Southwark Council are now enforcing litter fines. We issue ?75 fixed penalty notices, commonly known as fines, to anyone caught littering or ?50 for leaving dog mess in public. The Magistrate's Court can also issue fines of up to ?2,500 for the more serious crimes. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200178/environmental_crime/773/fixed_penalty_noticesfines Its a sinister plot to 'encourage' people to drop litter to make money from fines. And save more money from not having to empty bins filled by law abiding members of the public. DulwichFox

  7. In a mild winter, robins start courtship in January, but the breeding season normally begins in March. The birds pair only for the duration of the breeding season. http://www.rspb.org.uk/discoverandenjoynature/discoverandlearn/birdguide/name/r/robin/nesting.aspx Foxy

I am so bored of reading their opinions. Errh Excuse me... and you are...?? I've lived in East Dulwich for 35 years and in Peckham for 28 years before that. I've earned my right to have my say. To have an opinion. The very nature of you post is in itself negative as you have not actually posted anything positive about any outlet in East Dulwich. I have posted dozens of good reports about several establishments in ED. That is why I am welcome in many places and get well treated when I dine out there. Don't listen to the Hounds... Hounds hunt in Packs. The Fox is a solitary creature and hunts alone. DulwichFox
  11. Green Cross man on North Cross Road.. DulwichFox
  12. I don't want.. CPZ in SE22. LL pavements are in a terrible condition... James Barber did say (I seem to remember)sometime back in the year this was in hand with Southwark Council. Well it must still be in hand because they are getting worse. Have not seen the pretty pavement lights outside East Dulwich Station. They probably cost a lot of money. I'm sure they are very nice. For a period 1977 - 1979 when I was Vegetarian I survived on Veggie curries. I ate out EVERY night and on a Sunday often had 2 curries. I still go out every night and have done for the past 40 years except when I was working nights. circa 1999-2001 DulwichFox
  14. Free Spuds on the bar Sunday lunch time. DulwichFox
  15. Times were people ate in local restaurants and they were within the financial reach of all.. For a treat people went up West. Somewhere special.. Even a basic Curry and 2 small beers on LL. is going to set you back ?20.00+ even in the cheaper places. Add a starter / desert / liqueur and that's ?35.00 + tip. I used to eat out 4-5 nights a week. Now its down 2 once / twice. Prices in new outlets are pushing up prices elsewhere and allowing landlords to charge what they like for rents. It's snowballing and it's out of control. DulwichFox
  16. Take them back.. They may be faulty... They cost ?40.85 from Philips.. http://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/SHQ3017_10/actionfit-orange-and-black DulwichFox

  19. Hi KRoff.. There is always an element of resentment by some when someone new posts here. It's a throwback to the old School Playground Bully days. Anyone new / different can get a hard time here. Seeming intelligent people seem to adopt a very defensive attitude to others invading there territory. Bit like a lone football supporter going into a pub full of rival supporters. Its a bit strange that people who welcome the coming of new businesses to the area, adopt a very different attitude to new/first time posters on EDF. Feel free to have your say, even if you express a conflicting view to others. The lounge is for discussion. People need to discuss things without getting personal. This is a very small forum.. I belong to FLASH KIT Community.. A technical forum with global membership It does have a Lounge and is a very friendly and interesting place. There are 29 sections Threads: 722,830 Posts: 3,695,339 Members: 595,614 There are some very technical people on Flash Kit but there is 'Newbie' section where people learning to program can ask the simplest of questions without being ridiculed. Its a friendly place. This place could take a leaf out of their book. DulwichFox
  20. Times change. In the 50's Chicken was not mass produced and was expensive and we only ate it at Christmas. We had to do with Beef on a Sunday. When we went to the butchers they gave away lamb Shanks for the dog. Now they cost a fortune. Especially in restaurants. Oysters cockles & brown shrimps were cheap. Now they too cost an arm and a leg. DulwichFox

In reality we preferred The Golden > Egg. Egg, sausage and chips on a chrome plate > with vinegary tomato ketchup. Yum. I was only thinking a bit earlier about The Golden Egg. Me and my mate used to go the one in Oxford Street 1970ish We thought we were the Bees Knees. http://www.vads.ac.uk/images/DCADB/250/OTC00044.jpg Used to go to Wimpy in Oxford Street too. Then off to Carnaby Street.. Foxy
  22. There was a Chez Nico .. Nico Ladenis (born 22 April 1934) a Tanzanian-born chef of Greek descent I believe it was near the Police Station so possible where Mr Liu is now. But I don't know for sure. Ladenis was famous for throwing out anyone who asked for salt. DulwichFox
  23. People accuse me of wanted to live in the past and resent change.. and then say I happy to see businesses fail. Well that does not make sense. I want local businesses to thrive and not be constantly closing down and changing hands. That is not being Negative. Some here would be happy for Iceland to close and be replaced by something they want. Well there are many people in ED that do not post here and like Iceland as I do. EDF posters do not own ED. I think we have enough food outlets and very few service shops. Dulwich DIY being one of them. and a very good shop it is too. We have lost most of our pubs. EDT being the only real pub left on LL. I hope it does not change like the others but fear it may well do in the near future. DF
