  1. If you need one deperately, there's one sticking out of a bin on Camberwell Grove that's been there for days.
  2. I wish he was honest and would simply come out and say that he doesn't like Gays. That he finds the way we live distasteful and wish we'd all go away. Wrapping all this bile up, saying that it's all God's Word is a load of piffle. At least. admit that you are homophobic and then we can all realise what a rotten soul runs through this Pope's veins, especially at this time of year. Good will to all men and women.
  3. I can see the fatigue, depression, lack of confidence and all the other frightening effects of ME must be awful to live with. I am one of those people who has concerns with all the various disorders that people are now diagnosed with and then given a pill to try to sort it out. The problem for me is that unlike other illnesses, it is not something that is living in you, a virus or a problem with the organs. for instance. It is often behaviours or that we display that are used to disgnose these conditiions. I think that it is important that sufferers know this and maybe, can begin to take control of their lives with help if needed, for instance, therapy. CBT is one approach that may help, but there is an increasing body of people and professionals that believe that it in many cases, does not deal with the unerlying issues that people bring with them. There are other therapies that may be as helpful or more helpful, depending on the person.
  4. Perhaps, one of you could go as Mrs Meers from Thoroughly Modern Millie... http://dannymiller.typepad.com/blog/images/mrsmeers.jpg
  5. My understanding is that there has been a lot of people who have expressed their deep concerns about the scheme and are in contact with the Council. I'm not sure how co-ordinated they are, but I know that people are doing something about it, whether as individuals and small groups. It seems to be a case of complete over development of a site that it not large enough to accommodate so many people. The Hexagon Housing Association's proposals could add another 50 residents (at least) to what are two very sleepy streets. They are both extremely quiet roads, as unless you live or visit there, there's no real reason to access them. Unlike some people, I also believe that the Council will see sense and not accept plans that are clearly absurd, though who knows?
  6. Why not use the barriers they spent all that money on, so that only authorised traffic could go up Rye Lane and get them working. Also stop traffic parking anywhere near the station and viaducts at anytime might help.
  7. You could go and see my friend Simon, who lives in central Oxford, he's very mice. He's double jointed, in case you're interested.

It will be hard to say goodbye to the glamour of lighting up. The kids need role models like us, counteracting the prissy overbearing non smokers. If I do give up and have any cigarettes left, I will, of course, be charitable and hand them out to the kiddies in the park. Pay it forward.
  9. Gonna try and give up cigarettes tomorrow, so my senses are rather heightened. Will try to avoid any situation where I might lose it. Have already raised my voice at the supermarket check out, only to sculk away when I realised that I was making a scene.
  10. I'm rather fond of my water, the odd shower, Ribena, for my little plants and as a mixer occassionally.
  11. He has certainly embraced his media career with relish. Did you notice you never saw him and Sister Wendy on screen together? Coincidence? Was that really Brian behind the wimple?
  12. Perhaps this is another case where they should get rid of all the fences around the perimeter. I'm not sure who they were trying to keep out or in, but they don't really make any sense.
  13. I thought they all gathered in the Fox Under the Hill in Camberwell.
  14. I live on Peckham Rye, the road, not the grass.

    Bull

I just see it as something particular to the Spanish culture. Viewing it from the outside, it seems rather absurd. The whole machismo mixed in with camp costumes that would make a Strictly Come Dancing clothes designer blush. Seems a bit of a We're Off to Sunny Spain mularky. Ol?.

  17. I used to work there in the 80s. Hated the place and rarely ever go in, pretty much like everyone else it seems. It was decline then, gradually thinning its what it sells, until it resembled every other Pound Shop in the street. It just felt like they didn't really care or any enthusiasm for what they did. The only thing I liked is looking through the cheap dvds to pick up bargins like Xanadu for a couple of pounds.
  18. This server, did you try turning it on and off again? Usually works for me.

    .

    What's in it for you?
  20. I had the same problem when I lived on the edge of Brockwell Park. Lorries and Buses used to hit the raised crossing at full speed, resulting in an almightly crashing sound. Tell drivers to slow down? You mad? Civil liberties, Big Brother, blah de blah. No, the answer, apparantly, is to get rid of any hinderance that might impinge on the driving experience.
  21. Can we have another name and shame list for the Tories? About time they were outed for their vile ways.
  22. Once I've stopped smiling, it is probably wrong to bring these people's details into the public arena, though the sound of poop hitting the fan is pretty deafening. Whoever did it has probably done more to bring down the BNP and surely that's a good thing. Edited to ask, can the BNP be brought to book for not protecting the data they held?

As somebody who is mostly ginger themselves, perhaps I should. I understand the point about respecting your elders and there is no justification for silly rudeness, but as their passes don't work before 9am, what exactly is the driver meant to do. Just wave them on? What if an inspector gets on? What happens if some miserable git, who's having a bad day and sees what happens, decides vent their anger and calls to complain about drivers not following the rules?
