I was wondering who'd be first to say it. Personally, I think it would niggle me if I was faced with people saying, oh well, it's nearly 9am, can I come on. How many people and not just oldies, have you seen that know full well their card hasn't been accepted on the card-reader. Then they sort of gingerly walk down the bus, acting oblivious, in the hope the conductor will not bother.

Dog walkers in Peckham Rye park

Who cleans the poop? -
Hartley, thanks for the information. I'm sure we'll be running down there as soon as poss. I hope they've got a table tonight. I'm trying to visualise what it looks like. Any information on the decor? what the specials are? how much I should expect to pay? are the toilets clean? do they add a service charge? do they give all tips to the staff? is wearing jeans too casual? what sort of menu is it? what time is it open? yours in anticipation, cd

Every day is a pink day in my little world. Thank you for reminding us of one the great film performances, the wonderful Robert Helpmann http://api.ning.com/files/RHxJm3w9LyPsFPC5alRrkB6Mq2RRcjFsxUnJJuUNfsYTqu1gtLpIvYEe0xr6SbXjzvdasc8cVP2hujKBBZGko4MqYLnG7u64/230pxRobert_Helpmann_child_catcher_.jpg

Why can I never get a doctors appointment?
cdonline replied to MadWorld74's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Maybe, it's because they are having to deal with the legions of patients expecting and demanding antibiotics for every little sniffle and cough. BTW, that is not a pop at anyone with a pre-existing medical condition. -

As is pointed out ad nauseam, most of the cases of paedos are usually from a member of the family or a close friend. Sending someone to prison may help society in its desire for handing out tough sentences, but we know the courts have to take into account a number of factors. Will it cause more disruption to the family? Is the person the main bread winner? Is the person a danger to society? etc, etc. How many people are we actually going to lock up? Keep going until it's hundreds of thousands?

PCSO's stopping and fining cyclists (on ED Road)
cdonline replied to d803cn's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
As I don't ride my bike on the pavement, it's not gonna be a problem. Most cyclists stick to the road. It's a generalisation, but I've noticed that it tend to be the yoof, invariably without lights and helmet, who are the culprits as well as Mummies and their children. If you do not feel safe to ride on the road, you shouldn't be on a bike, the pavement'a for walking. One real bubear is the endless cyclists who use the paths along the river on the South Bank. -
I don't quite get the leap from saying that things have gone to pot and we live in a barbaric world and saying that capital punishment, which as a form of legalised premeditated killing is beyond me. And I can't see it coming back anytime soon. What makes me uncomfortable about the Baby P case, is the way the media immediately jump on the professionals involved as being the ones responsible. I would like to know about what drove the adults involved to take such desperate actions. Surely then, we can understand the problem and start to face the issues. Simply demonising them removes further from our understanding. Whether that is a history of abuse, mental health issues, poverty or learning disabilties etc, etc.

A bar that only sells bottle beer? But, but, that means going to the bar twice as much. Not that's any of my bees wax, as I never come. Though a Christmas drink in early December sounds quite nice. It won't clash with my work's do, as well, frankly we never have a Christmas knees up. I mean, like never, ever.

My tips will be lost forever. Back on topic, I went through a recent bout of MF. There must have been a chill in the pub I was in the night before. Woke up, unable to leave my bed. Managed to phone and leave a message that I would not be in (before 9am, of course. Was to weak to speak to the Boss). Had to stay in bed, barely able to keep my eyes open through This Morning, followed by Loose Women. Started to feel better around 5pm, staggered to the offie for a bottle of wine, back to bed for Strictly Take Two. Ok, maybe a bit girly for ManFlu. Unfortunately, found myself in remission in the morning. Obviously, I put too much stress on my feeble bones. This lasted all week.

My dealer is celebrating Christmas by offering special deals on bulk orders. Is the season to be jolly.

I can. Really, everything and anything. Until I know her dried out husk has been burnt and scattered, I'll probably never be fully at peace.

anyone having problems with royal mail sorting office?
cdonline replied to sibbers1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I can't remember the last time any of my post has gone astray. Amazon packages a plenty, recent birthday presents and even the an envelope with money in that a stupid relation put in. I suppose it only takes one dodgy postal worker to disrupt a whole area's post. I presume that the Royal Mail is not stupid enough to see a pattern of 'lost' post. Both at work and at home, we often get misdirected mail (though sometimes the address on the envelope is not clear). I always write on the envelope that it was sent to the wrong address and re-post it. I wonder if it is always the Royal Mail at fault. -
I always give the water a good thorough splash around after I've relieved myself in the pool. Just to make to sure it gets diluted. No need to thank me for my concern for others. Agree about the facilities, they've always been pants.

What happened to the Saturdays of Radio 2? Didn't it used to be wall to wall Big Band Classics or hours of somebody playing the Wurlitzer from Blackpool Tower? Times have changed. The only person whose come out of this with any dignity is Mr Sachs. From his pathetic grandchild milking the situation for as much money as she can. The media lapping up all the stupid shenanigans and going along with all this mock outrage. And especially to the 27,000 minus two, who have got nothing better to than contact the BBC, just after some of them have logged onto Youtube, just to check out how outraged they really are. Oh, and myself for loving all the minutiae of this overblown story.

He seems to have faced up to big issues of our times and dealt with them. Not being able to have a quick tipple on the tube was a major social problem that he's stamped on. And today he's solved the problem of cyclists being flattened by cars, by giving us the equal chance of being mowed down by a moterbike. Cheers Boris.

linzkg, I can see your point, but if I went to a restaurant and had to worry that the managers were fleecing me and the staff by pocketing the service charge, I don't think I'd ever go out. I sympathise that waiting staff are not getting their dues, but if I'm going out for a meal, I do not want to spend my time thinking about how the staff are being paid.

I tend to just pay the service charge. It's easier, I'm afraid. I don't really see that it's my job to sort out problems that staff are having regarding pay. If I knew that a restaurant is using service charges or tips to top up salaries, while paying staff minimum wages or less, I would avoid going in.

Is this the same miserable git that used to work on the N12 bus route? Sounds like him. A welcome scowl, always followed by some problem with seemingly every passenger.

I presumed that there was some kind of general consensus that these kind of things are socially unacceptable, but it doesn't mean that everybody is going to accept these rules. I wondered if the kid was getting a thrill from deliberately doing something that he knew was wrong and breaking through normal social boundaries. I've certainly done things, which in the cold of day would be considered wrong, expecially when I was growing up. I tend to avoid these situations, mainly due to the acute embarassment felt afterwards. Jollybaby reacted in one way, but it would have been with her rights to castigate the kid or even take it further. I wouldn't defend what this boy did, but I wonder how many of us would feel rather chuffed when somebody is giving us the eye, shouts sexy at us, whistles, pay us a compliment or even gives us a quick slap on the backside? Playing devil's advocate, do we worry too much about these things, that we end up living in a bubble and ignore the people who live and work around us.

Question about Tenancy Agreements and removal of Sateliite Dishes
cdonline replied to Weegee's topic in The Lounge
Wouldn't it be easier and err.. polite to remove the dish. -
Not sure quite why, but I've got a bit of a soft spot for Andrew Marr.
