDirect websites for advice on template letters to write them. I did not pay and did not go to court and got a letter telling me they were dropping it.
  7. John Suchet was on the radio today talking about this. He has written a book about his wife who was diagnosed quite young and about his experience. It was heartrendering to listen to. His book shall doubtless be of great use to you. I am sorry you are going through this - I see it coming with my own Mum now. Here's a link to dementia uk and the book is highlighted on the front page.
  8. ... and matching thong ...
  9. Yeah well I KNOW that, but I was commenting for someone else. Life is way too short to clean chrome, hence I have a filthy motorcycle. If I were on the hunt - sorry, - looking for a new partner - and I walked into his bedroom and found silk sheets I'd think it 70s cheesy - if I saw Egyptian Cotton bedding, and ironed, I'd be well impressed. Handcuffs on the bedposts - now that's another subject.
  10. Silk sheets always make me think of men who are trying to get women, thinking that they will like silk sheets. The most expensive top quality Egyptian cotton - and IRONED.
  11. Tell them you can only see out of your right eye and find it physically impossible to safely turn left, so you have to do three rights each time.
  12. There have been reports that in West Dulwich a biker was filling up at a petrol station and as he came back to the bike having paid for the petrol, (ie he was about to put key in the bike with a full tank of gas) a gang of bikers approached and tried to beat him and nick his bike off him. Amazingly he fought back and got away. The whole thing was on CCTV obviously. TO all bikers, be very aware. My motorcycle is not one these guys would want to nick, not a high performance cool looking rice rocket. But wearing a helmet, armoured motorcycle jacket/jeans and gloves, it would take a few people to beat me. Also, my key is attached to a chain which is linked to my trousers, so they couldn't just take the bike off me. Anyway, everyone take care out there.
  13. I think they were chasing a quad bike...
  14. Thanks Karrie. And Loz - the police will only know if people who see the quad bike tell the police at the time. When I see it I shall report it too of it is doing dangerous stuff! Oh and my info above is not quite correct, the SNT team meet a lot obviously, but at bi-monthly police ward panels, the public can come too.
  15. OK, the Safer Neighbourhood Team is a collection of police, Special Police Community Officers, Community Wardens who work with the community and council officers, and they have meetings every other month (I post this in the What's On Section), to discuss what is going on in our area. I do not know where you live so please find out through typing safer neighbourhood team and the postcode where you live to find your nearest one. There is a number you could call and tell them your concerns. Put the number in your mobile to call them when you are out and maybe see the quad bike or other non emergency concerns you have in your area. We are all we have - so let's all help one another...
  16. So if it concerning you call the relevent safer neighbourhood team.
  17. Great post giggirl and I really enjoyed meeting you and BellendenBelle that fabulous afternoon and hope I will meet you both again. I am not really a 'joiner' although I do make intentions and then never keep them. But I have met several EDFers over the years either one to one in the pub or cafe when we realise we have something in common (eg Marmora Man and LostThePlot), and buying or selling things (usually buying) like the fabulous bread machine for ?10, the FREE DVD player, and the motorcycle bag at an astounding bargain from kford just the other day. I love this forum too. Hope to see you again giggirl, and maybe I'll go to the next forum drinks. Maybe!
  18. Reading this thread from the beginning - oh you lot are so clever. I have a laptop on Windows XP. I use Google. It All Works.
  19. I loved Ac/Dc and saw them a few times too, and Motorhead, but Diamondhead are on my turntable at the moment. Well, not actually playing right now, but still there from last night. And before that I had on dear old Michael Schenker. Later I may dig out some Hanoi Rocks, they are somewhere between Groundhogs and Icehouse, but only alphabetically speaking.
  20. Isn't there a specialist department at our own very wonderful Kings College Hospital dealing with this? Get a referral from your doctor but do NOT go see Mr Whitehead at Gynae department. He is a bully and very rude.
  21. Rules is what happened. Like, this should be in the AboutTheForum section ;)
  22. No! Leave now! Buy a SpyPenCamera!
  23. "thrown" hahaha Meanwhile, under the existing right wing Labour Government, the public sector has made it hell for people remember, we already had a right wing government. Friend of a friend of mine who is a social services leader finds three departments merging into one and she has to reapply for her own job. With ALL of her experience and usefulness to society her job is so badly paid she qualifies for key worker accommodation, and the mortgage is tied to that. So if she fails to get her own job, she loses her home. And now we have Cameron!
  24. I'm happy. Hardly any paid work, yet lots of unpaid work, a roof over my head, food in the fridge and petrol in both bike tanks. And someone who loves me. I'm happy. I Could say scared but happy, anxious but happy, naive but happy, grumpy but happy, worried about my financial future but happy now, but it's all those. But I am happy.
