I love it when I see a quote like ".. People are not going to an outdoor pool in the Rain . Winter. Heated or not. and wont be going every day. Serious swimmers will go to the baths on Crystal Palace rd. " As swimmers will already be wet (it's the nature of swimming) then rain won't make a blind bit of difference to them , the heated element will make it lovely and warm even in the snow and what a great experience it is indeed. Let's look to nature to give us a clue concerning use of heated outdoor pools in the winter

The one thing that came out of last night that should make everyone want to vote out is our we come out of Europe and drag Scotland screaming and kicking with us then the SNP will be after another Scottish referendum in 2 years (despite the majority saying they wanted to be part of the U.K.) Getting rid of the whinging Scott's should be enough to sway anyone's vote imho

I'm hoping for a small victory in June Voting out and being in the majority... Who knows 😳

Oui Lol But let's look at the root cause of the NHS strike, due to pressures on the NHS to treat all the people in the country with limited budgets that are reducing year on year whilst the population grows due to natural birth and immigration plus the free movement of people in Europe. The government are trying to get doctors to work longer hours to cope with the volumes of patients and change their contracts as a result. Conceptually by reducing the number of people who need healthcare in the UK even short term by restricting free movement and access to our health service to Europeans, then there is a chance that the NHS can take stock and be able to reorganise and plan for the growing population. So whilst I understand both sides of the NHS argument, and sympathise with the Doctors, I can also see the root cause of why the government are trying to get them to work longer hours and change their contracts. The difference between the UK doctors strike and the French is that the who.e of France seems to go out on strike when one area is effected whilst in the UK it is limited to the industry or area in question.

Looking at what is going on in France with the strikes and industrial unrest I have to ask myself do I really want to be a part of an Europe that reminds me of the 1970s and the film carry on up your convienince ? Nope and as the foreman says "everyone out" 😀

Watching another motorist cut you up to get ahead in the queue then seeing them a few minutes later stuck in a slower lane then the one you are in.... knowing that you didn't let them out again as you passed them

Love the analogy ladyNorwood and possibly too accurate to be wrong... Is it just me or does the ONS figure of 330.000 increase in net immigration seem a bit unreal and low or am I just a synical old dog and not trusting a word the government and their mouthpieces say at the moment?

Loz If Europe slams the door after Britexit they will also stop exporting to Britain and as we take more of their goods then they take from us they will end up with a bloody nose too. Despite the posturing, I am sure the German car market (for example) will want an amicable deal if we do come out of Europe as they wont want to lose access to the uk market if they put punitive restrictions in place.

To the gentleman (?) in the black BMW (GP03 RRV) I just saw parked virtually in the middle of The road on Upland Road as I came out of the book shop... I and others saw you urinate in the street.. Do you have no pride ? Not that I suspect you will read this but thought maybe some of your friends might...

Property prices cooling in ED?
TheArtfulDogger replied to cantthinkofaname's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
And your point is Reg? That's only 26% of the properties on a listing website showing that they are listing at a reduced price, after a recent temporary rise in prices caused by the by to let surge to beat the stamp duty rises. Also how much of a reduction and what price did they sell for ? What are the long term month, quarter and yearly trends showing? It needs to be about actual selling prices not listing prices (which lets face it can often be pie in the sky figures ) As they say one Swallow doesn't make a summer and it may just be wishful thinking that prices are cooling yet overall property is still going up in value in the area. -

And ? Did you see them do anything illegal ? If so did you report it to the police or alert the staff at boots ? Were they tourists coming to see the delights of Peckham ? I am not really sure what you are trying to say with your post apart from pointing out Chinese people shop at boots ! Unless..... Boots is where you think the Chinese Secret Service headquarters are ... Now that would be interesting !

I am loving all the nay and doom Sayers on this post. The area where the old pool was is very large and I am sure that the plans have taken into account what is available for all of the facilities mentioned. Yes it is a busy road, but let's look at where brockwell lido is, that's also on a busy road, with a busy junction nearby. I am sure the road and junction will be addressed in the plans once the project moves forward. Rather than being negative about projects like this, people should be grateful that exciting projects are being planned for an area that has been so neglected for so many years.

And thus begins the next chapter in advertising for Iceland, Peter has been dropped in favour of a actress is quoted as saying 'I can buy all this delicious frozen veg and pass it off as organic kale from bobbys van because by time it's defrosted no one will know the difference' followed by the voice over stating "that's why Louisa slums at Iceland" 😹
